Coco:are you gonna visit her again?

*Coco asked her girlfriend who was busy making chocolate chip cookies. Velvet took off her chef's hat and looked at Coco, Coco had to control herself over how cute velvet looked in her apron*

Velvet:well yeah, I like her outlaw stories, and she's really not that bad a girl,

Coco:were talking about the same girl that shoot her own teammate, I'm tempted to believe the rumors. I just want you to be safe

*Velvet frowned slightly, since ruby was gone the rumor mill did what it does best and spread rumors like no tomorrow, it painted cardin and his group as the victims in the fight and ruby nothing more then a dangerous outlaw*

Velvet:the rumors that's been spreading around are nothing but lies. I can see it in her eyes, she's nothing but a scared little girl, lashing out at the world.

Coco:ok, but that's not your problem. She's not your problem, while I'm thankful that she helped you. If you keep doing this cardin will just get worse, so why are you doing it?

*Velvet didn't respond for a moment and just looked at her wrist, she was able to hide it through mascara, long sleeve shirts and other things but she knows it's there, she remember the hot iron touching her skin permanently branding her as property. Velvet scarlatina was one of the people ruby freed*

Velvet:because what she gave me I can never give back, still I have to try

*Velvet said, coco sighed as velvet's tone made it clear that the conversation was finished. Velvet took the cookies out of the oven filling the dorm room with the scent of freshly baked cookies, she backed them in a bag and walked to her girlfriend giving her a loving smile*

Velvet:I'll be back soon honey, and please consider coming with me for a visit some other time

Coco: I'll...think about it, I love you

Velvet:I love you too

*Velvet walked out and walked along the halls of beacon, her ears picked up a lot of people talking it sometimes became overwhelming*

???:did you hear? I heard that little brat doesn't even know how to read, why is she even here?

*velvet heard someone spit out one of the rumors going around but she ignored it and kept walking till she reached a door. With a small breath she knocked, it took a few moments but it opened revealing team leader of team amazon pyrrha nikos*

Pyrrha:hello, oh! Your the bunny girl from the uh, lunch incident

Velvet:yes, hello. I was wondering If I could have a moment of your and your teams time?

*Pyrrha nodded and let her inside, velvet walked in and saw a boy reading a book and a girl eating a dangerously large stack of pancakes*

Velvet:uh, hello I'm velvet scarlatina. Second year student, I hope I'm not interrupting anything?

Pyrrha:oh no, not at all, we were just taking a break from studying. How can we help you?

*Velvet's heart started pounding faster, she started to grow nervous as she licked her lips*

Velvet"she freed from from slavery, the least you can too is free her from her self isolation tendencies, or at least help her take that first step"

*Velvet thought as a way to gain courage to herself*

Velvet:I uh, you see. I was gonna go visit Ruby and wondered if you guys wanted to join me

*Velvet's animal instincts were telling her to run, as the room became tense, Nora stopped eating and she could hear ren hold his book tighter. Pyrrha's smile became a bit more forced as she was feeling the same need to run but on a much smaller scale*

Pyrrha:w..well, I have been meaning to talk to her, I'll join you

*Pyrrha grabbed velvet's wrist and took her out of there before Ren did something he would regret*

With velvet and pyrrha

*They kept walking till they both felt safe, Pyrrha took a breath of relief and looked at velvet with a small smile*

Pyrrha:sorry about that, Nora...is the only thing Ren has left, ruby attacking her triggered his protective side

Velvet:I..it's alright, I just hope you all can move passed it and be a team before you all are send on a mission

*Pyrrha sighed and nodded, she knew ozpin would eventually do just that, and it worried her that Ren and ruby would come to blows*

Pyrrha: let's.... let's change the subject, are you visiting ruby to say thank you?

Velvet:oh no, I already did that days ago, I'm visiting her because no one deserves to be alone. I owe her that much

*Velvet said as she rubbed her wrist she could feel the 'P' mark there making her frown. Pyrrha glanced at velvet's wrist and saw a glimpse of it, being a smart girl she knew what it was*

Pyrrha:you....she save you, didn't she?

Velvet:me and so many others, I owe her my life, the least I can do is help her loneliness

*Pyrrha nodded and they started talking, pyrrha smiling as she heard velvet's story on how the rose saved the rabbit from being used as a breeding machine*

With ruby

*We see her lifting 10 pound weights, since ruby was banned from doing cardio until she's better, this was the most Glynda allowed her to do. Glynda was reading a book, she would occasionally glance at ruby who in part would occasionally glance at the clock*

Glynda; she'll be here don't worry

Ruby; I have no idea what your talking about

*Ruby said as she looked away from the clock, Glynda hummed, velvet would come to visit every day but today she was late*

Ruby; It's not that I care, there's just nothing to do here

*Ruby said to herself or to glynda, even she doesn't know. There was some truth to Ruby's words though, Glynda didn't have a TV, didn't have a radio, all she had was books, hence why ruby was lifting weights, it was at least something ruby could do to stop the boredom*

Glynda: there's not a lot you can do in your condition. I'll ask again, would you like a book? I have a large range of collections, I'm sure you'll find one to enjoy

Ruby:no, I'm fine like this,

*Ruby said in a harsh tone Glynda wasn't expecting, ruby kept lifting weights wishing she had her cactus juice right about now*

Flashback

*Jake was gone for a mission, ruby was left to clean the house with a chain around her ankle so that she doesn't run. Ruby finished and she glanced at something she shouldn't be glancing, Jake's little book collection, she was banned from even touching them, but ruby was bored. With a lick of her lips she grabbed a book and opened it, only for her to frown. What little reading education she had before she was taken from patch has long since disappeared, the pages all look like jumbled words*

*Ruby felt her heart drop to her stomach as she heard the door closing*

Jake:what do you think your doing? Looks like my little rose needs a lesson in following orders

*Jake hissed, the sound of his tail rattling filling the small home, ruby was scared and dropped the book scratching the cover. That made Jake all the more angrier, he walked over to her, a towering figure making ruby tremble in his shadow as ruby waited for the first punch to start*

Back to the present

*Ruby closed her eyes tight to stop the unwanted tears to start falling, ruby shook her head and with a shaky breath she kept lifting the weights to distract her even a little from the memory of the beating her mind was remembering, and ruby had no way to make the memories fuzzy again*

Jake"if I caught you reading again I'll scoop those eyes of you out of there sockets"

*Ruby heard the poison Jake words were leaking from the memory. Ruby was trapped in chains of his making, one of hi biggest gifts so that ruby can never forget him. He never taught ruby to read, and now ruby would feel too humiliated, too weak to ask To be taught. Humiliation, weakness, and a little fear even if she won't admit it. She was trapped by chains that she can't mentally escape from, since she can't ask for help. It leave ruby with the only option to lash out*

Glynda:there's no need for that tone miss rose, I'm simply giving you a suggestion

Ruby:a suggestion I never asked for, so drop it!

*Ruby said burning a hole to the wall with the glare she was giving it. Glynda being s professional kept quiet but she did make a note of it. Both heard the knock on the door and glynda smiled a little, whatever ruby was thinking disappeared at least for a moment as she saw ruby crack a smile for a few seconds. Before going back to her serious expression and look at Glynda*

Ruby:if your expecting me to open the door for you, you have another thing coming

Glynda:yes yes, I'll get it

*Glynda said in a calm tone as she got up and opened the door, smiling when she saw velvet and another with her*

Glynda:velvet, Pyrrha please come in ruby is just doing a bit of exercise
