Chapter 5.
Lockdown and I are discussing on how we could find the bunny. We're in the meeting room on my ship, it has a map of the entire universe and the galaxies we've searched marked. Turns out him and I have searched the same galaxies, it's rather convenient. I'm surprised we never ran into each other, probably a good thing too.
"So you've searched at least 15 different galaxies over the past 17 years?" I asked him.
"Indeed, this girl is surprisingly clever if she's evaded capture for so long." Lockdown said as he looked at the 3D holographic map.
One of his pet wolves came into the room, sniffing around. Then it came straight up to me, growling and snarling. I push it away from me but it just kept bothering me. Lockdown seemed to notice.
"What is it with your pet?" I asked.
"I don't know, he's never like this. Now out." He told the wolf to leave, which it reluctantly did.
I went back to looking at the map, trying to forget about that wolf. I stare at the map to see where the bunny girl could possibly be hiding, another galaxy most likely. The bounty hunter and I are really scratching our heads on this one, the bunny could be anywhere. She could've returned to a galaxy we searched already, or not. We just don't know for sure. But I'm sure we both want that reward for her, would be nice to have some extra weaponry and men.
"Perhaps we should continue this later." He suggested.
"Seems reasonable." I agreed and left the room as quick as I could.
I walked down the corridor as fast as I could, I heard his wolf following me. Turning my head, the wolf was there, growling and snarling. It was accompanied by a few more of its pack. I think I know why they're following me, they must've caught my scent and are tracking me. I use my psychic powers to push them away, I use the time to run down the corridor to my chamber. I enter and close the door behind me, the door locking itself. I saw Nightmare sitting on my bed.
Nightmare is the only one allowed to enter my chamber without my permission, but the reason for that is because he is my second in command. And he is my lover. He comes up to me and takes my clawed hands, looking into my shielded eyes.
"Commander Springlock, are you alright? You look rather nervous, even under your mask." Nightmare said.
"I'm fine." I told him, but he knew I was lying.
"Is it that bounty hunter? I don't trust him near you, something about him feels off." Nightmare whispered.
"It's his wolves, they're on me like moths towards light." I said.
"Hmmm, give them a new scent to follow. That should work." Nightmare suggested.
I thought about what scent could possibly throw them off my trail. Nightmare pulled me in for a hug, which I gladly accepted. I feel much better when I'm around him, he makes me very happy. The crew doesn't even know about our relationship, and we don't plan to reveal that anytime soon. But I need to get those wolves off my back, I think I know what to do.
*6 days later*
I got those wolves to follow one of Lockdown's men, meaning they're away from me. In fact, I've been avoiding Lockdown and his men like a plague. I've started to feel rather uncomfortable around him. But I was so relieved when I finally got the wolves to follow someone else, for now I rest in my captain's chair in the cockpit. I look out at the stars, thinking of my family that was killed several years ago. After that, I felt like I needed to strike out on my own, and I did. I miss my family greatly, but I have a new family and that is my crew.
My steel tail swished against the floor, leaving a few scratch marks. I'll deal with that later. I stood up and exited the cockpit, headed towards my chamber. I kept an eye out for Lockdown or his men, no one in sight, thankfully. I hurried towards my room and entered silently. I sighed of relief that I was finally by myself, I walked into my washroom and gazed into the mirror.
I put my hands on my mask and slowly pulled it off, revealing my face. I rarely see it like I used to, but several years ago I didn't have a choice but to hide my face. Hide myself. I stare at my eyes, one brown and one red. I put my mask back on as I heard Nightmare enter, I exited the washroom and saw him.
"Oh pardon me, Springlock. I didn't know you were in here." He said.
"It's quite alright, what did you come in here for?" I ask him.
"My weapon, I left it in here." He said as he picked up his weapon.
I felt guilty for not telling him who I truly was. So before he could leave, I grabbed his hand.
"Nightmare, can you stay for a minute?" I asked him.
He nodded, "Is something wrong, my love?"
"Actually, yes...there is." I whispered.
"Is it that bounty hunter again? Because I'll deal with him for you." He held my hands.
"Not entirely, but I've been hiding something from you..." I looked down.
He then looked rather concerned and he sat me down on the bed, still holding my hands in his.
"Springlock, what are you talking about?" He asked.
"Well...I'm not who you think I am." I said.
"What are you talking about?" Nightmare put his clawed hand on the side of my face, a tear running down my face.
"My mask...remove it. Please." I told him.
Nightmare looked very concerned and unsure if he should remove it. He's never seen me without it, and now I'm telling him to remove it.
"Springlock, I don't think that's-" he started.
"Nightmare, please. I want you to do it. You have my permission to do this, please take it off." I hung my head down so he could.
He sighed and grabbed a hold of my mask, slowly pulling it off. He was still hesitant because he pulled it off slowly. I heard him gasp slightly, I saw my ears flop down in front of my face as I looked up at him. Nightmare looked rather shocked at what he saw. My burned face, my Decepticon eye, my bunny ears....I looked at him.
"I'm not Springlock, Nightmare. I am Spring, the Decepticons fugitive."
