*Yang woke up groaning, feeling a bruise at the back of her neck, she got up and looked around, she was in some sort of dark pit, all her clothes were gone, the only thing she had on was a couple of rags, she felt something itching away at her neck, and she scratched it*

???: I wouldn't do that if I were you Xiao long

*Yang heard the voice of her little sister, she looked up and saw her leaning against the railing, ruby jumped down and landed, she cracked her knuckles as she walked towards her, Yang saw ruby wearing the same collar as her*

Yang:where are we? And what's this thing on our necks?

Ruby: where we are ? in the pit. The place every single initiate has to pass to start their journey into becoming a member of the branwen tribe

*Ruby said, walking closer to yang, yang being far too trusting, got up not expecting anything, she just kept looking around, she saw the place above them packed with what can only be other members of the clan, looking down at her*

Ruby:as for the collars? Say hello to a small slice of hell your actions made me experience. Anti semblance collar.

*Ruby said, making yang flinch. She didn't notice that ruby had a hand behind her back, a hand that was wearing a brass knuckle*

Ruby:While you have those on your semblance and aura are deactivated, if you try to take them off they will electrocute you so hard, that your nails will turn black. And that's just level 1. But we've stalled enough, time for the first trial to begin.

Yang:ah, so what's the first trial? Do I show them the incredibleness that is the yellow dra....

*Yang didn't get a chance to finish that sentence as ruby punched her in the gut with the brass knuckle so hard that the wind was taken out of her, yang hunched down holding her stomach, giving ruby a chance to punch her again on her neck, right on her bruise. Yang wanted to scream, but no sound would come out of her voice, as she fell to her knees*

Ruby:your first trial is simple. Endure. Every single member of the clan will get 10 minutes to attack you, and all you have to do is endure. If you pass out, the clocks reset and you have to start from zero all over again. Now do me a favor xiao long

*Ruby said grabbing yang by her hair, lifting her up, yang felt anger for someone touching her hair, but no fire would come up*

Ruby:breath with me. Come on, deep breaths. Before you pass out

*Ruby said breathing slowly, yang repeated Ruby's breathing exercise. She inhaled and exhaled, when she inhaled again, ruby punched her in the nose breaking it. Yang screamed holding her nose in pain*

Yang:fucking bitch!!!

Ruby:been called way worse, all because you ran away Xiao long. Like slut, whore, Fleshlight. So many wonderful words a little 6 year old learned by my master, the master you left me with rattlesnake jake

*Ruby said, using a mix of physical and emotional punches to break yang, yang just groaned in response, ruby glanced at the clock, only 3 minutes has passed, she got on top of yang and started to punch her over and over again*

Ruby:what's wrong Xiao long? Don't got nothing to say? Just imagine how much pain you caused your little sister.

*Ruby said with amusement in her tone, as she kept punching, her smile becoming more predatory, more similar to rattlesnake jake. Yang finally started fighting back, pushing ruby off her. Ruby got up quickly and walked around the blonde girl who was struggling to get up, since ruby concentrated all her punches to the face, making yang very disoriented*

Ruby: aw poor little dragon, can't take a punch. You wouldn't have lasted a week in the hell you put me in. All the whippings, all the punches, all the TOUCHING

*Ruby emphasized the touching part, laced completely in venom, Yang slowly made it back up, holding her hands up in a boxing position*

Yang:I'm....I'm sorry

*Yang said softly, trying to concentrate in the fight, and not in Ruby's words, she's not saying anything that yang hasn't thought of before*

Yang:I'm sorry ruby, I know I ruined your childhood, I know I...

*Ruby punched yang, but she blocked it, she saw the evil smirk growing on Ruby's face, and she heard the soft click of a button being pressed, yang screamed as the brass knuckle was also a very powerful stun gun*

Ruby: god i hate when people apologize.

*Ruby said, turning off the electricity, and punching yang in the stomach again. Pushing her back*

Ruby: apologies don't mean shit, it doesn't erase what you did, all it does it gives the one apologizing a pathetic sense of closure. And I'm not gonna give that to you Xiao long, no...

*Ruby was so distracted that she didn't notice her grasp was slipping, as the whispers were becoming stronger. And then ruby said it, ruby said the thing that broke yang, more than any punch from her ever could*

Ruby:I'm sorry isn't gonna give me back the virginity jake took from me, now is it?

*Ruby said devoid of emotions, said it was so soft that only yang and herself could hear it. While yang was frozen in shock ruby ran to yang and kicked her in the face while she was down. She looked down at her sister, seeing her crying, bloodied, and broken. The sick twisted smile on her face seeing the absolute broken spirit of yang, changed to a frown, since she didn't see yang. She saw herself, she saw the little girl who was abused by Jake. All the whispers disappeared but one, and ruby knew who it belonged to*

Jake:go on petal, finish the job

*Ruby heard with a voice so soft, it sounded like it came from the wind, but it still sent a shiver up her spine. Ruby turned around and walked away, as much as she would love to continue, the whispers were that last whispered ruined whatever enjoyment she was having*

Ruby:tagging out, get the next person in there

Raven:shame, just when it was getting good

*Raven said, she wondered what ruby said to yang, but seeing her daughter laid there on the floor crying. She didn't care, but was very impressed with ruby. Raven snapped her fingers and the other tribe memeber jumped down to continue with the trial*

A bit later

*The trial was still going strong, but ruby wasn't enjoying the show, no, we see her in her hut, laid down on the no doubt stolen couch looking up at the ceiling. The image of yang and her younger self still stuck in her mind, that she barely noticed Glynda opening the door*

Glynda:I'm surprised, I would think seeing Xiao long get beat up, would be your cup of tea

Ruby:and I'm surprised you lasted so long before leaving.

*Ruby mumbled without looking at her, Glynda hummed and sat down on the coffee table, she didn't speak. Just looked at ruby waiting for her to talk. It took 15 minutes before she said something*

Ruby:it's not fair. Because she ran away, so much horrible things happened to me. But the moment I start hitting her, start giving her a taste of what I went through for years. It gave me no satisfaction.

Glynda:I see. In my professional opinion getting revenge never gives anyone satisfaction. Sure at the moment you get some short dopamine, you'll feel relief that it's over. But after that? You'll just feel hollow. Now, when you saw yang in that state it made you feel guilt, because your a better person than you used to be, since you felt sympathy for her. Not pity, sympathy

*Glynda explained, ruby said up straight and sighed, she kept looking at the wall trying to get her thoughts in order*

Ruby:I miss things from before I came to beacon. I know for a fact that old me would've loved every second of that.

Glynda:I'm sure she would've. But that girl's gone, you are what remains

*Glynda said, and that small statement made ruby finally look at her, a big frown on her face, not wanting to feel these emotions*

Ruby:how do I know that what remains is better than what was before?

Glynda:because before you were living out of spite, you wanted to outlive Jake, the doctor, ironwood, etc. but now? Tell me ruby, what are you living for now? What is driving you to become stronger?

*Glynda asked, more then glad that ruby is finally opening up more then normal. Ruby pursed her lips and thought about it for a minute, images of Pyrrha came to mind. But not just her, Nora, velvet, Jaune, Whitley, etc. The people she considers her friends came to mind*

Ruby:..... I...... I want to protect Angel, I want to protect pancakes, bunbun, and pretty boy. I....I want to protect my friends.

Glynda:oddly named nicknames aside, now that's a good reason to improve, remember this quote "you don't die for your friends, you live for them"

*Glynda said with a proud smile, that smile turned into confusion when she saw the small smirk of ruby*

Ruby:... isn't that from that cartoon fairy tail?

Glynda:.....how do you know about that show?

*Glynda said horrified that her nerd side was caught, she definitely didn't think ruby even knew what an anime was, and giving that she called it a cartoon, she was proven right. Ruby just shrugged*

Ruby:pretty boy gave me a few DVDs of shows he liked, fairy tail was one of them. Honestly, I must admit the show was good, but the pairing was atrocious. I mean Natsu should be with Juvia. He would treat her so much better than that ice prick, But that's not important, I'm surprised someone like you still watches cartoons

Glynda:I see.....well I'm getting a little peckish, I'm gonna see what the butcher has in stock

*Glynda said embarrassed as she walked out of there hutt as fast as she could, ruby snickered a little and took out her scroll out, she opened it up, and there clear as day. Was all the messages left unread of Pyrrha Nikos*

Ruby:...... I feel like she forgets I can barely read.

*Ruby said to herself, throwing the scroll to the coffee table, she refused to call Pyrrha. She wants to see how long it'll take for Pyrrha to come do that realization for herself*
