Chapter Two : Blooming Rose

The day has been full of surprises.
First, I'm being swallowed by the eyes of a so-called psycho boy, then I'm sitting here witnessing Taylor already hitting it off with some dude we just met in science class...it's literally our first day. She's my best friend and all but sometimes she can end up doing too much.
A set of light brown eyes came into my view as I was spaced out gliding my eyes around the room. After focusing my vision, I noticed those brown eyes were looking at me...but in a secretive way as if I wasn't supposed to catch them on me. The face the eyes belonged to appeared to be a boy, he turned away and looked as if he was whispering to the person next to him. Kinda fishy if you ask me. Could be nothing, but on the other hand why would you start whispering after you have been spotted staring-...I really want to go over there and see what's going on, but I also don't want to go over there looking for trouble.

Writing down some notes our teacher put on the board, Taylor had raised her hand to politely ask if she may use the restroom.
Since we sat next to each other I slid her notebook over to me, helping her somewhat keep up with the notes while she was away. The teacher had ended the notes and had allowed us to have what they call "quiet time", but then I realized- why is Taylor taking so long? Not only did I write down all the notes for myself, but I managed to even copy them down into her notebook as well. As I was doing small doodles in my notebook next to the notes, Taylor finally walked back in. The teacher surprisingly didn't even confront her about her timing. I watched as she walked quickly back to her desk, she looked troubled but also ready to burst out in any second. Once she sat down next to me, she scooted even closer, my mind already knew how to react, leaning my head in to see what she had hidden behind her lips. "You won't believe who I saw. But not only did I catch sight of him, he was with those other boys he surrounds himself with." Taylor spoke with little pants trying to stay at a whisper. I felt my eyebrows rise, "The boy from this morning?" Her head nodded slowly as she raised her eyebrows as well with some unexpected smirk appearing on her face. "They were standing around the boys bathroom walkway, they didn't see me, but I could hear them speaking. I think your actions this morning caught their attention. He must have said something to them about it because they were talking about you, Jenny. I couldn't hear their exact sentences- but based off the details it was obviously you." Warmness grew inside my cheeks, there is no way I'm blushing right now over that. I tried to ignore it and made an interested, but questionable expression. "Why does it seem like everyone is talking about me?..." "What do you mean? I can understand them wanting to- but who else are you referring?" Taylor asked me, straightening her back as if she was ready to defend. I peeked over at the table that held the boy with those light brown eyes, I did a small head motion his direction. "I caught that boy staring at me, and of course he acted like I wasn't supposed to see him. Then he started whispering to that girl next to him. I mean it could be nothing, but I just thought it was odd." I explained while playing with my fingertips. She looked over at them and studied them for a moment.

The bell had rang wiping away our distractions, our main focus now was that it was finally lunch! Everyone slung themselves from their desks and crowded through the door like a stampede. Taylor and I kept ourselves next to each other as we walked towards the cafeteria, but then our one-on-one walk got disturbed by the fellow boy Kyle who Taylor had made friends with this morning. "Hii Jenny" He sung over at me as he bumped against Taylor. I gave a kind smile as I replied with a normal calm hello. "You two mind if I tag along through this amazing lunch?" We all released giggles and accepted him into our circle.

This enormous room gathered all kinds of people together. The best part about high school is that lunch time you can go wherever you want as long as your back for your classes. At least that's how most high schools are, I could be wrong for others- you never know what they do in other countries. You get to freely exit your class once that lunch bell rings and wonder off wherever you please. From sitting wherever you want with whoever you want, going outside, or even leaving school grounds for that matter. Luckily however, Kyle did manage to snag us a table. You may have options, meaning you would assume with these options available it would be more spacious in the cafeteria- nope. What else is really nice is that they even have vending machines, just outside the cafeteria there were a pair that held sodas and snacks inside them.
Did I mention Taylor and I had gotten stumbled over by Trey, Raina, and Josey? Our school crew! I call them our school crew because we all have stayed friends throughout the years which started the beginning of middle school. As we enter the cafeteria they were camping by the doors as if they knew exactly who they were looking for, which was us of course. We all agreed to sitting at the same table that Kyle had found us, and soon introduced him to the crew that he was now a part of.

I was walking back to the table with Taylor from choosing what we wanted to eat. Once I reached to the seat of the table I had claimed, a boy and a girl walked up to me. It was the light brown eyed boy and the girl he sat next to in our science class. They nervously looked down the table seeing everyone but then changed their expressions as they looked back at me. They both gave me these shy but kind smiles, "We were wondering if you would allow us to sit with you- well y'all?" the girl had spoken up. Taylor gave me an odd eye as she had remembered them from class and what I had told her, but with all thoughts aside I gave them a slow nod as I looked at everyone else to make sure no one disapproved. "Of course, we have plenty of room." I smiled at them as they happily chose their seats and everyone began going around the table once again, introducing themselves. The light brown eyed boy and the girls name were Timmothy and Madison. Curiosity started to build up once again, they seemed nice and innocent so whatever they were talking about in class couldn't have been bad right? I took a chance, started off easy to bring it to their attention as well. "Timmothy and Madison are in Mine and Taylors science class." I spoke directed towards everyone. Then I gave a smug as I leaned to the side a bit towards the twos direction, "Wish we met there so I didn't get awkwardly third wheeled by Taylor and Kyle" I teased, resulting in a bundle of 'oohs' and giggles along with a kick from Taylor beneath the table. Her face glowed a light pink as she laughed along, "I wanted to speak to you actually, but after you caught me looking at you, I got nervous-" Timmothy had confessed. "I heard about your encounter with that crew, or gang- whatever they are. I just call them the Black Jackets, I've actually called them that for a while now that even some others have caught onto using that as their name. Anyways, I was very curious and impressed is what I'm trying to say...not many of us get a good encounter with them and is why you may have seen Madison and I whispering about it. I certainly did not-..."

We all silently and respectfully listened to Timmothy open up and share his story with us. Then soon it was time for everyone who didn't know, to hear about what I did exactly that seems to be so surprising to everyone. The stories were out and the minds were filled. Now, everyone knows everything and honesty- I could use a good drink; not alcohol that's for sure. I leaned over and dug around into my bookbag to find myself a dollar bill, "I'm heading to the machine for a drink, I'll be right back." I stated to my friends as I removed myself from the table. Shyly smiling back at faces that turned my direction as I passed by, soon reaching the doors that led to the hall. It was quiet on this side of the door, empty too. Unfolding the dollar bill, I peeked around for the vending machines, holding the bill firmly as I found them and approached the one caging the soda bottles within. The screeching static of the machine swallowing the bill seemed to echo through the hall awkwardly. I scanned my fingertip along the buttons trying to decide which I was feeling. B3. Sounds perfect. I pressed the button and took a step back listening to the bottle fall- but didn't make it to the opened exit. 'You got to be kidding me...' I repeatedly pressed the button fighting the urge to fight the machine, I really didn't want to make all that noise out here. That was the only dollar I brought with me today...Sighing in defeat I turned away and began making my way back to the cafeteria. Before I reached out to open the door two loud thuds echoed down the hall. My attention got grabbed by the noise and I faced back to where I had just came from. My heart felt as if it stopped- my mind scanned over the stories that I was told, and the image of this morning flashed behind my eyes. 'Him.'

The boy who stood before me this morning has made an appearance. Although, he was alone this time. Was that him that made those sounds? My question was answered as I realized while I was stuck thinking, he was making his way towards me. He was staring straight at me the whole time, and of course my reaction is the same from before...standing completely still watching him step by step. Those eyes- were devouring me. I kept my face straight with a hint of curiosity; it's like time had slowed as he walked to me. Once the large body had finally reached me, he paused and gave a slight head tilt looking down at me. My eyes roamed up to meet his, then peeked down as I caught a movement below. Did he really just do that? How is this man the man from these stories? The questions ran on and on in my head as I continued peeking down at his hand that was raised up to me, holding the exact bottle of soda I had wanted from the machine that didn't want to come out for me. In his other hand was another twin bottle, he must have bought one and it released mine with it. Slowly lowering my head, a small smile began forcefully stretching along my lips, holding my hands out to gently accept the bottle into them. "T-Thank You-" I said with a slight gasp as his arm went right by me. He was opening the cafeteria door, but then the unexpected happened...he stood there as if he was waiting. I took some steps towards the doorway hesitantly peeking at him, then at the crowds of people within the room. After I was inside, he came in as well and watched me for a moment. His eyes stuck on me as he started walking off, until all I could see now was the back of his head. My fingers hugged around the bottle; my skin grew goosebumps. Then I looked over to see my table of friends looking dead at me with widened eyes. At that, my emotions released and could no longer be held back. Bright red warmness filled my cheeks, I glanced off to where he had disappeared to before heading towards my table. I know it's coming, all the questions once again and honestly- it makes me feel special...which made me wonder even more. This man, doesn't seem like the same one from these stories I hear...why haven't I witnessed anything bad? Am I the only one who gets this special treatment? As bad as it may sound- I actually hope I am. I wonder if we'll have another encounter, and how it will go next time.
