Although it was only early leaf fall, the white snow blew around like a huge white hurricane. The snow blanketed the ground like a sparkling white blanket.
I walked outside of den, and stretched. I loved the snow, even if it made it hard to fly. Our eyesight had adapted to the snow, and had become stronger, so we could see perfectly fine in even the heaviest of blizzards.
The fresh kill pile had decreased over night. Last night's feast when we had the apprentice ceremony for Fastpaw, Leafpaw, and Sparrowpaw. Fastpaw, and Leafpaw committed to becoming warriors, and Sparrowpaw committed to becoming a medicine cat.
I decided it was probably a good idea to go and hunt. Walking out of our camp, I nodded to Honeycloud, and Foxfur, last night's guards, and they nodded back.
I headed toward the eagle nests. They never even used those nests anymore, but other animals did. I guessed that the eagles had found a new home, one that was perhaps better.
Once I reach the nests, I hear, and see many birds of prey. I slowly go into a crouch, waiting for the right time to strike. I am stalking a falcon. I suddenly jump up, using my wings to boost me up. I jump onto the falcon's back, and try to get it to fall. It flaps it's wings, but is unable to fly because of my weight.
I manage to bring the falcon down, and I drag the body back to camp. This is all I can do right now, as all the birds fled the sight when I brought down the falcon.
I walk towards camp. The falcon is beautiful, and huge too! It will definitely feed multiple cats.
Honeycloud and Foxfur have been replaced by Emberpelt and Dappledwhisker. They nod in respect as I pass them, and enter camp.
After putting the falcon on the fresh kill pile, Tempestclaw bounds up to me.
"Silverstar, the blizzard is getting stronger. Some of the apprentices aren't ready for training in blizzard weather. Should I suspend their training sessions?" Tempestclaw asks, with slight worry in his eyes.
"No," I reply,"I believe they need the experience. They may be young, but training cannot be delayed. We may be growing, but there is more strength in being prepared."
Tempestclaw nods in respect. "OK, Silverstar."
"Do you have the border and hunting patrols figured out?"
"Yes, I do."
"OK," I add,"then you are free to enjoy yourself. I caught a plentiful falcon. Would you like some?"
"Yes, thank you," Tempestclaw answers.
We share a piece of the falcon, and go about our regular business.
All round camp, cats are sharing tongues, and stretching their wings. It was quiet, almost too quiet.
Ever since we came here, random loners attack at random times. We put up defenses, and train hard, but I could never shake the feeling something was wrong.
I decide to go on a quick flight to check around our borders. The snow made it slightly harder, but flying was still easy.
I saw nothing suspicious, but all of a sudden, I was being pushed down by and invisible force.
"Get off me!" I yell.
That's when I finally see it. A pure white cat with pure white wings. Her, as I could tell, body and wings blended in with the snow all around me.
As soon as she arrives, she leaves, leaving me with new wonders. Who was she, and what did she want?
I knew it was probably just a scare tactic, but how could I be sure it wasn't something bigger?
