Hailey stared up at me with her arms crossed, one of her eyes almost swollen shut and red. It looked irritated. Way too irritated to have her walking around like nothing was wrong.

"Hailey," I began, "your-"

"Don't even bring it up." She said, holding up a hand to stop me. "I know, it's horrible. A nurse was going to fix me, but I had to talk to you. About...what happened."

Alex tensed at my side and I sucked in a breath.

"Dorian Grey he...he said something to us...about-"

"Listen, Hailey, I don't think that Circe is ready to-" Alex was abruptly cut off by Hailey glaring at him.

"No you listen Alex. I know that Circe is your girlfriend and all that, but this isn't just about you two. If you want it to be, then fine! The door is that way. You both can run off and sneak away into night and see how long it takes for you to get your asses killed. But if you're willing to suck it up, and put Eros's needs before your own, you'll shut the hell up and let me speak."

They stared at each other for a minute, both of their eyes narrowed in anger as they engaged in a mental battle of wills. Finally, and reluctantly, Alex scoffed and rolled his eyes, crossing his arms.

Hailey's glare never wavered as she spoke to me. "I believe we need to speak some where a bit more private, Circe. Your bodyguards are making this a lot more difficult than it has to be."

Alex growled at her and her gaze hardened. Evanora, seeing the obvious tension brewing between the two, grabbed Alex's and Victor's arms. "We're going to go around and help the other kids. You know, see if there's anything we can do to lend a hand."

Before the boys had time to protest, Evanora dragged them behind her and they disappeared into the thick of the crowd.

Hailey rolled her eyes before speaking up. "Come on." She said, making her way through the mass of bodies and towards the door.

"Wait, can't you just tell me right now? I'm not distracted or anything, and I think that you might need help with your-"

"I think," She began, cutting me off, "That it would be easier to show you than to tell you."

"...Show me?"

Hailey sighed through her nose and massaged her nose bridge as I walked down the hall alongside her. "Yes, Circe. Show you. You are aware that we have Mentikenetics around here, aren't you?"

I nodded. Mind readers. Of course they do. They practically have almost every singly type of Elementalists there is in here.

"The one we're going to see is Tasha. She's a friend of my mother."

I opened my mouth to ask why we couldn't get her to come to us, but Hailey was already off, head held high and eyes trained straight ahead.

With a sigh I followed behind, making sure to not walk too close.
