Prologue
I stood on a snow covered rock, in the middle of the camp. It was snowing heavily, and I was sure a blizzard was on the way. The mountains always got blizzards early in the year, especially since our clan was located further in the north, and higher up in the mountains. I thought about how this had happened. It had been a long, and hard journey putting together this clan, but I was sure that it was the right decision.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My name was Silverwillow. I lived as a loner all my life, until I found them. The clans I mean. I was travelling through the forest, when I was attacked by a cat.
"Who, are you, and why are you on our territory?!" snarled a gray tom.
"I was just traveling through!" I gasped, scared.
Almost immediately, he noticed my wings. I was a rare form of cat, an felian. That stood for bird cat basically. Somehow, when I was developed, I grew wings. This was a rare occurrence, but it happened sometimes. I knew that my race would grow, however, because the offspring of a felian was a felian, unless one of the parents was a normal cat. Then, they could have a felian or a cat.
"Why do you have wings?" He asked suspiciously.
"Because I do," I say calmly, not wanting to start a fight.
Dragging me, he grunted,"Well, I'm taking you back to camp with me!"
"OK, OK! I can walk or fly you know!" I said, knowing that there really wasn't reason to fight.
The tom let me walk back to camp with him, but still he kept a close eye on me.
We entered the camp, and went to a shallow tunnel in a rock cliff.
"Bramblestar, I request clearance to enter. I have an interesting catch of the day,"the gray tom says.
"Yes, come in," a young tom's voice answers.
The gray tom pushes me in, then walks in himself. "Found this in the woods on our territory," he growls.
When my eyes adjust to the dark, I see a brown tabby tom, and an orange she-cat. I guessed the she-cat was the tom's mate by the looks of it.
"Why were you-" the tabby tom begins,"Wings?!"
"Yep, I have wings,"I shrug.
"But how?" he says.
"I'm a felian," I say carelessly.
Still, the tabby tom carries a confused look on his face."You're a what?"
Now, I was just rambling off whatever I told someone what I was."I am a felian. It's like a bird cat. The feline is the cat, and the avian is the bird. I was developed, and born with wings, and am able to fly."
Now, a grim, no, it was kind of angry, kind of defensive, and kind of wondering and/or confused look was on his face. "I am Bramblestar, leader of ThunderClan! Why have you come here?!" He kind of snarled.
He called out for some cat named Jayfeather. "I," I speak nervously. Apparently, this "Bramblestar" had power,"am a traveler! I was passing through this land, not even knowing it was yours."
"Didn't you smell the scent marks?" Bramblestar asked sternly.
Guiltily, I answered,"Yes, I did, but I thought it was just some other rogue cat marking their "territory", as they think it is."
I began to feel quite defensive. How dare Bramblestar yell at me like that, when, I had nothing to hide. Infact, he had found out my biggest secret, (Not like it really was a secret in the first place anyway...) THAT I HAVE FREAKIN WINGS! All there was to know about me was that my name was Silverwillow, but it's not like that was any big thing, right?
Suddenly, an even younger tom voice spoke. "Bramblestar, I heard you wanted me. What would you like?" A youngish light gray tabby tom walked in. He had faded light blue eyes. It didn't take me a long time to figure out he must have been blind, although, he had no trouble finding where to sit, he almost sat on me!
"Sorry," He mumbled.
"Aww, yes, Jayfeather. Have you heard from StarClan lately?" Bramblestar asked.
"Umm, no. Am I supposed to have gotten an important message or something? And, what did I just almost sit on? I thought I felt wings!"
"He's blind," Bramblestar says apologetically.
Jayfeather's face suddenly turns frustrated. "I think people can tell for themselves! I mean, yes, I'm blind, but it's not like EVERYONE needs to know!"
"He's always touchy on that subject, and you should know that Bramblestar," the orange she-cat with green eyes speaks up.
"I know, Squirrelflight," Bramblestar replies.
"So, is that all I'm needed for?" Jayfeather asks, obviously wanting to leave, "I still have cats to heal, you know, with the whole, Dark-Forest-Cats-Coming-To-Take-Over thing, and all. It was only a few days ago that it ended, and Holly-" he appears to not be able to choke out the last of what he was going to say. Silent tears start to form in his blind eyes.
"Yes, and it's going to be OK Jayfeather. You almost sat on a "felian", apparently a cat with wings, don't ask me what I am talking about, or how that's possible, but she was on the territory, so I was wondering if you had gotten a message from StarClan. Now that I see you haven't, you can go," Bramblestar says.
Jayfeather then leaves, and it is again just Bramblestar, Squirrelflight, and that gray tom.
"OK, so now we know that you didn't pay attention to the markers, and that you are a felian, so, what do you call yourself?" Bramblestar asks, clearly bored.
"My name is Silverwillow," I say.
Surprised, Bramblestar says,"Wait, are you from SkyClan?! No one who is not a Clan cat has a name like that!"
Confused, I say, "What's SkyClan?"
Bramblestar, Squirrelflight, and that gray tom who I still don't know the name of look at each other with a look, I can't even explain.
"I like willow trees, and I have silver fur, and feathers. I don't know what you are talking about, but I know that I am not a "Clan cat", whatever that means."
"I think you may be important," Bramblestar states. "Would you like to stay here in the clans for a little longer?"
"Yes!" I reply happily."I mean, I have no other place to go, and it's getting late, so, yes, I would like to stay for a little longer."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't stay for too long, but I stay long enough to learn the clan's ways. I don't feel accepted all the time, but it's clear at least Bramblestar doesn't hate me. He lets me even go to their Gatherings at the full moon. It's basically a meeting with 3 other clans that live with ThunderClan around the lake. I loved the clan's ways, and was ready to even ask Bramblestar if I could join permanently. Jayfeather, though, one day came to me, and Bramblestar with news.
"StarClan has spoken to me," He says uneasily."Although it's cool that Silverwillow has came here, she has to leave."
Surprised, I reply. "What! Why! I'm good, right? Why would StarClan not want me to-"
"They want you to form a new clan," Jayfeather interrupts. "They believe that you should be a leader, but you do not belong here in the clans. You have wings. You are special, Silverwillow, and they trust you to do this. They chose, you, not Mistystar, not Blackstar, not Onestar, not even Bramblestar! I know this may be a hard task, but they have told me that they will guide you. Listen, and you will hear StarClan helping you. I know they will be there."
It was a lot to take in. I didn't understand how I was supposed to do it.
"OK," I say.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I soon left, my stomach full, with herbs in me that would help me to have the endurance to do this task. The day I left was the day I really understood that just about everyone liked me. Everyone was surprised by my news of having to leave.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I searched far and wide for the perfect cats to be in my clan. I had been told by StarClan that my clan should be a clan for felians. They told me that I should pick the name, but that I should be wise about it. StarClan also told me my final destination was the mountains. After I found willing felians, and traveled with them to the mountains, I knew they were right.
There was a tribe in the mountains too, but their territory wasn't as big as the mountain range.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I knew that it hadn't been just fate that brought me to ThunderClan. I knew that this place, the place where my clan now lived, was prepared by StarClan just for us. They provided us with a mooncave, where we could speak to StarClan, and where leaders could get their nine lives. I became Silverstar, leader of WingClan, when I went there. My medicine cat, Goldenleaf, went there to talk to StarClan when she was first appointed medicine cat too.
It hadn't been very long, but my clan, WingClan, had grown to be quite the clan. We had plenty of warriors, apprentices, kits, queens, and even some elders we had picked up on the way too. WingClan, though still young, flourished. I felt that our connection with StarClan was also very strong, although, we didn't even live with the other clans. WingClan, like SkyClan, was a clan that didn't live with the others. SkyClan had been brought back by the legendary Firestar himself, and now, I was making history by creating WingClan.
I knew that creating WingClan was the best thing I had ever done, next to finding the clans of course. I knew that, even though it may have been hard at first, we had even almost fell apart, that it was worth it. Clan life was the best, and I was a witness to it.
