* Summer was coming to an end, and everyone would be back to beacon soon. Ren and Nora were off camping, jaune was getting up the courage to finally get the first kiss of the relationship, Pyrrha was off training to live up to her family's unrealistic expectations, Weiss was currently singing in a high end opera, Blake was back home reading books, and then they're were the two sisters. Ruby was getting ready to set off on a very personal mission. While Yang was bugging ruby to let her go with her*

Yang: Come on, ruby!, didn't I prove that I can hold myself?!

Ruby: Against grunts. And even if you could take on, more powerful enemies. My answer is gonna be the same, no. This is something I'm doing on my own

*Ruby grunted, annoyed, as she looked at her materials. It was all survival things she'll need for this journey. Survival items and a small box. Yang let out a whine and looked at her sister angrily*

Yang: But why? Can't you at least tell me what you're doing?

Ruby: So that you can follow me? Nice try. Now do me a favor and just piss off. I'm working

*Ruby said with a grunt, she started putting the items in her traveler's bag, unlike yang, ruby was actually calm about it. It's not a real calmness. The pills just made it hard for Ruby to care. Yang sighed and took some breaths to calm herself*

Yang: Can't we at least discuss this?

Ruby: There is nothing to discuss. Summer is almost over, and I've got a promise to keep

*Ruby said, her dulled eyes shined for a moment, and showed sadness behind them, as she picked up the box, as soon as it was there it left, before yang could see the emotion. Yang looked at her with a raised eyebrow*

Yang: I thought you said it was a mission.

Ruby: A personal mission, now again piss off. I'm trying to double-check that I have everything I'm gonna need

*Ruby said as she put the box gently on the bag and closed it. She placed the strap on her shoulder and was ready to go. But Yang wasn't ready to give up*

Yang: At least give me a reason why I can't come!

Ruby: Because I said so

*Ruby said simply, as she walked to miracles who were waiting for her. Yang walked behind Ruby, not wanting her to leave like that. Not accepting that as an answer*

Yang: A legitimate reason.

Ruby: That is a legitimate reason to me and a valid one since that's the one your mother used on me when i was wet behind the ears. Now leave before I ram my foot into your ass so far up that...

Whitley: Ejem.

*Whitley interrupted, and both girls looked at the youngest sibling of the shnee family. Whitley shnee. Whitley gave a polite nod before he spoke up*

Whitley: So sorry to interrupt whatever this sibling squabble is about. But I did come here for business

Ruby: Whitley, I'm surprised to see you out of Atlas

*Ruby said with a snort nod. Whitley was surprised seeing his acquaintance with normal skin instead of the reptilian skin she had on her body. And he wasn't shy about speaking his curiosity*

Whitley: Yes, well, even I need a break from all the snow. And what on earth happened to your skin?

Yang: That's what I liked to know

*Yang muttered, feeling frustrated that she was being left in the dark. One day, Ruby had snake skin. The other, it was like she never left Ruby at all that night. Ruby shrugged and spoke almost without emotion in her tone*

Ruby: it's for a mission I'm doing. There is no need to concern yourself with such things. So what do you want?

Whitley: Firstly, to speak in private, if that's is at all possible

*Whitley said, glancing at the yellow haired girl. Ruby understood what he meant and glanced at yang, moving her head to the door*

Ruby: Beat it, Yang. Grown-ups are talking

Yang: grown-ups? I'm older and taller than both of you

*Yang said insulted, but Ruby was having none of it. She pointed at the door firmly, and as she frowned a little, she didn't have time for any of this. She needed to leave, less she would be late*

Yang: ok, ok, I'm leaving. But this is not over ruby

Whitley: siblings, can't live with them. Don't want to be around them

*Whitley said with a small chuckle, yang shot him a glare before she left. Once alone, Whitley walked to a seat and sat on it while Ruby leaned against her horse*

Ruby: Preach. Now, what's up?

Whitley: I'm just gonna come out and say it. Did you do something to my older sister, winter schnee?

*Whitley said bluntly. Ruby couldn't tell what emotion Whitley was feeling, but it wasn't anger. So she shrugged and nodded, deciding on just telling the truth*

Ruby: I did. It was a matter of survival. She was gonna kill me, or I her. Nor hard feelings, I take it

Whitley: None at all. She was a lost cause anyway.

*Whitley said with a bit of a sad sigh, but it was barely a drop of sadness. The rest was just disappointment, as he spoke about his eldest sister*

Whitley: Weiss may have thought she was this fantastic soldier, a true role model. But she was nothing more than a puppet for James and our father. But you didn't kill her. So what did you do to her?

Ruby:Hmm. You are right. I didn't kill her. That would've been merciful, and after all the crap she and James did to me. I wanted her to suffer

*Ruby said, her tail rattling a little as it moved around in the ground. Whitley glanced at it for a second but then looked back at Ruby, with a calm expression*

Whitley: a fair reaction, for people like us

Ruby: Like us?

*Ruby asked, confused. Whitley just nodded as he took his pocket watch out and looked at the time. Seeing the human eye inside of the watch looking back at him*

Whitley: monsters who aren't all there anymore. You have your demons....and I have my own. But we are getting off the topic. What did you do?

Ruby: I gave her....a special version of my poison. One that doesn't kill but infects the mind, making it as broken as my own.

*Ruby said with an amused huffed, it was supposed to be a chuckle. But a huff was all she could muster. Whitley nodded and closed the watch, hiding away his monstrosity to the world and putting it back in his pocket,*

Whitley: gotcha, she's in an asylum right now. When will the poison go out of her body?

Ruby: Eventually. But even when it does, she will never be the same. Since the damage the poison has done will be permanent. But then you don't care about that, do you?

*Ruby asked, Whitley didn't even chuckle. He just shook his head, not caring about the fate of his older sister, not even a little. She made her choices, and now she's paying for them*

Whitley: Not even a little,  just making pleasant conversation. But that's not why I'm here. I already guessed what you did to her, the moment I went to visit her.

Ruby: How was she?

*Ruby asked with mild curiosity since winter is patient zero of the new venom. Whitley placed his hand on his chin in thought before he spoke*

Whitley: a ravenous animal, she didn't speak, just growled at everything. When the poison gets out of her, though...

Ruby: she'll be a shell of her former self, but filled with fear, wouldn't be surprised if she starts hearing voices in her head. But, stop changing the subject, you want to ask me something, so man up and just ask it

*Ruby said with her arm crossed, her tail rattling a little, causing Whitley to chuckle softly. And raise his hands in defeat*

Whitley: Right. Sorry. I... I need your help

Ruby: I guessed that, but for what?

*Ruby asked, wondering what Whitley was beating around the bush for, Whitley took a deep breath before he sighed*

Whitley: How long do you expect to be staying in beacon?

Ruby: With how things are going? It's probably another semester. The wheels of our plan are spinning, but spinning slowly.

*Ruby said, as the reason why they asked yang to leave was made clear, Whitley knew what Ruby was planning with ozpin and Salem. He was even helping with the plan. Whitley nodded slowly as he waved his hand dismissively*

Whitley: As long as the goal is reached, I'm more than ready to wait for it. But since you'll be staying there. I... I need you to keep an eye out on Weiss

Ruby: I see. Is there any particular reason?

*Ruby asked with a raised eyebrow, Whitley pursed his lips. And looked as if he sucked some sour grapes, ruby saw it in his eyes. There was a flash of emotion. There was concern behind them*

Whitley: Yeah. To save her. It was too late to save winter. But Weiss still has a chance to escape our father's control. With you on her corner, I know that she will

Ruby: I don't work for free, you know

*Ruby said expecting a big bag of cash, but it never materialized. Instead, Whitley got up and walked up to her. Like jaune Whitley was one of the few males that could get close to ruby*

Whitley: I know. But I'm not gonna give you any money. No. I have something much more valuable to offer you.

Ruby: And what may that be? It must be something pretty rare. Since you know that there's not much I love more than money.

*Ruby said, crossing her arms. Whitley nodded as he knew exactly what buttons to push, to make ruby help him, and the best part is that he'll be doing some good while doing it*

Whitley: Help me with weiss. And I'll expand my business, to make matters more clear, instead of saving slaves from only atlas. I'll save them from atlas and vacuo while you are away

Ruby:....now that is a really good deal. But are you sure? The bigger your influence is, the higher the risk. It'll be for your father to find out the truth.

*Ruby said, Whitley just chuckled and waved his hand dismissively. He long since stopped caring about the risks. Since he knew what he was doing was just and righteous, even if he was becoming too arrogant for Ruby's liking*

Whitley: I appreciate the concern. But I'll be fine. I can more than protect myself. I have already discussed this with Raven. She's more than willing to sell her portals to me, so what do you say ruby? Do we have a deal?

Ruby: deal. But I have to go now. I've got a long journey in front of me

*Ruby said, as they gave a small shake of their hands, before ruby got on top of miracle, and grabbed the reins of her horse*

Whitley: Where are you going anyway?

Ruby: it's Penny's birthday.... I'm gonna go celebrate with her

*Ruby said, as she made, miracle start to run. She had a long journey ahead of her, days and nights of riding, but she'll make it back to vacuo, just in time to celebrate Penny's birthday, even if by the time she returns, it'll be time to head back to beacon*

Meanwhile, with Salem

*We see her on her throne, a hand supporting her head, as she listens to Arthur speak about how reverse engineering the giant robot was going*

Salem: Tell me something, Arthur. How has my little pet project been doing?

Arthur: There's no complaints, my lady. The rose has been doing each mission without complaint.

*Arthur explained, Salem nodded as she thought of the little girl, who'll be her ticket to finally die and be reunited with her children*

Salem: Hm. Beacon will be starting again soon, will it not? I believe it's time to start pulling back on the rose's rewards. Leave me.

Arthur: As you wish, my lady.

*Arthur said without complaints as he left, Salem got up and started walking away, walking down to the dungeon of her castle. She walked past all the screaming souls, praying for a death that would never come, Since if she can't die, she won't give her prisoners a luxury she can't have. After much walking, she made it to a door at the deepest part of the dungeon. She opened it, seeing the prisoner chained up to the walls, with a lifeless look on their eyes*

Salem: My, oh my, how long has it been since I've visited you, pet?

*Salem asked. As she walked to the prisoner and rubbed her cheek, the broken prisoner didn't even move her head away. Just let it happen.*

Salem: You have nothing to worry about. Since all of this. Is coming to an end. Since I found a new pet, a little rose that will not disappoint me like you have

???:rose...?

*The prisoner said Salem could hear it, the smallest bit of emotion behind her tone. It made Salem chuckle as she cut the palm of her hand and made the prisoner lick it. Quickly, the prisoner's skin started to turn white as her veins became noticeable and black*

Salem: Yes, a rose. Ruby rose, to be exact. Does that name mean anything to you?

Summer: No....
