Klein:there we are, good as can be. Now I recommend lots of rest

*Klein said finishing the last bandage on Ruby's body, Klein started cleaning up while in the background penny was waking everybody up. Well everyone except Ren and Nora who looked cute cuddled up together. Ruby spat out the rubber object to the floor, the thing looked like it was one good bite away from snapping in half, and she took a weak breath*

Ruby:god, I would give me human hand for a drink right now, thanks Klein. As always your the best at what you do

Klein:my, your...welcome miss rose

*Klein said surprised that ruby rose actually gave him a compliment. Whitley yawned getting up from the chair and stretching*

Whitley:alright, our work here is done, and it's only....2 in the morning, my where does the time go.

Klein:quite right, till next we meet miss rose. Here's hoping it's in better condition

*Klein said grabbing his medical bag and leaving a bottle of pills, for the pain ruby will no doubt fill In the morning*

Ruby:I don't see that happening in the future

Whitley;neither do I, till next we meet rose. Now excuse us we really may be going.

Pyrrha:yes, I'm sure your father must be worried sick about your whereabouts

*Whitley snorted and Klein rolled his eyes, that's the last thing in both of there minds*

Whitley:please, I know he doesn't even know I'm gone. Nah it's more do the fact that the mask warrior can't be left without supervision

*Whitley and Klein trembled remembering what happened last time that well meaning maniac was left alone for so long. Whitley gave a small bow do them and walked away with Klein. Pyrrha closed the door and turned around, she saw penny helping ruby out of the bed, and ruby of course complaining*

Ruby:the bed is fine, just let me sleep

Penny:rosy that bed is filled with your blood and sweat, I know you've slept in worse so shut it.

*Penny said with a small smirk, ruby huffed and puffed up her cheeks in a pout, Pyrrha had a small smile seeing that interaction. Penny put ruby on the sofa as soft as she could, she turned around took the dirty sheets off and flipped the mattress around*

Penny: I'm gonna go find new sheets, Pyrrha make sure she doesn't fall asleep on the couch, she'll wake up sore in the morning

Ruby: penpen I just had surgery without any cactus juice to dull the pain, on a shitty motel, I'm pretty sure I'll wake up sore no matter where I sleep

*Ruby said grumbling, penny ignored her and walked out. Pyrrha took a breath and sat down on the armchair in front of ruby*

Pyrrha:penny for your thoughts?

Ruby:I'm... I'm struggling, I'm struggling between being selfish and doing what's best for her

*Ruby admitted with a sigh, Pyrrha looked at her confused, and motion her hand for ruby to continue*

Ruby:I...I want to be selfish and make her stay with me. But if she stays she won't be safe, no matter what I choose I'll end up losing another one of her...

Pyrrha:you must be really happy to have penny back

*Pyrrha said with a soft smile, ruby was too weak to hide it, she let her emotions show, and let sadness be free*

Ruby:I would rather life in the ugly truth, then a beautiful illusion, no matter how beautiful that illusion might be....

Pyrrha;what illusion? She's real. Penny is right here

Ruby:no, I'm glad that version of penny is safe, but....she's not her. She'll never BE her. She's not my penny...

*Ruby said with a sad smile, the smile never even came close to reaching her eyes, Pyrrha stopped smiling and looked at ruby with concern*

Ruby: she's....she's her own person, treating her as if she's the first one would be nothing short of a insult do the both of them. Hopefully now that she's safe, she can become her own person

Pyrrha:what do you mean safe?

*Pyrrha asked, ruby licked her lips and took out her flask, she took a swing of the liquid with a sigh of disappointment*

Ruby:apple juice, not even close do the real thing. Anyway, I mean that whoever build her, the crazy father. Forced her into the role of penny, what do you think he did every time she did something the human penny wouldn't have done?

Pyrrha:I can only imagine, but hey at least now she's free right?

Fake penny:yeah, at least she's not dead like me! Wonder how long you'll be able to keep her safe

*Ruby didn't response to either of them, she just closed her eyes and went to sleep, Pyrrha didn't try to wake her up, sadly her brain wasn't finished*

Fake penny:I wonder is she could ever love someone like you, oh I'm just teasing. I know she'll never be able to love someone as broken as you, I sure as hell couldn't

*Ruby heard the sick twisted penny of her head whisper harshly to her ear, but she didn't react. Pyrrha got up and walked closer to her,  Kissing her forehead with a soft smile*

Pyrrha;I'm sure penny won't mind if you sleep for a bit....

Inside Ruby's brain

*We see a normal skin, normal girl ruby waiting at a bench. Today was the day, today was the big day. Was she nervous? Very, but nothing was gonna stopped her from today*

Ruby: it's fine, it's totally fine. She's just 20 minutes late, that's totally cool. She would never stood you up, you know her

*Ruby kept muttering to herself, she almost missed the sound of high heels running at her direction*

Penny:sorry I'm late! Hello ruby

*Ruby heard the sweet voice of her date say, she looked up and blushed, seeing penny in a yellow and black dress sporting a small blush of her own*

Ruby:You're so pretty....

*Ruby whispered softly, but penny heard it. It made her giggle, she grabbed Ruby's hands and listed her up*

Penny: thanks, I love that leather jacket you have on. So, ready to go? I know this great secluded place, just the two of us

*Ruby said with a smile, being the smaller of the two, she hugged Penny's arm as they walked. Ruby was so excited of going on a date with the girl she loves*

Real world

*Ruby was on the freshly made bed, pyrrha sleeping next to her, and penny being the look out, they didn't see the tear falling from Ruby's face. Since that wasn't a dream, it was a nightmare. Since Ruby's brain is giving her something she knows can never have or be Normal. Ruby was trapped in a beautiful illusion that'll make her feel as if she was shot in the heart the second she wakes up*

Morning

*After the shock of team CRME finding out that ruby was alive and well, well alive and patched. They were all getting ready to leave when a red portal opened up in front of them, raven walking out*

Ruby:raven.

Raven:petal, came to give you another necklace for the next time you need me, and for the second favor I already know your gonna ask me

*Raven said with confidence, she walked up to ruby and gave her the necklace, ruby took it and placed it under her clothes. The fear was still there, she was just too weak to show it, ruby looked at everyone else*

Ruby:you all go on ahead, I'll catch up. Penny stay with me will yeah?

Penny:of course rosy

*Team CRME walked away not being there business, Ren walked not caring, with Nora giving ruby a goodbye wave as she jog to catch up to Ren. Pyrrha looked at ruby with concern. But the look ruby was giving her was enough to make her move*

Pyrrha:please be careful around her

Ruby:believe me I will

*Ruby said with a sigh, the face ruby gave Pyrrha was one that said "please trust me". Ruby was glad that she did. Once gone penny looked at ruby confused"

Penny:so, what's all this about?

Ruby:you don't love me.

*Ruby simply said, leaning against the wall. Penny flinched and looked at ruby confused*

Penny;what....what are you talking about? Of course I love you

Ruby:you think you do, you have all the memories that shows that you do. But there not your memories. Your not her penny, your you're own person

*Ruby said pushing herself off the wall and walking do her, ruby placed her hand on Penny's cheek caressing it a little. What looks like a romantic gesture it's really confirmation, her skin as soft as porcelain.*

Penny:ruby...

Ruby: don't lie to me, don't lie to yourself, I can see it in your eyes. Those memories, atlas, your father....me, all just shackles of a life that wasn't yours.

* Ruby kept running her thumb on Penny's perfectly smooth cheek, Not like human Penny's rough skin from being on the sun and the sand, just confirming more to Ruby's heart that her penny is dead. And that the dream is just that, a dream. Penny grew a sad smile*

Penny:how come you can see it, when my own father couldn't...?

Ruby:because he doesn't want to, he wants to life in a happy illusion where penny never died. You know I don't live like that, I see the ugly truth of the world for what it is. Not for what I want it to be

*Penny grabbed Ruby's hand and softly pulled it away from her face, they interlocked them*

Penny:she....she loved you you know? She was naive, but she knew that she loved you. And wanted you to be safe

Ruby:I know, I loved her too...i still love her, still miss do this day. But you don't love me penny, and I'm not gonna force you to just because you have her memories

*Ruby pulled the interlocked hand to her and kissed gently Penny's hand, as much as she didn't want to, she let go of it*

Raven:If you two are done, I do have things to do you know

Ruby:if summer were here you would be doing the same so shut it

*Ruby hissed harshly, raven frowned at her. Ruby knew she'll pay for that when raven asked for her favor, but she didn't care right now*

Ruby:it's about time you head off penny, you have a new adventure waiting for you, one I can't even begin to imagine

Penny:thank you ruby, for freeing me, for making a sacrifice I know you didn't want to make. I know why she fell in love you, that golden heart of yours. I know Pyrrha will fall in love for the same reason

*Penny said wrapping her arms around Ruby's neck and giving ruby a quick kiss on the lips she let got and let a wet chuckle escape her lips*

Penny:your lips are still dry

Ruby:heh, get going will yah ? And...and remember to be your own person ok?

*Penny nodded and let go, she walked to the portal, but stopped at the last second and turned around, she gave ruby the biggest smile she could*

Penny:bye bye rosy

*Penny said as Her and raven disappeared into the portal and disappeared to the other side of the world, a place where she'll be safe*

Ruby:they won't be able to find her....I don't be able to find her again. I hope you enjoy your new life penny

*Ruby said as she turned around pulling her hat down to hide the tears she's letting fall freely, a small smile still on her face, as she walked to the sunrise to catch up with the rest. The mission was finished, but ruby just felt hollow*

Ruby:bye penpen, I love you...

*Ruby whispered to no one as she walked the same way all outlaws walk in life, and the way ruby feels is the only way she can be. alone, totally and completely alone, with ghosts of her past being her only companion. Or so she thought*

*Neo though as she spied the whole thing at orders of cinder. She started dashing to cinder before ruby gets there first. A plan to convert her already building in her head*
