Chapter 19: Boiling Nerves
After the astonishing match Julie followed Olive to McGonagall's office. Olive wasn't speaking, and she was incredibly grumpy about losing. Julie couldn't stop thinking about the Seeker. He had so graciously caught the Snitch. She debated whether she would go to the Forbidden Forest, and contemplated the consequences. Her heart fluttered at the thought of seeing him again, and she was so deep in thought she hadn't even noticed she and Olive had finally reached the office. McGonagall let them in after briefly expressing her grief about losing. She muttered something along the lines of wanting to do it herself so they would win again.
The detention itself was rather boring, and Julie couldn't think of anything but her Forbidden, well, crush. She then thought of how she'd hurt everyone's feelings. Olive, Lily, and especially Remus. He looked so tormented when he told her he couldn't find her at all. After the detention Olive - still not having said a word to Julie - marched back to the common room. There, she joined the boys. Julie looked at her feet as she passed them on their regular spot. She could feel them looking, but she didn't care for a moment.
She sat herself down at a desk across the common room, took out her Charms book and read it so intensely she couldn't focus on the words anymore. Suddenly someone cleared his throat. "Julie," Remus spoke, "can I talk to you for a minute?"
Julie didn't say anything, and Remus sat down across her. "I didn't get to see you at all last night. Where were you?"
-"Me? I might ask you the same question! Peter said you guys weren't at the feast at all, that he couldn't find you." Julie snapped out of her Charms book.
"We were there. I was looking for you right before midnight, I thought we'd have a dance." Remus said.
Julie looked at him. "Can I ask you something?" She wanted to ask about Regulus, but she decided she shouldn't, so right after Remus told her 'yes' she said, "Never mind."
Remus looked at her. "You can ask me anything, you know." She saw him look around. "Look, there's no one here, you can trust me." He moved his hand and placed it on hers.
"I- no, it was a stupid Charms question anyway. I'll ask Professor Wicksteed later." She pulled her hand away and got up. Remus looked at her but didn't follow her as she walked away. As she descended the stairs of Gryffindor tower she realised she shouldn't act strange to Remus, if she wanted to stay in contact with the boy from the ball, besides, Remus confused her. She'd been really annoyed that they didn't dance at the ball. She turned around and walked back. Remus was still sitting there, his head in his hands.
"Remus?" He looked up. "What's wrong?" He didn't answer, instead he got up.
-"Can we go for a walk?" He suggested, and Julie nodded.
As they walked through the castle on their way outside, Remus seemed okay again. He was talking about all kinds of things at the same time, and Julie felt really comfortable around him. They stopped near the greenhouses, and as Julie was talking about her classes at Beauxbatons, Remus took some Lemon Sherbet candies from his pocket.
After their walk Julie went to the library to read a bit when she saw Lucius Malfoy talking to his friends. He looked over to Julie, and his mouth curled up in a smile. He walked towards her and dropped a small envelope in front of her. Julie reached for it, and when she looked up again, the blond boy was gone. She read the letter and smiled. Her secret crush had realised she was in fact herself, so now it started with "Beautiful Julie". It said that he'd been mistaken and that he really wanted to see her, and that he wanted to explain why he had overreacted. At the bottom it asked her to place the letter in the book about Noble Wizards if she did want to come that night, and in the bin if she didn't. Julie walked towards the book and slowly slid the letter at the page of his family tree.

As the afternoon slowly dragged on to dinner Julie sat in the common room waiting, while attempting some homework. She was curious to what he would say to her, when James, Sirius, Peter, Remus and Olive came in. James was absolutely hyped and Julie asked why.
"I am going on a date with Miss Evans!" He exclaimed. Julie raised a brow.
-"She said yes? Wait a minute, did you give her the earrings?" James nodded.
"I'm taking her out in Hogsmeade. Isn't this day wonderful!" Julie let him ramble and continued on her homework.
Sirius looked at what she was doing. "Say Capesby Nr. 2, could I perhaps see that? I still have to write mine, but I don't really know what we have to do." He said, and Julie chuckled. She let him, but insisted he only do it once, and not to copy everything.
Olive looked at her. "What's up with you? You never let Padfoot copy your work. You never let me copy your work. Oh my, are you in love? Who is the lucky bastard? Was it from the ball?"
Julie shook her head. "No, leave me alone, I'm not in love." She said, but as soon as the words left her mouth she realised that she'd said it too casually, and Olive grinned.
"Who is it?" She wanted to know.
-"I'm not saying, Oli." She used the nickname to annoy her sister, but she didn't stop asking. As she moved her gaze to Remus she could see him looking at his hands.
"I think Remus is in love too, Oli." She said, changing the subject away from her. Remus gave her a deadly look, but didn't protest.
Sirius smirked. "Oh, I know what's going on. Remus and Julie like each other! How wonderful, C'mon boys, Olive-oil, let's go leave these lovebirds to do their thing." He said, and Olive punched him in the arm. They walked up to the boys' dormitory, and Peter and James followed. Before James was gone entirely, Julie spoke.
"Good luck with Lily, I hope you get her." She said, and James smiled.
"Me too, Capesby, me too."
After he'd left Remus and Julie sat there alone. "Remus, why were you acting so weird today?" Julie asked, and Remus shrugged.
-"Why were you?" He said. Julie bit her lip, debating with herself whether she should tell him or not. She decided to write a letter to her friend Eveline, to try and figure things out first. "I don't know, maybe it's a flu that's coming up." She tried to sound casual again, so Remus wouldn't suspect anything. He raised his brows and nodded slowly.
-"Yeah. Must be it." He said. Then he smiled, and suddenly he gave Julie a hug. "Listen," he said, while hugging her, "you are a wonderful girl and whatever is bothering you, don't let it get to you."
Julie didn't know what to say. She also didn't want Remus to let go, because she liked this hug. But then Remus let go and walked away quickly. Julie sat there for a moment, confused about what had just happened. She went up to the girls' dorm, and found some parchment and her quill and ink to write to Eveline.
Chou Chou Evi!
Salut! Je m'excuse, je n'ai pas eu beaucoup de temps pour écrire. But my my, you need to know what has happened to me. So I made friends with some guys - they're the copins of Olive - and one of them, Remus, is absolutely wonderful. He's smart, handsome, and really sweet. So I hoped that at this ball he'd dance with me and that'd he'd ask me out. But, he didn't. Before that time I went on a date with this sweet boy called Peter but I don't like him, he feels like a little frère, but I didn't want to hurt his feelings. Anyway so at that ball I danced with a talented dancer in a dark mask outside and he kissed me and we walked for a bit and I think I really like him, too! But now comes the part très difficile, because Remus knows something is up and he wants me to tell him... Please, I'm waiting for your response.
Bisous,
Juliette
As she signed her name Olive and Lily burst through the door. Julie jumped up. "Oh my, Lily! You said yes to James!"
-"I did, didn't I?" She said, as she flopped herself on her bed. Her red hair swooshed along, and as it got in her mouth she spluttered it out.
"But will you give him a chance? Will you try to like him? Do you even like him?" Julie asked curiously, and she sat down next to her.
-"I don't know..." Lily said, stretching the 'o'. "He was so sweet at the ball, and he was just so calm. If he's not with his friends, maybe he's actually so sweet. Olive, will you please please please make sure the boys won't ruin the date."
"Listen Lily, if they ruined it for Prongs, they'd all be murdered. He's liked you forever, Lily. He thinks you are everything!" Olive said, as she walked towards Julie's bed, where the letter lay. Julie quickly jumped up and picked it up so she couldn't read it. "What's up, sis?"
-"Nothing."
"Then why can't I read your letter? You never act like this. Is it a love letter? How did it go with Remus anyway?" Olive questioned, and Julie rolled her eyes.
-"There is no way he likes me-"
Lily interrupted her. "He does, Julie. He told me at the ball when I danced with him. He's head over heels for you." It was quiet for a moment, but then the clock chimed, dinner would be served in the Great Hall soon. Julie and her friends ran down the stairs, and Julie smiled a bit because she could see her Slytherin 'friend' afterwards.

Julie walked up to the dormitory as the sun outside had gone. She was going to do her hair for a bit and brush her teeth, and then she would go outside. She just had to wait for the other girls to be in the dorm, and for them not to notice her absence. As she waited while lying in her bed, Alice was still talking about Frank so she decided to make an excuse. She got up, and when the girls asked her where she was going she said she wanted to go to the lavatory, because she forgot her ring while washing her hands. The others all accepted it, even Olive.
Julie quietly tip-toed outside, careful not to run into any teachers. She reached the gates and slipped outside. As she reached the Forbidden Forest - wand still not on because she was too scared of being seen - she started smiling already. Then, she saw the boy. She walked up to him and greeted him. He motioned for her to sit down on a trunkbase. For a moment it was silent.

Hey there!
I am still alive guys! So I am on a holiday with my family, I'm in Russia right now, and it is awesome, although I do miss my boyfriend - yes that's still going on and has been for a year and a half today and yes he's the reason I haven't written a lot further but not because he doesn't want me to write fanfiction but bc I can't find the time together with school and writing my ACTUAL book.
Who is Juliette's Romeo?
Who will she pick?
Who do you want her to pick?
I don't know how often I will update and if I will continue a lot, but let me know if you guys are interested or have any ideas.
Also, anyone interested in my new book, Arthur: When A Tree Falls? Check it out on my profile! It is entirely original but some of you may find it slightly similar to ASP and the Cloak of Wisdom - it's not fanfiction though, it's Florence-fiction.
Love,
Florence <3
