Day 5/Part 1
I was not allowed a second day off that Friday. I grumbled while getting dressed. At least that day my father offered to drop me off so I wouldn't have to walk.
My dad slotted in a parking by school. I reached over and kissed him goodbye, climbing out. I waved as he pulled out, heading to work.
Shana and Cass were deep in conversation by my locker. "Morning guys."
Shana smirked. She looked stunning in a wholly sweater that hugged her frame and jeans that accentuated her legs. Her hair was neatly done up and a few stray curls fell in her face.
"So they let you out of prison?" She joked. I shoved her playfully.
"Ha ha ha, hilarious." I deadpan before laughing. "Anything I need to know of?"
"Well," Shana paused. She looked at Cass who nodded. ", you are internet famous."
"What?" I wheeled on her.
"Yeah, someone posted the video of what happened at the pharmacist and, well, it's trending. I think people from other schools are starting to notice Harry." She explained.
Great. The last thing I needed was people from other schools started showing up here looking for the infamous Malakai. It was probably the last thing he needed too.
"Forget about that!" Cass belted, ripping me out of my reverie. "We've got the trip to the beach this weekend, remember? Let's focus on that."
Oh. "About that..." I closed my locker and explained Harry's request for time in exchange for the assurance that he wasn't self harming.
"Okay..." Cass furrowed her brows. "We don't need him to go to the beach but how do you suppose you get your info from Jace when the intervention isn't happening?"
I had completely forgotten about my quest for underground knowledge and the tradeoff I made. I needed to know about the gangs so I could piece together what happened. He may have asked for time but I wasn't about to let him drown in his own darkness.
"I'll talk to him." I answered. I looked at Cass. "We'll talk. Maybe there's something that I can give him besides the intervention."
Cass opened her mouth but before she could say anything, Bran yelled a greeting. I turned to see him, London and a girl walking toward our little group.
I will admit I get slightly annoyed when seeing Bran. His appearance just reminds me how majority of the male gender were taller compared to us females. Though not true everywhere, in our group it was.
Bran towered at 6' feet. Next came Shana, London, yours truly and Cass starting from 5'9 feet and lower. I was able tolerate it until Harry. Before, he would come and stand right next to me and his giant 6'2 foot length would make me feel dwarfed.
I was hoping that it would happen one of those days. I was beginning to miss these small moments.
"Hey guys." Bran greeted again, wrapping an arm around my shoulder. "We've got a tag along."
"A tag along?" Cass and Shana simultaneously asked.
London threw a arm around the girls shoulders and brought her closer. "This is Alice. She's a new student and yours truly has been nominated to show her around and orientate her."
Oh no, Houston we have a problem. Call 911 or whoever. This girl was a goddess. She was my height; fair, tanned skin, high cheek bones, full eyebrows, full diamond pink lips with long, wavy chestnut hair that cascaded down her back. If that didn't seal the deal, she had deep set rich ebony eyes.
She shyly looked at each one of us through her lashes. I began to wonder how the testosterone levels would respond to Alice. She seemed shy in that moment but I wondered if she was naturally like this even when she found her own group.
But nonetheless, she couldn't have been more lucky to end up with our group. A group that didn't function on merit, popularity or skill.
"Hey." She whispered, a small smile gracing her lips. We smiled and greeted.
The group broke into conversation, about where'd Alice come from and etc, but I zoned out. Instead my focus shifted to a boy down the hallway, silently taking out his books. West stood next to him and watched.
Suddenly, a middle aged woman appeared through the schools entrance. She looked confused as if she didn't know where to go. The only two people near her was West and Harry.
I silently excused myself and walked towards them. The woman turned to them as well.
I could vaguely hear her ask. "Do you know where I could find Harry Malakai?"
