Episode 8: Raging Sands

(Aragonite's POV)
I stood on the tower made of sandstone. I breathed heavily. Why!? Why didn't they tell me about this!? I looked at the warp pad behind me. If anyone comes they won't last long!

(Meteorite's POV)
I ran into Aragonite's room. I didn't see her anywhere.
"Aragonite!" I called, "Aragonite!"
No answer. I looked around. Nothing. Where is she. Then I noticed Steven staring off toward one of the caves that led deeper into the temple. He turned to me.
"What just happened?" He asked me.
"I don't know," I asked him, "wait. What did happen."
"I saved Aragonite from a corrupt Gem that she was fighting," he said, "then I told her where I got my powers from and she freaked out."
"Why," I asked, "where did you get you powers from Steven?"
"From my mother Rose Quartz."
"Oh," I said, "now I see why"
Aragonite had always hated Rose for what she did. I admit I do too but I don't let it get to me. I heard running and Howlite came running in with a new Gem.
"Where is Aragonite?" He asked, "this is her room right."
I nodded.
"Then where is she!" Asked the other Gem harshly. I shrugged. Then I looked down. Sand...
"I know where she is!" I said. The others looked at me.
"She is in the desert!"
I ran to the warp pad and warped.

I opened my eyes to see nothing but pale yellow sand. Sand stretched out in all directions. Near the warp pad was a large sandstone tower. It took a few moments before the heat hit me. I started to sweat. Little beads ran down my face and dripped onto the sand beneath my feet as I walked. I stared at the tower. A figure was standing on top of it. I couldn't see who it was but I could tell. Aragonite! No one can mistake those cat ears.
"Thank god I found you." I said. There was no response.
"Aragonite?" I said again. She turned around. Something was glinting in the blazing light of the sun.
"Meteorite." She said. Her voice sounded hoarse and grainy, like she had been buried in the sand for a long time.
"You should have come here."
"I came to find you," I said looking into her eyes, "everyone is worried about you."
"Really? I thought that they would move on without me. Why would they care?"
"I do." I said.
"Rose never did."
Suddenly the glittering thing started to glow a pale yellow. The sand beneath my feet started to move around and then some leaped up and wrapped around my arm, holding me in place. I tried to pulled my arm toward me but the sand chains were too strong.
"Aragonite don't do this!" I yelled at Aragonite. I had a literal sinking feeling. I looked down and saw my feet disappear into the sand. I'm sinking into the sand!
"Aragonite help me!" I pleaded. Aragonite just stood there and looked at me. She held up the glowing thing for me too see. I gasped. It can't be!
It was. The desert gem. Aragonite had control over the sand, which was why I was sinking into the "quicksand." Aragonite was telling the sand to pull me down.
"Help! Aragonite please don't do this!" But she ignored me. She did one more gesture with her hand, then turned her back on me.
"NO!" I yelled. Then darkness took me.

(Sugilite's POV)
I saw the grey Gem run off toward the nearest warp pad. If Aragonite left without telling anyone then she just wants to be alone. I took a step forward to stop her but Howlite stopped me.
"No," he said, "Meteorite can handle this."
"You don't see it do you?" I snapped, "she just wants to be alone!"
I ran up to the warp pad.
"I have to go stop her!" I said. I stepped up but Howlite got on before me.
"Let me." He said. Without a reply he warped away. I sighed. I sat down and looked around. It took me a few moments to realise the room was empty.
"OH NO!" I said warping after them. The heat of the desert hit me instantly. I intended to stay no longer than I needed to. I just have to find them then I'm getting out of here. With them of course. I slowly trekked to the top of a sand dune to see a large clearing. Tall sandstone towers surrounded the area, but the one stood out from the rest. This tower had holes for windows and two low bridges, not far from the top, connecting the tower to the other towers either side of it. A dark orangey figure was standing on top of it doing weird hand gestures. I looked at the clearing below. I gasped as I saw the other Gems there. Pearl, Amethyst, Garnet, Steven and.....HOWLITE! I almost screamed but I forced myself to stay quiet and watch. I narrowed my eyes at the figure on the tower. It looked strangely familiar. I looked at the clearing again, and gasped. Everyone except the figure on the tower had disappeared.

(Meteorite's POV)
I opened my eyes to see a dimly lit room made entirely of sandstone. Beside me was a strange bed. I got up and went over to it. I ran my hands over the covers. They felt rough and sandy, not something I would want to sleep on. Not that I do sleep. There were no windows and what seemed like no ceiling. I looked up at the darkness. The ceiling must be there somewhere. I tried to find a way to escape this place but there was nothing. It frustrated me.
"This is hopeless!" I said to the darkness. My voice echoed off the walls and came back to me. I slammed my fist on the wall beside me. Sand particles fell from the ceiling above. I'm not in a room in the tower, I'm in a room under the sand! The ground shook beneath me. I looked up and someone fell onto the bed. I ran over him. I couldn't see him fully in the dim light but I already knew who he was. His star shirt gave it away.
"Steven?" I said.
