Chapter 1

Hey guys. Striker777 here with another update into The Rose Assassin. Be sure to like my story and tell me on what you would like to see in the future. I am open to constructive criticism, and I can really appreciate it when people take the time out of their day to teach me how to be a better writer.

Assassin's Creed is owned by Ubisoft and RWBY is owned by Rooster Teeth. I make no claims to either story or ideas. Please support their official releases. But anyway, on with the story.

Also, in this story I will be using the metric system of measuring, so if that happens to be a problem in the reading of this story, just convert the measurements in google to whatever you're comfortable reading.

———

It had been a week since Summer encountered her new apprentice, Connor, in the woods by himself, and she was enjoying every second of having a second pair of hands on her mission. She had to look after him, sure, but that was to be expected of a 7 year old boy in a forest filled with the creatures of Grimm.

But, he had his fair share of pros as well. He was an expert in finding quality firewood, even in the rain. He managed to squeeze in just about everything to get at food or other item that they may require in the following few days.  Connor was by no means a burden, and Summer was really looking forward to working with him.

But, she noticed that he seemed downcast at night, and was obviously upset about what happened to his village. Summer took on the supporting role of the duo, and she tried to be a mother figure to the young lad. He hadn't eaten a whole lot since he was found, apart from the bare minimum he needed to survive.

They had also begun his training, with Summer teaching him the beginning stages of free running and quick getaways. Summer had decided to teach him this first as he had no experience with combat and if he needed to run away for any reason, parkour would certainly help him. He had to start each day with a 2km run, and then a minute plank, to help increase his speed and stamina. When moving, the pair would run at his speed for 15 minutes before walking for the next 5, repeating the cycle to train themselves whilst not overtaxing their physical bodies.

Connor had proven himself to be quite the little runner, and was able to match Summer's running speed for a good 2 minutes before running out of stamina. By any hunter standpoint, this was quite the achievement. Summer was known far and wide as 'The Silver Typhoon', due to her unmatched speed and versatility in combat, as if she were a part of the wind itself. To think that a young boy, no older than 7 was able to match her speed (even if she held back, but don't tell Connor that).

Summer also taught him how to cook meats and make basic meals, for when he would have to take missions in the forest and be void of society for maybe weeks on end in order to keep up his future facade as a hunter. Summer was like a miracle on Earth for the poor boy, a shining ray of hope in his full life. She was his world at that time. She was his family.

———

It was during a dinner when Connor spoke again. "I never thought that this is what it would mean to have a mother." Summer looked at him oddly.
"Didn't you have a mother in the village?"
"No, unfortunately. According to the village chief, my father was a hunter by the alias of 'Snowy Cloak'. He would eventually come to my village, and fell in love with my mother, who was a 'protute' at the time. I think that's how it's pronounced, but I don't know. The elder just told me that my father left and was eventually killed in action, and my mother died on the streets giving birth to me. The church took me in, but I had to watch it crumple to the ground, with the priests still inside." Summer looked at the kid again, thinking to herself any more possible hardships this child endured. He pulled so many sob stories out of his ass, that he was a living cliche.
"Well, I hope you're alright with me being the mother figure."
"You kidding? You're amazing. I feel so safe around you and have a warm feeling in my chest. It feels like a fire that can't be extinguished." Summer felt her own fire form in her chest. This was a child who saw her as a mother.

She had the unfortunate pleasure to meet his father before. He was an assassin definitely, but a bad one. Never sober, even on a mission. He was a playboy who had one night stands with women all over Remnant. He was a huge asshole, and Summer was the one who found his body being mauled on by a band of Ursa. She had to be honest with herself when she felt a brief amount of satisfaction when she found the corpse.

"I remember that I always wanted a family, a mum, a dad, and siblings. I wanted to be able to wake up to the antics of a brother or sister and laugh with them as our parents laughed and watched us. I wanted a family for the majority of my life." Summer began to contemplate bringing him home, figuring she would have to go back at one point, and didn't know what she would do with him if she didn't bring him home.

"Well, I have 2 daughters and a loving husband back home, and I'm sure they wouldn't mind another face around the house." Connor looked up at Summer.
"Really?"
"Of course! We're headed there now actually. We'll catch a Bullhead to Patch and when we get home, you can meet your new family." Connor embraced Summer in a hug.
"Thanks, mum." Summer embraced the boy back and looked down at him.
"You are now a Rose. You are my son, and I love you." She held his hand as the two of them walked through the forest, to the next village with air transport.

———

"Do I look alright?" asked Connor as he and Summer stood outside the house in Patch. Connor was in his new robes that his uncle Roman and sister Neo dropped off for him. It was a simple white robe with a hood and a thick leather belt with a sword scarab that wasn't in use. He wore brown boots and black pants, and looked as nervous as a civilian in the middle of a Grimm horde.
"You look dashing. Now come on, I promise we won't hurt you."
"I trust you mum, I'm just worried I'll make a bad impression." Summer's heart skipped a beat as he called her mum again. He opened up to her quickly and was willing to call her his own mother.
"Just be yourself and you can't go wrong." Summer went up and knocked on the door. The heavy thud of footsteps was heard before a man with scraggy blonde hair and blue eyes. He had a tattoo running down his arm and wore a casual yellow shirt and brown pants.
"Hey Honey." He hugged her and Connor took a step back, a little intimidated by the man. He looked down at the boy and turned back to his wife. "Who's this?"
"Tai, this is Connor. He's my new apprentice. He's the sole survivor from the village that got attacked a few weeks ago." Tai nodded and walked over to the boy, who took another step back.
"It's alright. I'm Tai. It's nice to meet you Connor." Connor looked up at Summer, who was nodding and gesturing him to take Tai's hand. Connor took a deep breath, and shook his hand.
"A pleasure. I am Connor Rose, apprentice and son of Summer Rose." Tai looked back up at Summer, who responded with a smug grin and her signature puppy eyes. Tai sighed and turned back to Conner.
"Then I guess that make me your father. Yang is still at school for the next 2 hours, and Ruby is taking a nap. Let's have some lunch." At the mention of food, the stomachs of both Summer and Connor rumbled in approval. Connor looked down in embarrassment whilst Summer looked up at her husband and eyes him down. She could bake, sure, but Tai was the chef of the house. Connor was learning to cook, but Summer could only teach so much. Tai walked off to the kitchen and Connor followed, asking to help as he was a guest. Summer nodded to Tai, who nodded back and lead the young boy into the kitchen.

Summer exploited this opportunity to see her biological daughter, Ruby Rose, who was napping peacefully in her room. Summer smiled down at herself as she picked up her daughter. Ruby stirred in her sleep, but remained in blissful ignorance of being disturbed. Summer set Ruby back down and went down into the kitchen, to find Tai teaching Connor how to cut an onion and other vegetables.

Connor looked like he had quickly grown on Tai and vice versa, with the two laughing and joking as they prepared a grand feast of roast pork with cooked vegetables and potatoes. Summer smiled as she looked back at Connor, who looked like he was already a part of the family. Summer sat down at the table and waited patiently as both of her boys came out with plates of food.

Connor turned around to bring in some water he had prepared, to see a girl slightly younger than him comically floating down the stairs. The girl was a mini-Summer with red clothing. She was in a little gothic dress that was part red and part black. She was barefoot, as she hovered over the ground, as the aroma of the food guides her to the table. Connor watches her, before shrugging and collecting more water before heading back to the table.

Connor returned to the table to see the sleepy young girl being pampered by Tai and Summer. Connor walked up to the table and placed the water on the table. Ruby muttered a thanks, before turning sharply towards Connor and the remaining water, before clinging to her mother in fear. "Mummy, scary boy!" Connor looked down as Tai gripped his shoulders in a comforting manner.

Summer looked down at her daughter. "Ruby, this is Connor, he is your new brother so be nice to him." Ruby looked up and Connor smiled at her, but she buried her head right back into Summer's chest.
Connor looked down again as Tai smiled, "She is the shy one, unlike her sister Yang. Just give her some time to adjust and you'll get along great." Connor looked a little happier. "Now, how about we all enjoy a bit of lunch." Connor and Summer nodded enthusiastically, since the two of them hadn't had a proper meal all week.

The food was great. Tai was an amazing cook, and taught Connor a lot in the little while they had been in the kitchen. Summer certainly appreciated it, as she scoffed down the food faster than she moved on the battlefield. Ruby enjoyed her meal in silence, much to Connor's dismay. Tai and Summer tried to cheer him up with stories of Ruby and Yang's antics.

Time passed, and Tai set off to collect Yang from school. Summer put Ruby on the couch so she could watch TV, a cartoon on a hunter and his journey. Connor helped Summer clean the dishes, waiting eagerly for Tai to arrive with his other sister.

Yang burst through the door and into the kitchen, scaring Connor to death as he put the last of the plates away. Yang was curious about who he was and what he was doing in her home with her mother and sister, so she got all of her answers out of him like any girl her age would.

She put him in a chokehold.

Summer burst into the kitchen to pry them out of their grasp, and Yang was given time out as a result. Yang pestered her father over the stranger in the kitchen, but after Tai explained the situation, and realisation dawned on Yang, she felt terrible. She apologised profusely, even after Connor said that all was forgiven. She and Connor quickly bonded over the fight, and agreed to do an actual spar next time. It would be then that Yang discovered her love for the brawler style of combat. Connor and Yang got along as if they new each other for years.

Ruby was a little less scared of Connor when they were around Yang. Ruby began to open up and she discovered what a nice person Connor was. She was still young and had afternoon naps, and Connor watched Yang do her homework at the dining table.

Connor spent a week in the house before he and Summer returned to the woods to continue their secret training on the weekend. The plan was set in motion. Summer would take Connor out on the weekends for a camping trip in the woods and leave Tai with the girls. She would amp up the training on the weekends in order to keep Connor up to assassin standards. Every so often, Roman and his apprentice Neo would join them. Neo and Connor got on great, and he looked up to Roman as a cool uncle figure who knew how to have fun, but work at the same time.

Summer looked at Connor every night, blessing her lucky stars that she found that boy in the woods.
