Day 4/Part 2
Cass took her time making her way here. Meanwhile, I whipped up a quick lunch for me and me alone.
Cass walked in past two, half the day gone. I groaned as banging filled thr house.
"You took your sweet time." Once I let her in.
"Well not all of us had a free day today." She mumbled. She was dressed as the badgirl she was in her leather jacket and red shirt. "So the good girl Annabeth found herself in jail?"
Of course she heard. "How'd you find out? A rumor or some video on Instagram?"
"Better. Besides video, someone was actually there to witness it. What I want to know is how come you didn't tell one us?" She peered at me, imploring.
I hadn't called anyone. Talking about a trip to the local precinct in the wrong side of a cop car. Between that and what I had learned, I wasn't really into spreading my experience.
"I didn't want to talk about it. I still don't want to...the part about the police, I mean." She nodded. She knew when not to pry. "So what's up?"
"I found out that some people connected to the gang had died on Saturday." I paused as her eyes widened. "I thought that maybe with that small information I could really create a picture of what happened but no such luck. So that's why you're here."
She sat back and stretched out as if at home. "Well, I don't know. I'm not one of those kids who know how to get things... That being said there's a guy at school. Real depressed, real rebel. He also incidentally wants to be apart of our intervention group."
"Say what?!"
She holds up our hands. "I didn't tell him I swear! His just... He feels that with what his been through he can understand what Harry is going through. I didn't say anything but I promised I'd ask."
"Who is this person?" I ask, out of pure curiosity.
"Jace."
Jace? "Like the shadowhunter?"
She took a moment to think about it then she nodded.
Of course. Annabeth Chase, Harry Potter and Jace Wayland. Who is next?
"In all honesty, I don't even think this intervention is gonna work. Who goes to a beach after being released?" I muttered. I was looking for a way out. The more the days passed, the more I was looking for an escape route.
"True." She admitted. "I guess we'll see what happens when he comes back to school, whenever that is. It should actually be short since he came back to school after what? A day?"
Yeah, he did, I admit silently to myself. I throw myself and lounge. The last week might as well have been a month. So much has happened.
"I'll call Jace and get what you need." Cass spoke.
Jace.
Another thing I had to wrap my head around that day. Jace wasn't the type to found dealing and reaping. He was just another teenager that would drink and would smoke. Only thing that made him stand out was his depression.
Was Harry depressed? Silent, yes. Angry, yes. However, that was all. Shutting out the world was a rational move to ensure his survival. My earlier observation of his long-sleeved t-shirts comes into view.
"I think I need coffee..." I mumble to myself, rubbing my head.
