Prelude
Once, there was a girl.
Okay, that's not surprising. There's always a girl. But this girl is different.
This girl was rebellious. She had blackened hair and ripped shirts and jeans. She wore rings with spikes and knee-high combat boots. She hid her emotions with dark eye liner and snarky remarks.
She wasn't accepted by anybody.
Her family had disowned her. She hid in her room, away from her five brothers and three sisters. Her parents never even remembered to call her down for dinner. She didn't blame them though, her siblings shone much more than her dark cloud that she carried with her.
She did have one sibling that she was fond of. Of course, what else to you expect with two people when they shared a womb? Yes, her twin brother was her best friend. Even in their separate, teenaged rooms, they were inseparable.
One day, as the girl walked home from school with her brother, her phone fell from her fingers. Okay, someone yanked it from her and threw it. It landed over the hedges around the school yard. She had to walk all the way around to reach it—not like anyone was blowing her phone up or anything.
As her twin waited for her against a nearby tree, she began to search. She looked around for the boxy touch screen device, only to stumble upon a ring that looked much like one of her own. Only, instead of it being a cold, bear spike, it had a blue gem on the peak. The ring was awkwardly placed in the middle of nowhere. Maybe someone had lost it? Sucks for them. It's her's now.
She slid the ring in the very front pocket of her book bag and pulled her unscathed phone from beneath a tree branch behind the hedges.
Little did she know her newly found finger-fashion statement would lead her on a bizarre, wicked, fantastic journey.
Or, should I say, little did I know.
