Chapter 41: Power

Alistair

We are all floored watching it.

This is certainly NOT what we thought it'd happen when we came to the library today. Books are tossed on the ground as the most faithful boy I know is kissing passionately a girl that is not his girlfriend.

Adults say teenagers shouldn't date before finding their mates. They say it's a waste of time and everybody's energy. Not to mention a recipe for heartbreak.

I'm not saying they're wrong. I have only been with one boy - my mate - and have absolutely no regrets. Yes, I kissed Tristan. But we're not talking about an innocent kiss here. That's not the concern adults have.

Not really. I'm sure by now even my mate's 14 year old sister has kissed someone. That's not the point I'm trying to make. Sex complicates things for (a lot of) people. I'm not gonna dwell on the complications for an omega, as it's well known.

But it's tricky to get involved romantically while unmated.

On the other hand, as soon as you start going through puberty your body starts flooding you with hormones that compel you to do exactly that: have sex. In all its various forms.

If I weren't an omega, I definitely would've had sex with Tristan, no doubt about it. I wouldn't even wait till we're 17/18, I would've done it long ago. I'm not ashamed to admit it, which is why I don't judge Lex for what he did with him.

I can only judge him for pursuing him when he was clearly still 'clung' to me.

On the other hand, as I just recently learned, if you don't want to ditch your partner for 'greener pastures', you simply have to let them know clearly and effectively. Like Chris did with my cousin yesterday. Nice and easy. Quick and politely.

After a few minutes to catch my breath, I whispered to my friends and mate:

"She is in heat. Take him away from here while I grab her, but don't touch her!" - I instructed, already walking towards them.

"Why are you taking so long–" - Lisa showed up at the library and was baffled by the scene. She screams, turning all the attention towards them, which is precisely what I wanted to avoid.

While I grabbed Lena and took her away from Chris, kicking and screaming, Ben took him away swiftly. Chris' eyes were glowing, so first Ben put on the sunglasses on him.

He looked as if he was drugged, eager to continue on what he was doing to my cousin. It wasn't until I was able to take her to the Principal that he finally came to his senses. Only to find a devastated looking Lisa crying copiously.

Fortunately, as a fellow omega, I'm immune to other people's heat. It doesn't affect me except by making me a little (extra) horny.

My uncle thanked me for delivering her safe and sound and immediately popped some medicine into her mouth. I guess they don't need Sarah's tea in the city.

Oh by the way, I forgot to tell y'all. My cousin is also an omega werewolf. Apparently, it's a recessive gene and though omegas rarely give birth to others, their offspring are highly susceptible to have omega children.

Funny enough, it wasn't a reason to make her father abandon her. But then again, neither did mine. I mean, not for this reason.

I returned to find Christian desperately asking Lisa for forgiveness on their way out.

"I'm sorry, Lisa! I don't know what came over me! Please forgive me, I didn't mean for this to happen, I swear!" - He was crying as she walked towards the parking lot in a rush. She's also crying.

"Why did you have to hug her? If you had stayed away from her this wouldn't have happened!" - She reprimanded him, fiercely mad.

"I didn't think an innocent hug would put me in any danger. I swear!" - He defended himself, desperately.

"I hate you, Christian Williams! You really had me convinced you were faithful!" - She snapped at him, pissed off.

"But I am! Honestly! I'm so sorry!" - He defended himself in a pleading tone that was simply heartbreaking.

Lisa got into her car and drove off. Evan was waiting for Tristan in the parking lot, so he got caught up in the drama. Meanwhile, we comforted him the best we could, but my mate had to go otherwise he'd be late for his training. So we did it inside the car.

"I'm so sorry, Chris. You don't deserve this." - I consoled him from the shotgun seat.

"I just can't believe this! I swear I didn't mean to kiss her! I swear!" - He protested, sobbing.

"We believe you, brother." - Elodie said, pitying him.

Chris remained inconsolable throughout the entire afternoon. At night, he told his parents what happened and they felt sorry for him. It wasn't anybody's fault.

During dinner, he was quiet as a mouse. I visited my father in the afternoon, but his health is yet to improve.

Needless to say, school was buzzing about what happened in the next morning. Even though the werewolves knew the truth, humans think Lisa caught him cheating on her with Lena.

For the first time, Chris is being hated on by the girls. Lisa is refusing to even look at him. My cousin is eerily quiet.

"Please forgive me, Lisa. I'm so sorry." - He begged her, heartbreakingly.

"Stop talking to me, please!" - She snapped at him in a short temper.

Chris sobs at her rejection. Honestly, I didn't think he had any tears left to cry at this point. Classes go by slowly with these two on opposite sides.

On the other end of the dating spectrum, Roger and Elodie are going strong as two people who only started dating. We even caught them kissing in between classes.

"I want to take you to the movies. Have you ever been?" - He asked her at the end of the third period.

"No, I haven't. I've been dying to go, to be honest." - She replied, giddy.

"Perfect! It's a date on Friday night. I'd take you Saturday, but I don't wanna miss Teddy's party. They're the best!" - He told her enthusiastically.

"Me neither. I was dying to go ever since Lisa showed up at the camp to take my brother." - She said, barely containing herself with enthusiasm.

"You're gonna love it! Wait until spring comes and he throws a pool party!" - He said, as enthusiastic as her.

Suddenly, Elodie grimaces and Roger doesn't understand why. She lowers her head.

"By spring, you'll be 'dating' another person." - She spoke in a low tone.

Roger gently raised her head to gaze upon him.

"You don't know that. I don't want to date anybody else. I want to date you." - He spoke reassuringly. She smiled at him and they kissed.

"I'm sorry for not asking you to come when I went to your camp last month. I guess I was so focused on getting your idiot brother that I didn't even consider you. I should have." - Lisa apologized to her, humbly.

"It's fine. You didn't know me back then, I get it." - She responded with a smile.

"I have never seen him so smitten like this!" - Ben commented in a low tone, perplexed.

"The Williams twins got the power." - Lex agreed, I think.

"The only power Chris wants is the one to make Lisa forgive him." - Ben argued. It's so bad Lisa didn't even acknowledge that remark.

After P. E., we had the unfortunate task of getting ready to shower inside the locker room. Though this is only my second week, I'm trying to power through my shyness.

"I'm sorry for my comments yesterday, Christian. I like to make inappropriate remarks but I never meant anything by it, I promise. I know you're straight. I'm not blind." - Lex apologized to him, bashfully.

Christian laughed for the first time in the last 24 hours.

"It's fine, Lex. I don't care anymore. I'm over it. Life lost its meaning for me." - He replied in a gloomy tone that had Lex without any reaction.

We took off our clothes, showered and got dressed for lunch. Lisa didn't want to eat with him, so she picked another table with her girls.

"Have you talked to Lena at all?" - I asked him as we began to eat.

"No and I don't plan to. Ever." - He glared at me.

"I'm sorry. You know she didn't do it on purpose, right?" - I said, trying to play devil's advocate.

"I know she's your cousin, so it's better if we don't talk about her. I don't wanna be discourteous towards your relative." - He spoke like the true gentleman he is.

"I get it." - I can't argue there.

"Are we invited to Teddy's party, mate? Or is it too weird for you?" - I changed the subject, catching Ben off guard.

"Yeah, we are. No, it isn't too weird for me. It could be too weird for him, but he was nice enough to invite us." - He replied, a bit uncomfortable.

"Great! It's a date." - I smiled at this.

It could be weird, but I never interacted with him enough for it to be weird for me. Plus, if I could get over Tristan and Lex together, anyone can get over anything.

In the afternoon, I went to visit Bruno again. This isn't something I can get over, though I really wish that I could.

His mate was there, like always. She welcomed me with a pleasant smile. She informed me that his condition is stable.

It seems that he's slowly recuperating, which is welcomed news. I wouldn't want him to take a turn for the worse.

She steps out for a minute while I keep him company.

"Hi, Bruno. It's me, Beto." - I greeted him.

I don't like that name but I'll make an exception for the convalescent.

"I'm sorry for yelling last time I was here. If that was what set you off, don't step into the light please. Come back to us." - I snickered.

After some uncomfortable topics of conversation, I was scared to touch his hand and have his heart stop again.

It's ridiculous, I know. I don't have that kind of power. But still... better safe than sorry.

"I really hope you recuperate well. Your family needs you, Bruno. And I need you." - I said, before I step out and Sarah drives me back to the pack house.

It's Friday morning. Lisa hasn't forgiven Chris - or talked to him, for that matter. But the mated couples are going stronger than ever.

Evan shows up for Tristan everyday and Judge Wilkins already set him up with the under Delta (second highest ranking warrior) to guide Tris to achieve a position as warrior for the pack. He couldn't be any happier as we are for him.

I'm thrilled with my mate by my side, who's been my rock throughout this whole business with Bruno and before. He's just there for me and I love him for it.

At school, Lena is quietly taking all the hate for breaking up Chris and Lisa at the same time that he doesn't even glance at her. He stopped acknowledging her existence, which is heartbreaking to me.

I know no self respecting omega wants a man by their side because of heat. And I'm positive that was the last thing on her mind that day. In fact, HE reached out to HER in the library.

"Hi, princess. Are you excited for our dates this weekend?" - Roger greeted Elodie, who smiled at him.

"I am very much. Just a little nervous for the party." - She replied, surprising him who frowned at the unexpected response.

"Why are you nervous for the party? Is it because you don't know what to wear? Wear whatever you want!" - He speculated, getting a nervous laugh out of her.

"No, that's not it." - She laughed it off.

"I know there are certain expectations for these kinds of parties and I–"

"Stop!" - He cut her off in a serious tone. She stared at him wide-eyed.

"I don't want you to think that's what this is about, it's not! You don't need to worry about sex. I don't care about that, I care about you!" - He surprised literally everyone with this.

"Don't feel pressured to do anything you don't wanna do. I just wanna lay back and hang out with my girl." - He spoke, grinning at her.

Elodie opened the widest smile I've ever seen so far (from her).

"Am I your girl?" - She asked, excitedly.

"Of course you are! You're the one that I want!" - He replied, charmingly. Then he kissed her and everyone swooned.

"Oh my goodness, Roger was body swapped by aliens!" - Ben joked, receiving a glare from both of them.

Lisa is sobbing all of the sudden and her girl friends comforted her.

"Are you... jealous of El?" - Chris asked her, unsure. By now, she probably knows they had a past. Both Elodie and Roger stare at Lisa wide-eyed at his question.

"No, you idiot! I'm not jealous of her! I don't feel anything for Roger. I just... it reminded me of why I fell in love with you in the first place. It was never about getting me to bed, it's about me as a person." - She explained, crying.

"Oh..." - He sighed. And it really was about that when they first met. He had no expectation of intimacy back then.

"It still is. I love you, Lisa. I'll beg, borrow or steal for you. There's no one else for me." - He reassured her, ever so humbly.

"Whatever." - Lisa mumbled, sobbing.

Everybody went... awn.

"Damn, these twins are no joke! I can't believe Roger said he didn't care about sex!" - Lex commented, next to my mate.

Naturally, both him and Elodie glanced at Lex. Roger blushed, which is rare for him.

"That's because you're a hoe! And it's all you care about!" - Ben joked. Lex glared daggers at him.

"It's not. I also want to be loved." - He refuted, annoyed.

The teacher entered the classroom but Lex fled immediately feeling sick to his stomach. He barely contained his puking from going off inside the classroom.

When he returned some time later, Ben was worried for him.

"Are you okay? You've been feeling sick since yesterday." - He asked, concerned.

"I think I have a stomach flu or something. I'll stop by the nurse's office later." - He replied, nonchalant.

"You never get sick." - Ben noted, suspiciously.

"Maybe he got pregnant from all the sex!" - Mena (human) joked, to which Ben, him, Evan and Tristan went... what?

A|N: GIRL POWER!

I gotta say even though I'd be wrapping up the novel right about now, I'm feeling so inspired lately that I'm not anywhere near ready to do it. So many people to mate, so many characters to mess with... I'm loving it!

I'm so inspired by y'all comments that I want to write and write. Elodie alone has a great journey that she was denied in the first half of the book. Also, I'm not done with Bruno (to say the least). So many songs to include yet...

Sorry, Lex. I do love you, boo.

Next is "Addicted to Love."

Love,

Léo.
