Chapter Nineteen
"Let go of me you jerks!" Screamed a voice coming from the woods. I extended my senses as I got up and ran. The thoughts of Annabeth and all of my sorrow melted away and turned into rage. Someone was being attacked, and most likely it was the hooded figures with their purple weapons. I sprinted as fast as possible through the trees, following the screams.
"Help please! Someone! Any-" the rest of the screams are muffled. My heart races as I get closer to the screams. I crash through an area of overgrown bushes and the screams are right infront of me. I instantly stop and hide inside one of the bushes, peering out.
The scene that unfolds before me is horrific. Three men in black cloaks with an assortment of purple weapons strapped around their waists hold a girl, her black hair and fancy clothes covered in dirt. They drag her and slam her down into the ground, as she cries out.
"You idiots! Let me go, your ruining my hair and my outfit!" She screams. Suddenly a hand is on my shoulder behind me. I jump and turn around, but it is only Luke. He puts a finger to his mouth and I turn back towards the scene.
"Barrett, what was that?" Asks one figure, who has a purple sword pointed at the girl. Another cloaked figure, Barrett, paces around, and pulls out a dagger. The third holds the girl down who is shrieking, but we are too deep into the woods for any normal demigod to hear. Only us Chaos Warriors.
Omega, we need to follow them, Luke says in my mind.
We need to get the girl out of there first, I say.
No, we need to follow them. They have to have some sort of base here or something, Luke says. I furrow my eyebrows and just sigh, agreeing.
"Are we going to kill her yet, or...?" Asks the voice holding the girl down.
"Hey, I have a name you ugly idiots!" The girl screams. That's when I immediately recognize her, and my heart skips a beat. Sure, she's a royal pain in the ass, but she didn't deserve death.
"Oh, yeah, and what is that princess?" The one holding the sword towards her leans down and snarls in her face. Drew scrunches up her face in disgust.
"Maybe I'll tell you once you brush your teeth," Drew whines. I imagine the man sneering underneath his hood, and he gets and just continues to keep the sword pointed at her.
"Who are you?" Drew asks. The one holding her down laughs.
"Why would we tell you that, Aphrodite spawn?" He snarls. Drew wrinkles her nose.
"Let me go," she says. For a split second, the man stands up, and then he snarls and leans back onto her.
"Really? The one you had to take is the one with charmspeak? Didn't Lord say she was the one who put Gaea back to sleep?" Asks Barrett, the slightest bit of fear lacing his voice.
"That's right, I defeated the entire army with only my voice, so you better let me go. I can turn all of you against eachother in a second," Drew boasts. None of them show any signs of intimidation, but the one with the sword puts it directly against Drew's neck. Drew whimpers.
"Another word outta you, your dead," they say. Drew just nods frantically.
"Why isn't anyone showing up? I thought the Chaos spawns had better hearing or something?" The one holding Drew down asks.
"I don't know, Jared, but we better do it, and hurry. Maybe it's better that they don't see us," they say.
"Fine. Go ahead Caitlyn," Barrett says. Caitlyn moves her sword from Drew's neck and and towards her wrist. I stiffen and my heart races with panic.
Bianca! Bianca! Get Apollo campers out here now! I scream into my mind, sending it out to Bianca. Caitlyn positions the sword directly over Drew's wrist.
Where are you? Bianca asks.
The woods, hurry! I say. There is a brief silence, and Drew is holding her breath, looking at the sword in fear, the light glinting purple onto her wrist.
"Stop where you are!" Screams Bianca, running through the woods with Apollo campers on her trail.
"Now now!" Barrett says. Caitlyn cuts the sword into Drew's wrist about a centimeter deep and Drew screams in pure agony. She doesn't stop screaming. Suddenly the cloaked figures all run and seem to dissolve into the darkness of the forest. The Apollo campers rush to Drew, and pick her up and carry her away. Bianca walks over to us sadly.
"Make it stop! Make it stop!" Drew screams, purple blood oozing out of her wrist. She is growing paler by the minute and is soon out of sight. Luke at I sit stunned, unsure of what is going on.
