Days later

* So! It's been a few days, and while Ruby and pyrrha are again sleeping in their beds since they were dead tired, from having to catch Ruby up in all her work, she missed from the filler arc on the island. While Yang was off in her hiding place, crying over what Ruby told her. We see the other members of Ruby's small friend.... the other members of Ruby's small acquaintance group going on with their life, since they're not gonna drop everything to comfort Yang again.*

With pretty boy aka jaune

*we see the spineless leader of JWBY who's only a leader in name, in the library, studying less the real leader of JWBY scolds him for slacking. As it happened, the real leader was walking his way, and she did not look pleased. So, jaune did the only logical thing. Call her over. Did I say logical? I meant dense. The most dense thing is imaginable. Weiss was frustrated as she was walking back to her dorm, when, of course, jaune decided to stop her from speaking. When that was the last thing she wanted at this particular moment in time, she just wanted to go back to her dorm room.

Weiss: hmph. What do you want, jaune?

Jaune: Is everything alright, Weiss?

*jaune asked with a nervous smile, on his face, knowing there's a good chance that Weiss will use him as a stress ball, but then again it's Weiss, so jaune would let it happen, since even though he has a girlfriend, he still has a small crush towards the white hair heiress. Weiss for her part took a deep breath, pinching the bridge of her nose before she rolled her eyes and spoke, deciding to make jaune her de-stress machine. Verbally, of course, she can only harm him physically if their in the dorm room.*

Weiss: No. Things are not alright. I wanted to spend the day with Ruby, but she's busy with Pyrrha. Honestly, those two spend too much time together.

*Weiss said with a frustrated sigh. She finally found someone she could share her favorite interest with, someone who, while rough around the edges, can be taught and shown the beauty of the opera. In theory, at least, since in practice, it rarely happens on weiss's time, since when SHE wanted to talk about the opera, Ruby was never around to share it with her. Jaune looked at Weiss with a raised eyebrow, as he didn't notice that something was growing inside of him. Insecurity.*

Jaune: I don't think they spend that much together

Weiss: please, their practically joined on the hip. Sigh, what a pain. I wanted to talk about the opera with her. I found a book that I knew she would find intriguing

*Weiss said with a disappointed huff as she left the library, leaving her leader in name only alone. Jaune frowned softly as the words Weiss said started to affect him. It affects him and his insecurities of being in a relationship with someone as amazing as Pyrrha. Since all it takes was a little bit of water for a plant of self-doubt and self-hatred to grow and manifest. Weiss was the unknowing gardener of that plant.*

Jaune: Maybe I should ask Pyrrha to spend less time with Ruby

*jaune said softly to himself, thinking that Weiss made a good point. Of course, Weiss didn't do anything wrong she was just talking. This was all jaune, being insecure of his relationship and finding an excuse to not like Ruby and Pyrrha hanging out so much. Unfortunately, jaune fell on the trap that many people fall into, getting into a relationship so it would be their happiness and not add to their already existing hapiness*

Meanwhile, with Ruby and Pyrrha. After they woke up

*we see Ruby and pyrrha spending the day together. After days of Ruby again dodging her, pyrrha finally managed to corner the little rose and force her to join her for a cup of coffee in grimmbucks. Now, did pyrrha grab Ruby like a princess and put her inside an Uber with her to get here so she wouldn't be able to escape? Honestly, pyrrha is insulted that you readers would even think she would do something like that, and she's frankly insulted by the insinuation. So their they are, Pyrrha drinking a unicorn Frappuccino, while Ruby was drinking an ice chai latte. Ruby put her cup down and looked at Pyrrha*

Ruby: I like this drink.

Pyrrha: I'm glad. It's an iced chai latte. You seem different. More emotional, not in a negative way, mind you, just an observation

*pyrrha explained that while she was happy that Ruby was showing emotions, she was concerned about why she was in the last couple of weeks she's been completely blank on everything. Even her tone was numb, so she was concerned about what had happened. Ruby hummed, stirring her drink with her straw*

Ruby: I am. I've been without any sort of emotion because I asked Glynda to double my dosage of medication to make sure I wouldn't hear them. I.... I reacted poorly to hearing them again, and I wanted to make sure I wouldn't ever again.

Pyrrha: And it cost you all your emotions

*pyrrha said, finishing Ruby's sentence. Ruby nodded with a frown on her face, as she didn't look pyrrha in the eyes. She just kept looking at her drink, not being able to look Pyrrha in the eyes, since she knows what she'll see if she looks at them. She'll see pity, she'll see concern, she'll see worry, all things that Ruby doesn't want anyone to feel for her. She can take care of herself, has been for years. So after a small breath, Ruby continued as  she spoke softly.*

Ruby: Yes. I admit that I went too far off the deep end with the medications. I was... I was just scared. I'm still scared that they'll come back.

Pyrrha: You're not off your medication. Are you?

*Pyrrha asked with concern, pity, and worry in her tone. It made Ruby chuckle softly and shook her head, even without looking at her eyes, pyrrha still managed to make Ruby squirm in her seat, over things Ruby didn't want people to think about when they looked at her. So, taking a sip of her cold drink, before speaking again, a bit of amusement back in her tone as she spoke, showing that she's still not all their emotionally *

Ruby: No, of course not. Glynda would never allow that. It took us a bit to find what dosage was right for me. We're still trying to figure it out. But for now, it's... fuzzy.

Pyrrha: Is that good or bad?

*pyrrha questioned, almost completely forgetting about her drink, until Ruby pointed at it. So Pyrrha kept drinking before it turned bad. Ruby drummed her fingers on the table in thought as she shrugged, at the question that Pyrrha just asked her. Since there's no way Ruby could answer that. She can admit she's not emotionally intelligent enough to answer such a question.*

Ruby: remains to be seen. But they haven't bothered me yet. So, all signs are pointing to good

Pyrrha: So is that why you were dodging me? You wanted to wait until you had some semblance of your emotions back?

*Pyrrha questioned and hoped it would be that simple, but just like everything that has to do with ruby, it never is. Ruby shook her head and took another sip of her drink, buying her a few seconds of quiet before she had to speak and explain herself, explain her behavior recently *

Ruby:.... No. I just didn't want to have this conversation.

Pyrrha: That's the Ruby I know. But we are gonna have it. Let's start with you faking a psychotic episode at class?

*Pyrrha asked with a slight frown on her face, remembering all of that, and remembering how angry she got when she realized that Ruby was keeping things from her. Pyrrha wasn't the only one frowning. As Ruby was frowning too, since she knew how Pyrrha knew her mental episode was made up, for the mission.*

Ruby: Glynda told on me right? Can't tell her anything, Heh.

Pyrrha: she did. What I want to know is why you kept it from us that it was an act

*pyrrha questioned, her frown becoming deeper as she saw the signs. Ruby was dismissive with her answers. Ruby, for her part, shrugged and waved her hand dismissively at Pyrrha before speaking. Her tone is the same as her wave that being dismissive.*

Ruby: it needed to be convincing. I couldn't risk you pretending that it was real. I needed you to actually believe it was real

Pyrrha: Well, what do you know. We've been pretending, and they fell for it.

*Pyrrha said with an annoyed look on her face, at how Ruby was acting as if her lies didn't hurt her. Ruby shrugged wirh her lips pursed, as she looked out the big window into the streets, where miracle was parked, the robotic horse was probably sleeping right about now, how she wish she could do the same*

Ruby: I still couldn't risk it. So if you're expecting me to suddenly apologize for that, then you've got another thing coming

Pyrrha: I know you better than to expect an apology. What I want to know is why you thought it would be OK with this? With any of this?

*pyrrha asked in a bit of a hurt tone, which made Ruby squirm. She sighed, closing her eyes for a second, trying to get her feelings in order. Till she opened them again, and was just truthful with Pyrrha, on her reason why she's been acting the ways she's been acting*

Ruby: Because. I don't want to get hurt. Emotionally, I mean.

Pyrrha: I'm gonna need you to elaborate

*Pyrrha asked, confused. As she let Ruby go to another sip of her drink, she bought her time to get her thoughts in order. But Ruby didn't need to do that. She just sighed and gave Pyrrha a dosage of reality. She's not long for beacon*

Ruby: I'm not a student, Angel. I'm a mercenary. I was hired to do a job. A job that once end I'll have to leave. And go back to my normal life as an outlaw

Pyrrha: But that doesn't explain to me why you're pulling away from us. Why are you isolating yourself?

*Pyrrha asked as she got closer to Ruby. She tried to grab her hand to give her support, but Ruby pulled her hand away. Ruby frowned deeply as she finally looked at Pyrrha in the eyes and did something shocking to pyrrha. She called her by her actual name.*

Ruby: Pyrrha. Once this mission is over, you and me? We'll be enemies. You'll be a huntress, and I'll be an outlaw. It'll be your job to fight me, take me in, or kill me.

Pyrrha: I would never kill you Ruby, your being ridiculous, honestly. What's going on in that mind of yours?

*pyrrha asked with a shake of her head, but Ruby wasn't gonna let Pyrrha believe that she could outsmart the system. So with an annoyed sigh, that she's feeling that Pyrrha isn't really listening to her, she continued to speak, this time in a more firm tone than before*

Ruby: What about the other two? Sure, you bend the rule, angel. But that would be breaking it. Would you be able to do that?

Pyrrha: I can just refuse to accept any mission that involves you

*Pyrrha asked and then got rather insulted when Ruby chuckled softly at her. Ruby shook her head as she finished her drink in one last big gulp, before she spoke, in a tone that told Pyrrha, " You're cute. Stupid. But cute. "*

Ruby: That won't be good enough. Since I'm wanted on sight. The second you see me, you will be ordered to capture me. I love... I care for you deeply. And I know breaking the rules to that extent is not who you are.

Pyrrha: So what? Is that it? We're gonna be enemies in the future. So you don't want to be friends now?

*Pyrrha asked, wondering why Ruby has this obsession of being alone. Ruby, the snake faunus, just shrugged and nodded since that was precisely the case. Ruby would rather lose Pyrrha now than lose her later, where it'll be much more painful for her to say goodbye.*

Ruby: Yes. Because it'll hurt me that much more if we keep doing it. It'll hurt me that much more when I'll have to aim my arms at you instead of with you.

Pyrrha: I do not accept this.

*Pyrrha said sternly, making Ruby snort in amusement since she already knew how this conversation was gonna end. She knew how stubborn the champion could be when she wanted something. And she wanted Ruby, not the same way Ruby wanted her, but still*

Ruby: I know. That's why I didn't want to tell you, since I knew you would try to have it all. But you can't. But I find it funny that you're only concerned about yourself, and not using the other people I like in that school for your argument

Pyrrha: I could. But we both know that I'm the only one that really matters to you.

*pyrrha said with a crooked smirk, Ruby chuckled and nodded her head, moving around the cup on her hand, to have something to distract her. She almost didn't notice how Pyrrha stood up*

Ruby: Fair enough. But yeah. That's about it. I'm isolating myself so that when I leave, it won't hurt us so bad. And I already know what you're thinking

Pyrrha: Really now? Surprise me.

*pyrrha said with an amused smile, as she grabbed their empty cups and threw them out, when pyrrha sat back down, ruby answered the question she said to her, though their was a bit of teasing on Ruby's tone of voice*

Ruby: You're gonna say that it doesn't matter. You're not gonna give up on this. You're not gonna give up on us. You're still gonna be my friend

Pyrrha: You know me so well. Shame that you make it so damn hard to be your friend sometimes

*pyrrha said, putting a finger on Ruby's forehead and pushing her back playfully. Ruby laughed softly at this and shrugged as a response, giving Pyrrha a little smile in return.*

Ruby: I can be a bitch. What can I say? I was trained by the best bitch around

Pyrrha: hm. Well Raven does trike me as quite the bitch. I'll go get you another chai latte

*Pyrrha said, getting up and going inside the cafe to get refills, Ruby watched her go, with the smile on her face never leaving her face. She's really gonna miss Pyrrha when the mission is over, so right now, she's just gonna enjoy it. Even if she knows how this story is gonna end.*
