Chapter 1: Oldie Oakley

-Tyler's POV-

The sound of my seven-thirty am alarm is like nails on a fucking chalkboard. "Shut the fuck up." I hit the snooze button at least three times until its seven-forty and I must get out of bed.

I unlock my iPhone, checking the E-mail that my soon-to-be roommate sent me the other day. I'm both excited and terrified to meet him. The incessant thoughts about what kind of person he is gives me goosebumps. For all I know, he could an axe murderer! or worse, homophobic. It was an online ad that he responded to last week, so it's a bit sketchy. I know, I know, I should've just asked a friend if they knew anyone who needs a roommate, but I'm an idiot who doesn't really hang out with people that often, so I set up an online ad.

He's gonna be at my apartment soon -eight-thirty to be exact- and I haven't even showered or ate breakfast yet. I let out a low groan as I sit up, my back pressing against the headboard. After a few minutes of relaxation I finally get out of bed, discarding my clothes on the floor as I make my way to the bathroom.

I took a quick shower, afterwards styling my bright, blue hair and brushing my teeth.
I make my way over to my moderately sized closet, sliding my shirt hangers across the rack until I find something cute to wear. I ended up wearing my navy blue and white, polka dot button up shirt, along with some dark wash skinny jeans that hug my booty in all the right places. My new roommate could very well be gay, you never know. Not that I'd date my roommate or anything like that.. Nope, that's so unlike me. Or is it?

I shake my head from side-to-side as I lace up my brown boots. It's surprisingly cold for winter in Los Angeles. You'd think that it'd be lukewarm in January, but nope, it's pretty damn cold outside. With a soft sigh I make my way into the kitchen, fixing myself up some scrambled eggs and a tall glass of orange juice.

The doorbell rang when I was nearly finished with my breakfast. I set my dirty dishes in the sink, taking a deep breath before answering the door. My eyes are met with the ocean blue ones of the boy in front of me. My new roommate. "It's good to finally meet you, Troye." I extended a hand, sighing softly when he shook it. He has such a nice, firm grip. I believe that a mans handshake reveals a lot about him as a person.

He smiled, pausing our handshake to look me in the eyes. "You too, Tyler." His cute voice resonated throughout my entire body like a beautiful symphony. A melody if you will. His accent is so unique, I've never heard anything like it before in my twenty-six years of being alive.

"If you don't mind me asking, I was wondering where you're from? It's just your accent, it's really unique. Unlike anything I've ever heard." I say, releasing his warm hand.

"Well, if you let me inside maybe we could talk some more." He chuckled cutely, baring his pearly white teeth. He's really cute when he smiles, too bad he's most likely straight and has a girlfriend. I opened the door wider, walking into the kitchen. "Would you like something to drink?" I ask politely, watching as he wheels his two large luggages and two backpacks through the front door.

"Some help and a water would be nice." His voice sounded slightly strained, likely due to lugging so much stuff around. "Sorry," I muttered, running over to grab a backpack and a luggage from him. He ended up leaving all of his stuff in the middle of my living room, so I did the same with the rest of it. I grabbed two water bottles, bringing them over to my tan colored couch. "I like your hair." He mumbled as I sat down a couple feet away from him.

"Oh, uh thanks." He's either blind and hasn't realized that I am very gay, or he isn't homophobic. It can't be the first one, so I guess he isn't a very judge mental guy.

He unscrewed the lid of his water bottle, taking a small sip before screwing the cap back on. He fiddled around with the plastic bottle, picking at the label with his blunt fingernails. "If you were wondering why my accent is so strange, it's because I was born in South Africa and moved to Australia when I was a toddler."

"Oh. I wouldn't call it strange. It's actually really.. cute- I mean cool." I laugh nervously, tucking a small strand of hair behind my ear. I look down, feeling my cheeks burn bright red. He probably thinks I'm some weirdo axe-murderer out to rape/kill him. Which I'm not. "Sorry, I just get kinda nervous around strangers.." I laugh again to try and lighten up the mood.

"It's okay, I get nervous too. We should really get to know each other, you know, since we'll be living together." He chuckled, glancing down at his lap. "Yeah.. Um, how old are you?" He hesitates before answering me. "Twenty-one. You?" Well, it's good to know that he's legal. If only he were gay.. or bisexual. I could work with that.

"I'm twenty-six. Yep, I know, I'm an oldie." Why do I have to go out and embarrass myself in front of him? "C'mon, twenty-six isn't that old. My oldest brother is twenty-five." Great, I'm older than his brother.. "Seeing as you're an adult, we should go out for drinks some time."

He nods, reaching into his pocket for his phone. "Yeah, totally. That sounds great. Can I get your number?.. You know, just in case I'm here and you aren't." I took his phone from his outstretched hand, adding my number to his contacts. I put my name as 'Oldie Oakley' "Heh, cute." He shook his head at the contact name I input.

A/N

Since I absolutely despised the way the first version of this was, I decided to make a re-write of it! Y'all begged me not to delete/edit the chapters on The Roommate (Troyler AU) so I'm writing this separate book! Things also moved way too fast in the original version, so I might have to change a few things around a bit, you know, less sexual thoughts about your new roommate that you met like twenty minutes ago.. That sort of thing.

Anyway, I'll explain a few more things. I completely stopped writing the original version back in January after I wrote 21 horrid chapters. (Also a month after I started it) it was my first fic ever, and I didn't exactly like the storyline (which was going nowhere) but hey, it got me into writing.
I never got back into writing it after that, no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't. Hence why I have so man other unfinished fics.. Anyway, I'll try my best to juggle In Tilly's Tummy, Sweater Weather, and The Roommate (Troyler AU) re-write. Pray for me..

Also, let me know what you guys think of this! I'm kinda excited/nervous to post it..

Bye|Rachel.
