Let's make y'all cry

In the morning

*Ruby opened the door to the hotel room, she saw the team already awake, just sitting down to have breakfast. Everyone looked at her, ruby looked awful, her hair was a mess, bags under her eyes starting to appear, and red eyes from tiredness and tears, ruby ignored them and walked to the small fridge*

Oobleck:ah, miss rose! So gl...is that coffee?

Ruby:it is, no, I'm not sharing

*Ruby said taking out of the fridge some cold brew coffee in soda cans. Oobleck almost had stars in his eyes, but ruby slapped his hand away from her cans, and mumbled something, ruby yawned and pinched of her nose*

Ruby:just...just putting it out there so you won't ask, I woke up early and went for a run. Now I'm going to take a shower

Oobleck:that's fine, but first take your medication, then you can take a shower

*Oobleck said putting the pills on the counter, ruby didn't have the energy to fight it, or even complain. Just as she was about to take them, her hand froze for a moment, since the new voice in her head wanted to put in her two cents*

Rose:that's a good bell, keep taking those pills, I'm sure there working. I'm sure there not just sugar pills to keep you weak for ozpin's ploy

Ruby:shut up...

*Ruby muttered weakly, taking the pills and drinking them down with her coffee, she gagged, even with the coffee the awful after taste of the pills didn't go away*

Ruby:god i hate these pills

Rose:the stop taking them, you don't need them. Your strong enough on your own

*Rose said with a loving smile on her face, ruby ignored her, ruby was waving back and forth, the signs of fatigue was clear for anyone to see....well anyone but jaune, but he's special. Ruby ignored oobleck and whatever he was talking about the mission. She cracked opened another can and walked to the bathroom while drinking it*

Minutes later

With team Jwby

*Yang was tapping her leg fast on the floor glancing at the bathroom door, they could hear the water running, so it was safe to talk about ruby*

Yang:I know something not right, she's clearly not ok, I should go talk to her, do you think I should go talk to her?

Weiss:no, no I do not. I know she talked to you last night, but that was because she was in a real vulnerable position. But things have changed, she seems like she's back to her normal self, if not a tired version of it, I wouldn't rock the boat if I was you

*Weiss said honestly, no sarcasm, no rich snob attitude, she was genuinely trying to help yang. And yang hated it, she sighed bitting her lower lip, she knew Weiss was right, and it was killimg her. Yang felt Blake's hand in her shoulder for support*

With ruby

*Ruby got out of the shower and dried herself off, she was mumbling things to herself, all meaningless pep talks trying to get herself to feel better, but after last night, it was all pretty much useless, she looked at herself in the mirror, the make up was starting to come off, she could just make out the scales if she looked hard enough, the remind her of who she really is*

Jake:there she is. Just look at yourself, slowly becoming me

*Ruby hissed a Jake, but didn't have the strength to deny it, she didn't think she could deny it, and that scared her*

Jake:oh my pappi would be so proud, did I tell you...

Ruby:he taught you everything you know....everything

*Ruby muttered, as much of a sick fuck that Jake was in the end, he was a victim in his own right, since his father used him the same way Jake used ruby, only difference was that ruby broke that cycle, and jake couldn't. shaking her head trying to make Jake go away, but he didn't leave, sadly for ruby it just brought another voice out*

Penny:aw you look so cute like that, why couldn't you look like that when I was alive? That way I wouldn't have had my first kiss stolen by a freak

Ruby:god damn, it will you both just shut up?!

*Ruby yelled at them, but they didn't react, how could they react when they weren't there, it was quiet, her mind felt quiet. Something she hasn't felt since she had alcohol in her system*

Rose:it's nice isn't ?

Ruby:5 seconds....5 glorious seconds of peace

*Ruby muttered with a defeated chuckle, she looked at rose sitting on the toilet, smiling at her"

Rose:oh, I can give you more then 5 seconds. I can protect you from them, I'm stronger then the other 3 I can make them leave you alone. Permanently

Ruby:heh, you think I can't do the same thing? There's another way to make them stop....to make everything stop

*Ruby muttered softly as she grabbed one of the jackals, she looked at It with a slowly growing smile on her face as she pointed it right where the chip scar is*

Ruby:I could do it...I could end it all right here right now, no more disappointment of not being as good as summer, not being able to live up to her legacy, no more crippling pressure of not being able to save enough people, no more reminders that I can't save anyone I cared about, no more reminders of what that fucking snake did to me. This whole sick story of my life, could end right here right now. And you know something? I....I can think of a hundred reasons on why I should pull the trigger...but I can't think of a reason not too...and I'm glad about that

*Ruby said with a shuttering breathless laugh, she felt relief, she felt happiness, she felt like this is what she's supposed to do, how she's supposed to end. Who cares about a bang, as long as it's over. With a big tired smile, ruby started squeezing her trigger finger, till she heard a knock on the door*

Blake:ruby you ready to go?!

Ruby:g...give me a minute! You guys go on ahead, I know the location!

*Ruby yelled back harshly, she shook her head waking up a little, she looked at her hand and tossed the gun to the counter, taking enough steps back so her back hits the wall. She hugged herself to try and stop the trembling, but it did very little, when her heart was pounding so hard. With a small breath she ignored the snickering happening next to her*

Jake:oh, come on petal. You were so close

Penny: he's right, don't you want to pay me back for saving your life? What better way then taking your own

*Ruby heard the voice say, ruby took some calming breaths, that didn't do anything but make her breathing erratic, she walked to the sink and splashed some more water on her face*

Ruby:I...I need more coffee...

Rose:what you need is a break...

*Ruby heard her again, she felt a pair of arms wrap from behind her, the warm calming feeling from last night was back*

Rose:I'm not gonna force you do to anything ruby, but just listen. I can make them stop, you will never again have to hear them, see them. Feel him. You'll be safe in my embrace...

*Ruby heard rose whispering. She gulped but her mouth felt dry, she wanted to move, to get out of the cramp room and get some air, but she honestly didn't think she had the strength to take a step. She looked herself in the mirror, she saw rose smiling face caressing her hair. She gave a low hiss and pushed herself away, ruby grabbed her gun and walked/fell out of the bathroom taking a huge breath she didn't realize she was holding*

Yang;ruby you ok?

Ruby:what..yang, what are you doing here?

*Yang froze, she legitimately just froze, ruby used her first name. It wasn't forced, it wasn't through begging, it just happened and yang didn't know how to process it except let tears of happiness just start to fall, ruby didn't seem to notice, she was in a whole nother world to notice*

Ruby:whatever... Let's... let's just go to the client's home. We're stopping for coffee on the way..and donuts, coffee and donuts

Yang:r..right behind you!

*Yang said smiling brightly, she walked next to ruby to make sure the sleep deprived girl didn't fall, ruby glanced down at the gun on the holster, and what she almost did. She doesn't know what scares her more, how she almost did it, or how she wasn't afraid of doing it*

Scene change

*We see team JWBY, oobleck and ruby back on the train, after talking to the man who asked for the help*

Oobleck: alright, this train will take us to the closest station to the abandoned city, after we'll get there by horse ride, everybody ready? You are? Fantastic!

*Oobleck said and winced when he failed again to take Ruby's cup of coffee. He huffed and sat back down, ruby looked out the window again, ignoring yang's continuous glancing at her. It was a choice between sitting next to jaune a man, or yang her sister*

Ruby"i should've picked jaune, dealing with my distrust is better then dealing with her annoying me like this"

*Ruby thought as she took another bite of her donut and they watched the train move on out of Panem, away from the place that gave ruby a new and permanent voice, rose was here to stay, and she's not satisfied being just a voice*

Rose:you have to sleep sometime ruby, don't worry. Once you do I'll the there to protect you from everything....
