Chapter 2
Once he was gone, I quickly stripped myself of my soaked clothes. I wrung out my long white hair, and then turned to the wardrobe. Upon opening it, I was almost shocked to see everything organized and neatly hung. But that had always been Sebastian. He really hadn't changed at all. Being a butler suited him quite nicely.
I grabbed a random white button up shirt and threw it on. It was really long on me, because I was considerably shorter than Sebastian. But it was comfortable and smelled like him.
I sat on the bed, considering sneaking out the window. But I was sure Sebastian had me on lockdown. Why wasn't he okay with me hunting? If I got killed, it was my problem, not his.
But I understood his concern for my safety. Both my parents had gone out hunting and never returned. Everyone told me they were dead or had gotten caught. But either way, it meant the same thing. Sebastian didn't want me to end up the same way.
I lay back against the pillows with a heavy sigh. There was absolutely nothing to do while stuck in his room. All I could do was listen to the whistling of the wind outside, the rain beating down against the window. Sebastian must've been able to keep himself busy with work; there wasn't a single book or anything in there.
With nothing else to do, I closed my eyes, and let the pounding rain and roaring thunder lull me to sleep.

The rain had finally stopped. I sat up and glanced out the small window. The sky was clear and the sun was bright. It hurt my eyes.
I hopped up from the bed and stretched. It was a nice nap, I guess. I gave it that much.
As I glanced around the room, I noticed a black box by the door. I picked it up and sat it on the bed, remembering Sebastian telling me he would get me a new outfit.
Opening the box, I saw there was a simple black dress. It wasn't like my normal clothes, but it was the best he could do in a short amount of time. Besides, I wasn't going to complain; at least it wasn't pink.
I quickly changed, uncovering a brush in the bottom of the box. I quickly brushed my hair, then looked myself over as best I could without a mirror. It honestly didn't look that bad.
I then turned at the sound of the door opening. Sebastian walked in, closing the door behind him.
"I see you found the dress."
I nodded. "Thank you. It's a perfect fit."
"Of course it is. I used to get you clothes all the time."
I nodded again. "It's been lonely without you, you know. No one else really pays any attention to me." Then I added hastily, "Not that I mind, of course. Everyone else would just be telling me to stop hunting, like you do."
"I apologize, Luna. I hadn't meant to be away from you for so long."
"And you wonder why I hate contracts."
His expression saddened. "It is because you are separated from others for long periods of time?"
I almost nodded, then quickly shook my head. I had to deny it. I couldn't let him know all of my weaknesses, even if we had known each other since I was small. "I'm just fine being by myself, you know. It's not like I can't stand it. I just... miss having you there whenever I needed you." What was I saying? Why was I telling him everything? Pull yourself together, Luna. You aren't a child anymore.
"Well, I am here now. Is there anything you need to tell me?"
I felt my eyes begin to water. I glanced away from him. I couldn't cry in front of him. I had to prove that I'd grown up, that I could handle myself. "No," I finally said, hoping my voice wasn't wavering like I thought.
Sebastian only nodded. I knew he didn't believe me. He glanced away. "I have things I must take care of. Please refrain from going too far away from this room. My master knows you are here, but if he saw you, we would all have a problem." His red eyes shone bright for a moment, and I instantly knew what he meant.
I nodded. "I'll try to stick to this corridor, if that's alright." Why wasn't I just asking to leave the manor? The people from last night had surely given up by now.
"That is fine. But, Luna, I feel you should also know those men from last night stopped by this morning asking about you."
My jaw dropped. I guess I had thought too soon. "After all night? Why hadn't they given up?"
"I do not know. But my guess is they have had it with your hunting. And, frankly, so have I."
I quickly composed myself. "Well, I'm sorry, Sebastian. But I'm not a child anymore. I'll do what I want."
"You are 16, Luna."
"And?"
"So you're perfectly fine with them finding and killing you?"
"Relax. They can't catch me."
"Really? Because I believe what happened last night proves otherwise."
I sighed. I wasn't going to win this one. "Well? What did they say?"
"That they will be on the lookout for you. That they will search all of England to finally end you."
I sat on the bed and held my head in my hands. "So, you aren't going to let me leave, are you?"
"I apologize. But I cannot let them hurt you. Not again."
"I can't just hide out at this manor forever, Sebastian! What am I supposed to do with my life?"
"If you want to leave, make a contract with someone. It will be enough to prove you can follow the rules." And with that, he left the room.
