Chapter 11

⚔ The Right Way ⚔

Over the next few days, Corin walked around in a bubble. She hadn't smiled since she had told Kallm the truth. But this way was for the best. Perhaps Kallm would never forgive her, perhaps it was for the best.

Corin shook her head and continued stacking the shelves. This same chore she would have done with a smile on her face a few weeks ago, but after the arrival of Kallm, everything just felt different. It felt as if she could do nothing without remembering the smiling boy who had cared for her long before he had known who she was. But it's only fair she reasoned with herself. This is what she had done to Kayana. Ofcourse, she was not in love with Kallm, not yet anyway, but still she felt the pain of losing him in a way that she knew was so much less than what her brother and Kayana had felt.

Corin felt a tear escape her usually calm facade that she had adopted in front of her aunty as of late, and for once, Corin let it continue its journey down her face. She deserved this. It seemed lately that's all she had been telling herself. That she deserved to feel the same hurt that she had willingly placed on two of the most precious people in her life. She was right.

"Hello Ji, how are you today?"

Corin could hear someone talking to her aunty near the front of the store and she quickly wiped her eyes in fear of someone seeing her. She knew she may have to help the customer as the small store made it difficult for Lirat to get around in her wheelchair.

"Hello Ziluf. Call me Lirat. How is your mother?"

Corins' brows furrowed. She didn't remember that name. Ziluf? Turning around, Corin made eye contact with the back of a very tall man. His sandy hair sat at barely his collar and he seemed to be laughing at something Lirat had said, but what had Corin more confused was that she recognised his back. She had noticed this man many times, sometimes he sat at the fountain, drinking in the sun, and other times he was walking across the street from her. But come to think of it, she had never seen him actually work.

Lirat finally looked over, and saw Corin's look of puzzlement instead of her usually plain expression. Lifting her own brow, Lirat gestured Corin to come over.

"Corin, come here please beti."

Pulling her scarf over her head, Corin nodded, anything to think about something other than Kallm, even if for just a moment.

"Could you show this young man to the bathroom cleaning area? Help him please beti." And with that, Lirat turned away, her attention grabbed by Mrs. Kren who had just wandered in waving at her.

At that moment, the man turned around and Corin's was fully assaulted by his electric blue eyes. This was the same man who had come a few weeks ago.

"Hello Corin, how are you?"

Corin could only nod and walk, leading the way to the back towards the cleaning agents. This man was the one she had been seeing everywhere? As she got to the end, Corin turned, about to ask him what he needed but was instead stumped by the sloppy smile on his face as he looked at her face.

Corin self consciously lifted a hand to her cheek, to which his response was to shake his head as he averted his eyes to the shelves. Corin finally felt like she could think straight.

There was something very unnerving about this guy.

"I'm helping my mother with some cleaning and the bathroom is next. What do you think?"

All Corin could think at that moment was how Kallm had looked when he was stocking the shelves back here or when he had been mopping. He had done it all with a smile.

"Lavender?"

Corin glanced up quickly. Her mouth fell open. What had he just called her?

"Excuse me?"

His smile never faltered, he knew exactly what he was doing to Corin.

"Cherry? Or lavender?"

Corin numbly pointed at the cherry brand and attempted to walk past him, his large body blocked the way but she was determined to get through.

"You never asked me what my name was."

Corin looked up at his face, the smile finally gone and his lips lay in a straight line. She remember hearing it when he had spoken to Lirat, but now, why couldn't she remember it?

"That's because she doesn't want to know."

Corin's heart leaped in her chest as she looked over the blue-eyed giants shoulder and saw Kallm standing behind him, his hands balled into fists. Corin could see his chest heaving up and down and she didn't know whether to feel happy or afraid.

Nonchalantly looking back, the man leaned towards Corin's ear, her eyes still looking at Kallm's while his on the man.

"It's Ziluf. And I'll be seeing you very soon."

Turning on his heel, Ziluf turned around, throwing Kallm a smile that missed its target as he continued staring at Corin.

"We need to talk."

⚔ The Right Way ⚔

Hello Everyone!

So what do we think about Ziluf? Is he a good guy? Or does he have something to hide? Should we be worried?

Also, why is Kallm back? What does he want to talk about?

I have a feeling that The Right Way is about to get a lot more complicated ;).

Let me know what you think!

Much love!

<3 Shay
