Chapter Three

Jack

Out of all the times I got myself stuck in sticky situations, this had to be the worst one. Especially considering my father was right here. We were sitting in the car as he drove. Thoughts circled my head as I thought back to earlier when Mark said my eyes had changed color. My stomach was in knots. I worried that maybe there was something wrong with me. Of course, I couldn't say much of anything since it was nothing but silence.

Unlike most people who weren't bothered by the number of times people remained silent, here I was... annoyed with it. I wanted someone to speak up and say something but how could I? not while he was right here ignoring me. We rode the rest of the way until eventually we finally came back to the house. Jensen parked the car in the driveway then Mark and I got out. We walked over to the front door as Jensen unlocked it.

"Now, sit down on that couch I would like an explanation," Jensen ordered.

Without hesitating, I sat down and waited for the lecture to come. But when none came, I wondered what else he was planning on saying.

"Jack what you did was beyond stupid, and you could have gotten into trouble," Jensen said. "And Mark, I still don't trust you, especially since you nearly brought my son out and into harm's way,"

"Harms way?!" Mark exclaimed. "Sir, he's human, he's not like one of those weapons, he doesn't deserve to be locked away!"

I stayed silent as Jensen looked between the two of us. My stomach was in knots, and I didn't know how I was going to explain to him why I went out. Jensen touched the bridge of his nose. His hands clenched. I flinched at the sight.

"Why are you treating me like I'm some sort of robot?" I questioned. "Ever since we've lived together, it seemed like you weren't treating me like a son, more like some sort of weapon."

"That is not true," Jensen responded.

"Not true?" Jack laughed. "Really? Then explain to me why I can't go out?"

Jensen glanced at me. His expression hardened.

Mark and I waited for him to say something but when he did not, I got up from the couch and stormed up to my room. Behind me Mark and Jensen were calling after, but I had no intention on talking to them. Not until I knew what was going on. My thoughts constantly circled throughout my mind as I wanted answers. If my eyes changed color, then I needed to know. What if there was truly something wrong with me?

I walked into my room and laid down on my bed. For a while I stared up at the ceiling unsure of what else I should do. My eyes closed and I started to fall asleep.

I found myself strapped to a table. A bright light shone over my face and into my eyes. I wanted to leave. Wanted to move but nothing seemed to be working. None of my limbs would comply. I glanced over and saw an older man probably in his thirties wearing a white lab coat was standing over me.

"Don't worry, Sean," the man says. "Everything will be fine, and you won't feel a thing,"

A large needle came down onto him.

I bolted awake in a cold sweat. The world I saw disappeared the minute I opened my eyes. Thoughts circled my brain as I thought back to what I had seen. The men in lab coats were experimenting on me and they were using a large needle to do it. Tears brimmed the corners of my eyes as I had no idea what I witnessed. My holographic watch, which had been sitting on my side table started beeping. My stomach dropped.

I pushed myself from the bed and walked over to it. Taking it from the charger, I pressed the button on the side and a holographic image appeared in front of me. It was of a man, the same man I had seen in my dreams. My eyes seemed to match with the man in the hologram.

"Who the hell are you?" I asked.

"It's hard for me to explain kid," the man responded. "But if you want to know the truth, I'd recommend asking your supposed father about this. He stole you from us,"

I paused. My father? Stole me from these people. I didn't even know if I trusted him. The hologram disappeared just as Jensen knocked on my door.

*~*~*

Mark

Jack stormed off on them. Sure, Mark didn't think much about it, but the way he left made him think back to what he saw. There was something off about Jack and he wasn't sure if even Jack knew what was wrong with himself. Thoughts circled his mind. Unsure of what he could even think about.

"I'll leave you and Jack alone," Mark said. "My parents are expecting me back home,"

Jensen nodded. Mark got up from the couch and walked out of the house leaving them alone. Still, Mark wished that there was a way for him to help his friend. Mark made his way back to his house. Unlike Jack and Jensen's house, his was bigger. Built with both wooden and bricks. Glass windowpanes were stacked on top of each other with trees that make the landscape ever so pretty.

Mark's family was a different kind of family. They were rich but they were also very dedicated in what they did. Of course, most of the time he always came home to an empty house. His parents were always out doing who knows what. So, he wasn't going to be surprised if he walked into the house only to see that his parents weren't there.

Most of the time that was one of the reasons why he always stayed away from the house. After a while of living alone, there would usually be no body around so there was no point in staying. But this time, he was planning to stay. Mark entered through the wooden door. The living room was large with a corner couch and a wooden couch decorated with colorful pillows. Nearest the door, he had a large painting with black and white on it. The windows stood outside overlooking California.

Mark shrugged off his coat and placed it on the chair.

"Hard day sir?" a voice said.

Mark jumped and turned to find Wade standing there in his butler uniform.

"Wade? How many times do I have to tell you?" Mark stated. "You don't have to call me sir, just call me by my name,"

"Alright, Mark, sir?" Wade said. "Did you have a hard day?"

Mark placed himself on the couch and groaned knowing that there was no way he could get his butler to say something else.

"You tell me, I swear something was wrong with Jack's eyes," Mark explained. "They went from blue to bright green, that's really unusual for someone's eyes to change into two different colors, right?"

Wade hesitated. Mark sat up and stared at him.

"Well, that brings me to my next point, you should go talk to your parents," Wade suggested.

"What? Why?" Mark questioned. "You're telling me that they're actually here?"

"Yes sir," Wade said. "They're downstairs,"

Jumping to his feet, Mark walked downstairs toward the basement.

He got to the bottom of the stairs; however, he didn't see either of his parents. Confused, Mark started looking around until his eyes landed on a door that was open. Cautiously, Mark walked over to it thinking that it was only leading outside. But the minute he grabbed the door handle cool to the touch was the same time that he pulled it open and discovered a large room with people he didn't even know. In the center of the room sat a large table with a map spread on top. His parents were sitting in the center discussing something.

"Mom? Dad?" Mark said astonished.
