3rd Place Grandwinner

"A Sprinkle of Stardust" by KaraCarreira

Genre: Fantasy

In a realm where nobody knows who to trust, the one constant in Lyrani Esch's life is her job as an agent for the Elven Council of Irylen Secret Intelligence (ECISI).

It's easy enough to ignore the rumours about the villainy of the elf king Nash. People call it 'The Curse of the Crown', but it's all hearsay.

At least until Lyrani is assigned a mission to confront it.

Her objectives are simple enough - get into Vlitavia Palace, gather intelligence on King Nash's operations, kill him and get out.

But assignments are never as easy as they sound, and the stars are against Lyrani from the start.

When her carefully laid plan goes awry, it leaves her floundering in a mission part truth and part lies. To make matters worse, a shadow lurks in the darkness, and she has her sights set on anyone who gets in her way.

Vlitavia Palace is layered with secrets, the most intriguing of which is a honey-eyed king at war with himself. Nash is a man with a soul of stardust and blood on his hands. Lyrani doesn't know which is the real King, and the mystery only draws her towards him.

The deeper Lyrani delves into Nash's present, the more she learns of her past. With her startling discoveries comes the realisation that she must free Nash from his vicious trap or forfeit the realm and both their lives in the name of the curse.

Because destinies entwined are never easily separated.

1st Place Grandwinner

"Never Kiss A Vampire" by Maraudin

Genre: Paranormal

Witches and vampires aren't supposed to fall in love, but Rami and Cora can't seem to stay away from each other.

Cora Kemp is the daughter of Salem's most infamous dark witch. At twenty-two, Cora is tired of competing for power with her aging aunts--until her mother tasks her with unlocking the secrets of an ancient family Grimoire.

Before she can set her plan in motion, Aunt Chastity hijacks the evening. The Kemp family has always been fond of making deals with demons, and Chastity presents Cora with an irresistible opportunity. Too bad the deal requires the help of a lusty demon and a vampire.

As the group travels beneath Boston city streets, Cora realizes her vampire companion is not what he seems. Vampires aren't supposed to be...kind. Or charming.

Before the night is over, the plot to unlock the grimoire goes awry and the carefully drawn lines between witches and vampires are blurred. In the end, Cora and Rami must decide to fight for each other or against each other.
