*Penny said, having the gall to fake the sadness behind her voice. Ruby with tears falling from her face glared at Penny, her tail rattling as fast as it could rattle*

Ruby:like you promised me to have my back?

*Ruby spat out venom behind her voice, the statement made penny flinch and take a step back with her head down. Ruby pointed the gun at one of the soldiers took a step forward. The rest of the soldiers or 'atlas knight' as that prick calls them aimed there guns at ruby*

Ironwood:miss rose you can either come with us and be sold off like your supposed to or die right here

Penny:w..wait sold off?! You said she would be safe!!

*Penny said looking horrified at her commander, ironwood didn't spare her a glance*

Ironwood:it's the law of vacuo penny. She's a slave and a escaped slave must be brought to the authorities to be sold off, as keepers of the peace we must enforces the laws of the lands. And this are the laws of vacuo

Ruby:ironwood was it? Do me a favor and tell that cunt to stop with the act. She played her part well, she can stop pretending to give a crap about me

*Penny looked at ruby and then at ironwood her face looked like a million things were going through her head at once*

Ironwood:so what's it gonna be?

Ruby:I would rather die young with my naked truth than live my old -age with a forever lie

Glynda:.  .  . You said that?

Ruby:....ok so I actually go fuck yourself but let me have this I'm in a GREAT amount of pain and this pills ain't doing shit

Glynda:the doctor said that it will take a while till they take affect

Back to the past

*Ruby activated her semblance and went to attack ironwood. The mand didn't even flinch as ruby as shot on all sides by electric dust filled bullets. Making ruby fall to the ground screaming in pain as it felt as if a lightning bolt shot her and the energy refused to leave her body ironwood started walking towards ruby*

Ironwood:penny has been with you for a year, she already told us about your semblance and silver eyes. So we acted accordingly

*ironwood stopped walking once he next to the twitching girl trying to get her bearings in order*

Ironwood:as commander and chief of the atlas military, rose of vacuo you are under arrest for the freeing of property, the killing of multiple.....

*Ruby gave an infernal hissed as she jumped taking ironwood by surprised. Ruby stabbed her reptilian arm on ironwood shoulder deep enough to touch the bone and then she yanked ironwood's arm off his body making the man scream as blood streamed out of the large wound*

Winter:James!!!

*Ruby heard one of the soldiers scream. Ruby turned around just in time to see winter with her gun, one of those fancy looking rifles and shot at me. I couldn't use my semblance without facing severe consequence with all the electricity coursing through my veins*

Penny: ruby look out!!

*Penny pushed ruby out of the way as she was shot multiple times by that atlas military dogs known as winter schnee. Ruby looked shocked tears falling freely from her face as she looked at Penny falling on the floor*

Ruby:penny!!

*Ruby glared at the atlas knights a group of military robots, or humans ruby couldn't car less. her silver eyes shinning like never before as she gave a warriors cry and dashed towards them all, she spun around them faster and faster to the point they were lifted in to the air. Ruby thanks to all the electricity giving her a boost, managed to for a moment break her limits and go to speeds of 303 mph it was fast enough to create a tornado,the tornado engulfed every atlas knight, winter, ironwood even the ship they came from. Ruby managed to send them all flying to the night sky, to God knows where, but most of them won't be alive when they get there. Ruby stopped and gave a small screamed as her eyes deactivated, she felt a sharp pain in her ankles, and internal organs from breaking her limits by force*

Penny:r.. ruby...

*Ruby snapped her neck and ignored the pain in a flash she was next to a crying penny, ruby sat down and lifted her softly to Ruby's lap. Ruby had her hand on the back or Penny's head looking at her heartbroken*

Ruby:you stupid girl! Why would you do something so stupid?! I have silver eyes I would've been fine!

*Ruby screamed her voice cracking, quickly she was becoming a crying mess as she felt her friends body getting colder. Penny looked up at ruby giving her a soft smile*

Penny:because you are my friend, friends look after each other...

Back to the past

Ruby:after that she was gone, she saved my life twice and I couldn't do the same to her once...

*Ruby said bitterly, still dealing with the Survivor guilt of that day, she felt velvet's hand on her shoulder and ruby sighed finishing the story*

Ruby:Gave her a grave facing to the west so that she could see the setting sun, she always talked about how beautiful it was to see the sun set every day.

*Ruby said softly remembering the year she had a friend even if, most of it was faked. Glynda took it all in and spoke*

Glynda:if your up for it can we talk about the fight that brought you here? More specifically how you shot your own team member?

Ruby:make it quick

*Velvet poured ruby some more tea, ruby nodded at her and drank it slowly enjoying the chamomile tea that was making her sleepy without her realizing it*

Glynda: of course. So when you shot Nora, in your mind you did it to protect her, but more importantly yourself. from being responsible for her. If she were to get injured, what would you feel? Is it any different then if you would've been injured or killed?

Ruby:if I get injured or killed I can live with that, it means I'm not strong enough and I need to get better. Or that I can finally rest since my 2 cent life is finally over.

*Glynda frowned slightly not liking how low she thinks her life is worth, she kept writing on her iPad*

Glynda:but if someone dies or get injured while you are there, you take it personally? As if it's your responsibility to keep them safe?

Ruby:a strong person stands up for himself a stronger one stands up for others. It's something a...companion of mine once told me, I'm a strong person, but I'm not a stronger one since I can't deal with someone getting injured because I wasn't good enough to keep them safe. Penny died because I wasn't fast enough to dodge the bullets

*Ruby said in a tired tone, those pills she took was making her more opened to talk about things. More specifically it was making her too tired to keep up all those walls she keeps up*

Glynda:ruby, people get hurt all the time. We can't always control that

Ruby;that's an answer only a weakling would give. If I'm stronger I can control more, I can make sure no one tries to take advantage of me, or does under my ward.

*Glynda kept writing while velvet looked at ruby with pity. A little girl that lost so much and now fools herself that she is in control the randomness that is life*

Glynda:ruby you can't control everything

Ruby; ain't that the truth, if I could I would've never let that damned girl make a fool out of me

*Now velvet felt compelled to say something, she coughed getting there attention*

Velvet:but she saved you in the end, doesn't that count for something?

*Ruby scoffed as she got comfortable on the couch the pills she took finally taking affect*

Ruby:1 good deed doesn't change the fact that everything she did was based on a lie, it doesn't absolved her from the fact that the whole year we spend she was faking every little thing she did, to get closer to me and manipulate me to have my guard down. I almost died because I placed my trust, my heart and my weaknesses on a person. A mistake I'll make sure to never make again....

*Ruby said before falling asleep, Glynda closed her tablet and looked at velvet. Who was petting Ruby's hair to make sure she had a peaceful rest*

Glynda:I think it's best if you come back another day velvet, miss rose needs her rest. And I'm sure even if she doesn't say it she'll enjoy having your company around

Velvet: I'll talk with her teammates in a couple of days. Once there emotions come back to normal I'll see if I can make them come visit her, such a poor girl shouldn't be facing demons like this alone

*Glynda could only nod in agreement as she looked ruby sleeping. Looking almost peaceful, velvet got up and gave a small bow to her teacher before leaving. Glynda closed the door behind her and looked at ruby resting*

Glynda:in the end the same hero complex as you summer, only she has it for different reasons. I hope I don't fail her like I failed you...

*Glynda muttered softly having her own demons of guilt and regret to face. She shook her head and put an electric blanket on top of ruby. Ruby curled inside the blanket enjoying the warmth as she slept*
