Episode 16: The Quest Part 1
(Tourmaline's POV)
I sat in the cave beside Amber waiting for Citrine and Aragonite. Amber was sorting her spells into order. It was funny that in a few minutes they would be a mess again. I watched Amber sort. Then I heard voices outside.
"I keep telling you I can't catch her alone!" That sounded like Citrine.
"Just ask her if you could talk in private." Replied an unfamiliar voice, probably Aragonite's.
"Oh. That actually doesn't sound hard."
Citrine and Aragonite entered the cave through the curtain of lichen I made. Citrine came up to me.
"Ummm. Tourmaline," she began, "I want to tell you something. Alone."
I looked around the cave. I spotted Amber and nodded
"Well then let's go." I said standing up. Citrine and I walked through the forest until we reached the cliff where Cat's Eye met Quartz. We sat down looking out into the sunset. Citrine took off her visors. For the first time I noticed Citrine's eyes had an icy glaze to them. I waved my hand in front of her face. I was surprised when she didn't react. Citrine chuckled.
"I can't see you." She said looking right at me. I was confused. Then I got it.
"Oh, oh." I said picking up her visors.
"Mmhmm," She said turning her head back to the horizon, "I've wanted to tell you this for so long, Tourmaline."
I edged in closer to her.
"You can tell me now." I say putting my hand on her shoulder. She smiled.
"I'm blind."
(Aragonite's POV)
I walk down the long tunnel of the mountain. There were lots of rooms carved out from the rock. I suddenly tripped on something. I step back and see a blue furry tail with black stripes. The end of the tail was a large fluff, like a comet.
"Ouch!" I heard someone say. I peek into the room, where the tail had disappeared. A beautiful cat stood there padding her tail. She had long straight horns and large feathered wings. She looked up at me. Her icy blue eyes somehow gave a cold chill. I turned around to walk away.
"Aragonite, Right?" She asked me. I froze. How did she know my name!? I thought.
"Big shock here, I can read minds." She replied smiling. I turned around. I heard footsteps running down the tunnel toward the room. Cat's Eye came running through the door.
"Quartz you ok? What happened?" She asked. She was looking at me suspiciously.
"Oh nothing, just a little thorn." She replied. Why is she lying. I thought
'Because I don't want Cat to hurt you.' I heard a voice in my head. I looked over at Quartz. She was looking at me gently.
"Come on Quartz, please no secrets." Cat said walking over to Quartz and patting her on the head. It was that moment that I realised that Cat and Quartz were the same height. Cat was only a little shorter than me.
My cat ears flew up just before Citrine ran into the room.
"Guys you've got to see this!" She blurted, before running back to the entrance. Quartz and Cat exchanged glances at each other before following Citrine. I decided to follow her too.
We exited the cave to find a ship right outside the entrance. A man and a small peculiar creature stood there. Both of them looked very shaken. Tourmaline walked up to the man.
"Are you ok? What's going on?" She asked. The man looked up into her eyes fear painted in them.
"We had a large farm, crops stretched out everywhere. We were happy there but not long ago a large creature moved in, destroying our crops and terrorising the small village nearby," He explained, "we heard you could help. We come from a place called The Lost World."
Tourmaline turned to Citrine.
"We have to help him." She said.
"What if this is a trap." Said Citrine.
"I'm sort of with Citrine on this one," said Cat joining them, "can we trust him? He looks suspiciously sketchy."
Tourmaline snorted a laugh.
"Does it look like we have a choice?" She asked.
"Yes," Said Cat, "we can just reject."
I decided to step in
"No." I said. The three Gems looked at me.
"What do you mean, no?" Asked Citrine.
"We can't reject someone who needs us," I say looking them straight in the eyes, "and if it's a trap, bring it on!"
I summoned my blades and walked toward the ship.
"Coming?" I asked the trio. Tourmaline nodded, Citrine nodded reluctantly and Cat rolled her eyes and jumped onto the ship. I saw a bit of grey dust fall from her but I ignored it. Tourmaline and Citrine sat side by side on the long bench at the side of the ship. The ship rose up from the ground and sped out of the atmosphere, into space. I watched as the stars sped by us, and soon, a green coloured planet with four moons came into view.
As we flew into it's atmosphere. I saw the ground of the planet as well as a few floating islands. We landed on one of the floating islands. I saw the problem right away. A large white-and-blue spiky raptor-like creature was prowling the long grass area near a small cliff. We landed in a clearing near a small wooden house. We exited the ship and walked down the dirt path, trying to find the peculiar creature.
(Cat's Eye Quartz's POV)
I crept beside my group, staying to the shadows. I saw Aragonite run ahead as if she knew where she was going. I teleported in front of her.
"Eeep!" I heard her squeak.
"Where are you going?" I asked her. She looked around and then leaned in closer to me.
"I saw the creature in this particular direction, while we were landing." She said pointing behind me.
"I couldn't see it." I said looking behind me.
"Come on its pretty hard to miss. Let's go." She walked off without hearing my reply. I shrugged and followed her.
She stopped in a small pond by a small cliff. I looked around but I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. Aragonite was looking around too.
"It should be here, I saw.....I saw it!" She whispered to herself. Then a glint of white to my right caught my eye and I looked over to see a large blue and white creature with long spikes on its neck emerge from the grass. Aragonite came up to me.
"This is it," she said as the others arrived behind me, "this is what we are here for."
