The Ultimate Chaos

An old and dusty school bus' brakes squealed as it pulled up to a ten foot tall electric fence with barbed wire ringed at the top. The door screeched open and stopped half way. A petite girl with silver hair that had a purple tint, slipped through the opening. A small bag for light travel in tow. The doors closed and her hip length hair got caught. She roughly tugged it out and it fell back to her side. She wore a baggy grey jacket, baggy jeans, and black high-top converse. She pushed up her black thin rimmed glasses with the knuckle of her index finger. Her piercing silver eyes were bored and disinterested.

The fence sparked and she started inside. The school was... different, to say the least. There were many buildings, and one of them was smoking. Craters riddled the ground in seemingly random places and some trees in the distance were on fire. She trudged down the dirt road to the entrance of her new school.

Grand Line Academy

She walked up to the largest building and stood in front of the large bronze double doors. She didn't have the patience to admire the intricate metalworking. However, she did happen to notice the droplets of blood splattered on the front. She shouldered her bag and pushed the doors open. They surprisingly swung opened with ease.

She strode in and the few people there gaped in disbelief. "She just pushed it open like it was nothing." One whispered.

The other shielded their mouth from her view as if that was going to stop her from hearing. "It took me more than a week to open it, and even then I was almost dead."

The girl walked by them, ignoring their whispers and stares. She turned and headed down an abandoned hallway. A giant pair of wood doors loomed over her and she knocked a few times, waiting for a response. A muffled 'Come in' could be heard and she pushed the door open. She stepped inside and closed the door behind her.

"Mr.Roger?" She asked plainly and without emotion. The room was dark and she couldn't see much, but what she did see was disturbing. Skulls and bones were haphazardly laying around. Swords and simple guns of many kinds were hanging up on the wall, lying on the floor, and just about anywhere else you could see. There was a desk in the middle back of the room, with a man shadowed from the shoulders up sitting behind it. She could almost see him smirk.

He folded his fingers together. "Quite a feat you pulled off back there Miss Avalon." His voice was rough and gravely, like he hadn't had a glass of water in ages.

Avalon quirked an eyebrow in question. "Thanks?"

"Now," he leaned forward but managed to keep himself shrouded in shadows. "How long?"

Now she was really confused. "Pardon?"

"I was referring to the door. How long did it take you open it?"

She blinked a few times. "A few seconds I guess." She could tell he was skeptical, and shrugged. "I just pushed it and it opened."

"Interesting." He picked up a sheet of paper and stared at it intently. "I was wondering, is there a reason you didn't fill in a last name in your application?"

She stiffened slightly. "I don't have a last name sir."

He held out the paper for her to take from him and look at. "Then why do you have a middle name, or letter should I say?"

She took the paper and glanced at it. It was true, she didn't have a last name, or if she did she didn't remember it. What she did know was that the name she remembered was Avalon D. "It's the name I remember sir. As far as I'm aware, I've always had a middle name and never a last." She held the paper back out to him.

He took the paper from her. "Go to room 135 and you'll find your class schedule and dorm room keys. Good luck." She could feel his grin plastered on her back and she headed out the door and closed it behind her.

-

Avalon walked down the empty hallways with only her own footsteps being heard. A clicking noise sounded and she looked up to see intercoms embedded in the ceiling. A voice spoke and she recognized it as Mr. Roger's.

"The tie has been broken between Trafalgar, Kid, Luffy, and Ace in the amount of time taken to open the door." Everything was so quiet she could hear a pin drop. She wasn't near anyone but she could feel the tension in the air.

"The previous time, 10 minutes and 21 seconds. The new time, 4 seconds." Chaos exploded in the rooms around her. Talking, fighting, and everything in between. She had a feeling it was her fault, but being the person she was, she could care less.

She calmly walked down the now chaotic hallways, searching for room 135. She spotted a door ajar and went to close it when she spotted the number on it. 135. How convenient.

She walked inside and saw a few people sitting at desks doing various things like sleeping or eating. A blonde, brunette, and a green haired boy occupied the room. A teacher, or what she assumed was a teacher, was sitting at his desk scribbling something down on paper. She walked up next to his desk and took in his features.

A black trench coat was draped over his shoulders and he wore the typical 'I'm a teacher' outfit. His red hair attracted the eye's attention, but it didn't stand out the most. When he turned to her, she immediately caught notice of the three claw scars across his left eye. He grinned at her and held out his hand in greeting. "Hello." She took his hand and shook it. "You must be new here. Avalon I'm guessing?"

She nodded her head. "Indeed."

He chuckled and released her from his grip. "No need to be so formal."

"I always am formal sir." She spoke monotonly.

"Sorry, I haven't introduce myself yet. My name is Shanks, nice to meet you Avalon." He nodded his head. "Were you the one who caused all this commotion?"

She shrugged. "I guess. I don't see what the big deal is though."

Shanks smiled. "The door is a way to test the will power, physical, and mental strength of a person. The easier it is to open, the stronger a person is." He went into his desk and shuffled through some of the drawers.

"I see. Interesting way to test people without them even knowing it." She stood and played with the ring on her index finger.

"You'll get used to it." He triumphantly pulled out a slip of paper and a set of keys. "Here. These are your room keys and schedule. " He set the paper and keys in the palm of her outstretched hand and she stuffed it into her jacket pocket.

"Thanks." She started towards the door when she felt a hand in her shoulder. She turned and meet Shanks' face, inches away from her own.

"I'm going to tell you this now so you don't have to figure it out the hard way." She raised an eyebrow. His tone told her he was dead serious. "The school is composed of gangs. Each gang fights for the top to be the strongest by beating others up under the radar of the administration. Join a gang so you don't suffer the same fate as the others who didn't know." He dropped his hand to his side and smiled. "And I hope to see you alive tomorrow morning." He turned and left her confused.

As she walked out the door, pulling out her schedule. If her hunch was correct... And sure enough it was.

Monday: General Edu. with Mr.Shanks

Of course. But.... What was general education supposed to mean?

-

On the way to her room, she had figured out a few things. First, there was one class per day for each of the five week days. The other two were free days. Two, class started at 9:10 and ended at 2:20. That meant five hours and ten minutes of class each day. Three, just about everyone here was dangerous. Explosives, wicked strength, voodoo, black magic, and just about anything else was commonly carried or used. Four, some classes were insane. Weapons class? Survival class? What were those?

And then of course there were the devil fruits and their users. Those were the most dangerous people. They had unholy powers from the sea, each one different depending on the fruit. She took note that many students here possessed a fruit. All those kids in one place spelled disaster.

She arrived at her room. 666 Ironic considering this school was seen as hell to most outside people. She pushed in the key and the door clicked opened. The room was bare. Only two beds, two dressers and a door that probably lead to the bathroom. The colors were dark and welcoming. Greens and blues covered the room along with a dash of purple here and there.

Avalon walked over to the bed farthest from the door and closest to the window, and dropped her bag on it. A creak sounded from the doorway and she froze. "Hey you." It was a male's voice. She mentally chided herself for not closing the door.

She turned and recognized him as the boy who was sleeping in room 135. He had green hair and a tough guy vibe around him. The fact that he had three piercings in one ear and three swords at his side helped. He wore a white shirt with black pants and a green wrap around his lower torso. "Can I help you?" She looked at him plainly.

He cleared his throat and looked down. "Could you tell me where room 66 is?" His voice was gruff and he sounded slightly embarrassed to be asking the question.

She turned to him fully. "Did you get lost?"

He looked up to her and his face grew angry. "No, I was just checking out the area."

She raised an eyebrow. "In the middle of the school year?"

The volume of his voice increased. "Look I'm just directionally challenged!"

She gave him a flat look, the most emotion she had shown since being on school grounds. "So in other words, you get lost easily."

He gripped one of the three swords at his side and glared at her, shooting daggers. She narrowed her eyes at him. Their forehead pressed together and you could almost see lightning being shot back and forth through glares.

"Oi marimo!" A voice shouted. The green haired boy just barely had enough time to unsheathe his sword. Sword clashed with the leg of a blond man in a tux, who she recognized as the one in the classroom who had been reading a cookbook. He took another swing before jumping away. Avalon took a giant step back since this was happening right in front of her doorway.

"What was that for curly brows?!" He unsheathed his other two swords to make a total of three.

"You should never be hostile to a lady!" He yelled back. "Even if she isn't that beautiful!"

Avalon's eye twitched. Not that beautiful? Normally she didn't mind being called ugly, but the way he said it. It was like he was comparing her to every other girl he had ever seen. And it ticked her off. If there was one thing that made her angry, it was being compared to others.

As the two argued and bombarded each other with insults while fighting, they had yet to notice the ghastly aura growing beside them.

She slammed a fist down onto both of their heads. They clutched their heads in pain. As soon as they looked up to see her face, their blood went cold. She now had a deadly aura around her and her posture stiff. Her eyes were narrowed and ice cold. The expression on her face showed that she was clearly beyond pissed off. "No fighting in front of my door."

The blonde shrank back in fear and the green haired boy took many steps back. She pointed down the hall to the left. "Down that hall is room 66." She loomed over the two. "And don't ever come back." They sprinted off in the same direction, bound to start fighting again.

She closed her eyes, pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. She was the only sane one here. She realized she had arrived fairly late to school, so it was already dusk. She went into her room, actually remembering to close the door this time, changed into pjs, and flopped on the bed after moving her bag off. Another sigh escaped her lips. This school was going to be the ultimate chaos.
