Day 3/Part 3
Yelling, screaming and alarms blared.
Literal chaos. I stood in awe as Harry grabbed the pharmacist, hauled him over the counter and threw him. The middle-aged woman standing behind us, screamed and jumped out of the pharmacist collision course. People, who up till that point had been peacefully shopping, stared or rushed to the aid of the pharmacist. Some employee must have pressed a panic button because lights were flashing and alarms were blaring.
Harry advanced towards the pharmacist, who had landed and was groaning.
It was safe to say I've seen my fair share of Harry, including angry Harry. The occasional jealous boyfriend fights had left a Harry that needed reassuring and emotional support. I had seen the anger back then and the anger I saw that day was another level. If the haze from the red light weren't there, I'm sure he would've been glowing.
The pharmacist tried getting up but Harry was already atop of him, hauling him by his shirt. The man trembled in his grasp as he brought him face to face.
"I want the bloody medicine, you decrepit old man before I toss you all around this store!" He yelled and I have to give the pharmacist credit for not losing his nerve right there and then.
"I-i am not giving you anything, you addict!" He whimpered. It was defiant though not the most courageous output.
"Harry, maybe we should just put the man down, wait for the police to get here and straighten this up." I suggested. I knew not to go closer and try and touch him. Most likely, I would get hurt in the process and stepping up to Harry was a last resort.
For a moment, everything came to a standstill. No one in the store moved, neither eager to help or turn away from the action. No further words were exchanged nor movement from the two men.
A new sound wailed in the store. Everybody's heads whipped to the entrance. I had assumed it was the police but two greee-uniformed men rushed in, walkie talkies pinned and tasers holstered.
"Sir, put the pharmacist down right now!" The first security guard ordered. "Do it or we'll use lethal force to remove you from the premises."
"I want the medicine..." It was barely audible over the screeching alarms but Harry answered.
"Sir!" The second guard pulled out his taser and aimed it. I was panicking now. "Put the man down or I will tase you!"
Harry didn't. The guard's patience ran thin and he fired. Harry did the next best thing, he threw the pharmacist again. This time at the guards and into the taser.
