Everyone tells us, "Be yourself". But this isn't what they're actually saying. What they really mean is "Be what the society wants you to be".

But don't blame them. We are society too. Every second of our lives is consumed by adopting ways so we could fit ourselves in the society. Our answer to almost everything depends on how others would react. Our decisions rely upon people's response.

Life is no more for living to the fullest. It is for reaching up to the standards. Every time we want a change, people would judge us. If we want to do something that is not too mainstream, we will be criticized. If we don't do well in exams, we have to go through the disappointing stares of our teachers. We study not to make our future, but to maintain our usual top score in class. We marry not to be with the one we love, but because that's what people our age have to do. We compromise not because we want to hold onto our relations, but because that's what expected of us. We are happily being played in the hands of society and we're okay with it. Just like Puppets.

In the end, every ambition, every dream and every effort turns into dust because it's not up to the taste and customs of our family. We grow up to be a person, exactly fitting the idea of the society, fulfilling all expectations yet burying our dreams.
