*We see her at the entrance of the school, hands in her pocket waiting for somebody to arrive, she frowned when she started hearing two girls talk about her sister*

Kim:oh did you hear? That little freak apparently eats live rats! My friends saw her actually eating rats!

Mini:oh my God no way! Gross!!

*Yang crossed her arms so hard that a little blood started to come from her nails digging into them so hard*

Yang"not gonna attack them, not gonna attack them, not gonna attack them, I already have 2 strikes, so you can't attack them"

*Yang thought as she heard the cackles of those vultures grow smaller and smaller until they disappeared, yang took a breath of relief and kept waiting, she felt something cold on her shoulder, she looked and smiled seeing blake offering her a soda, she took it and started drinking it*

Blake:you know, you can just wait back at our dorm. I'm sure they'll stop by there anyways

Yang:I know, I just...don't know if you know this, but I hate waiting

*Blake snorted loudly, yang gave her an unamused expression but then looked back at the road*

Yang:laugh it up fuzzball, but yeah, always found my gifts early on Christmas, always needed to have things right away. Kinda didn't help that dad became attached to me after....the incident

Blake:I can imagine, have...you told him about her?

*Yang sighed and looked at another direction, Blake sat down next to yang and placed her hand on her shoulder*

Yang:I'm scared, I'm scared that if I tell him. His mental health will take a step backwards, I'm scared that ruby will blame him for leaving me in charge that night, I'm scared of what Dad will do if he finds out summer's legacy lives on....

Blake:but keeping him in the dark? Yang you've seen her, she's careless with her own life. How much longer till her luck runs out and she dies for real? Can you live with the fact that her father never got to see her again?

*Yang sighed and looked up at the sky, she didn't speak for a while just sat there looking at the clouds trying to collect her thought before she finally spoke again*

Yang:we all have our cross to bare, it's better that he lives happily in his illusion then live in the misery of the real world, to live with the fact that her daughter hates her mother

Blake:it's you decision so I'll respect it. But sometimes a illusion can be worse then the harsh truth that is reality yang.

*Before Blake could continue both saw the reason yang was waiting for, Yang got up and smiled waving at velvet scarlatina*

*velvet seeing yang coming towards her she smiled and waved back*

Yang:hey velvet, so how is she?

Velvet:she's....getting there, the medicine is certainly helping

*Velvet said with an awkward laugh, not wanting to tell yang about Ruby's alcohol withdrawal, and give yang even more reason to worry*

Yang:great, how about the cookies did she like them?

Velvet:she ate at least half of them while she told her story

*Yang smiled brightly, velvet swears she saw a rainbow flying above the blond first year student. Blake walked next to yang putting her hand on her shoulder*

Blake:so she ate the cookies, are you satisfied? You know she can never know those things came from you

Velvet:much left that they were summer rose recipe

*Velvet muttered remembering all the times ruby insulted her mother, the times she sneered at the very notion of her name, it was the one thing velvet didn't like about her since velvet would give anything to see her mother again. Yang didn't hear velvet but Blake did, she placed that little nugget on the vault and looked at yang who just shrugged*

Yang: true, but at least she like them! That's something, it's progress even if it's the smallest bit, it's still progress! This call for a celebration!

Blake:sigh, why did I know you were gonna say that?

*Blake said as yang hugged her shoulder and took her with her to the closest night club. Velvet gave a weak chuckle as she waved them off before going back to her walk to her dorm. She looked up at the sky with a bit of a frown of concern*

Velvet:ruby, I wish you luck for what you'll go through, hope Pyrrha can help you out

Meanwhile with ruby

*We see her at the backyard, the shaking mostly stopped but would start up again at random, ruby was just looking at the setting sun, the face of penny couldn't help to appear instead of the sun in Ruby's imagination*

*her smile made ruby look another way with a scowl and a cross of her arm*

Ruby"that frustrating smile, god i hated that smile"

*Ruby thought to herself, it was a complete lie, that smile always made ruby grow a small smile of her own, but now? All it does is remind her that she couldn't protect that smile like she protected ruby*

Pyrrha:sorry it took so long, here. It's not cactus juice, but it'll help calm your nerves

*Pyrrha said softly as she placed the tea on the table, ruby grabbed the mug, she looked at the liquid trembling slightly inside the cup and took a big gulp, Pyrrha looked surprised but ruby smirked a little*

Ruby:not the same burning sensation I'm used to but close enough I suppose. Thanks angel

Pyrrha:no problem, how are you feeling?

*Ruby glanced back at the sun, penny was gone and all that remained was the orange skies as the sun disappeared. Ruby closed her eyes and just enjoyed the few moments of warmth she had left, before the moon would come up*

Ruby:the hallucinations are coming, by tomorrow if I had to guess, that should be a fun experience for me to go through again...

Pyrrha:don't worry, you won't face them alone, I'll be here for you

*Ruby gave a small cackle that made Pyrrha frown, since it wasn't a kind cackle, no. It Was a bitter and hollowed cackle*

Ruby:last i checked angel face, I'm the only one with the fucked up mind. I'll be the only one reliving everything. Do the point I'll be able to feel his damned hands again...

*Ruby said her legs slowly lifting themselves as ruby hugged them, trembling from the thought of him touching her again. She felt Pyrrha's hand on her shoulder, ruby wanted to push it away, but she was too tired to do it*

Pyrrha:I know I won't be able to do much for that, but I'll be here physically. You won't face that alone ruby, I promise. Your my friend

*Ruby gave a small role of her eyes, but she scooted closer to Pyrrha who welcomed it*

Pyrrha: you'll see just 26 more days to go

Ruby:you suck at cheering people up nikos

*Ruby said with a bit of a chuckle, Pyrrha just shrugged with a smile, they stayed there until the sun was gone, ruby got up and went inside with Pyrrha following her as if she was her dog. Pyrrha eyes widen almost forgetting that ruby liked to sleep in the nude*

Pyrrha:I.. isn't it a bit early to go to sleep?

Ruby:part snake, without the sun I started getting slower and sleepier. Normally I'm already asleep at sunset, so that I can fall asleep with the warmth

*Ruby said taking the last bit of her clothes and feeling so much more free, the only thing she refused to take off was her red bandana, Pyrrha was looking at anywhere but ruby, seeing her naked so close made her feel butterflies in her stomach without knowing why*

Pyrrha;t..then why didn't you?

Ruby:I enjoyed the company a bit too much

*Ruby said with a shrug ignoring the face Pyrrha was making, she felt so touched that ruby stayed up later just for her. But there moment was interrupted when Glynda opened the door*

Glynda:so sorry to interrupt, just checking in on. Oh good lord ruby, we talked about this!

Ruby;and I told you I'm not wearing that crap!

*Ruby and glynda started to bicker while Pyrrha could only stand there awkwardly. Sadly for ruby she was too tired to fight for too long and ended up caving on Glynda's demands, ended up wearing some shorts and a white shirt as pajamas for a compromise*

Glynda: honestly I don't know what was wrong with the pajamas I picked out for you

Ruby;what in the hell made you think that I would ever wear pink? Be grateful I'm using the underwear you made me buy, now bugger off and let me sleep

*Ruby said with a wave of her hand going to her bed, Glynda sighed and looked at Pyrrha who just gave a small bow*

Pyrrha;thank you again for letting me stay

Glynda:what's one more guest, and as much as ruby won't admit it I know she's happy your staying too

*Both looked at ruby who was facing the wall so to not see them, Pyrrha chuckled as she got on the bed and went to sleep with glynda leaving and closing the door. Ruby breath hitched softly as no matter if she closed her eyes or opened them it showed the same thing*
