Chapter 23

"I can't believe you did all this, Niall. It's amazing, so romantic." I said. "And you even got the boys to help!" He chuckled at that one.

"Well, it took a little convincing, but eventually they agreed. And I apologize in advance if the food is bad. I'm not sure how good of cooks Liam and Harry are."

"I'm sure it will be fine." We were interrupted when Louis and Zayn came back out, a little notepad in Zayn's hand. This was adorable...and kind of hilarious.

"So, tonight we are having a special of salad, Italian-style spaghetti, and garlic bread. What can I interest you in?"

"Um...I think I'll have...the spaghetti." I laughed.

"Excellent choice, ma'am. I've heard it's wonderful." Louis joked.

"Believe it or not, I'll have the same." Niall said.

"Okay, we will have that coming right up." Zayn said, and the two of them made their way back up to the house.

"So, Torre. I have an idea for when we're waiting."

"Oh yeah, and what would that be?" I asked.

"Twenty questions?" Niall suggested with curious eyes. What was he up to?

"Okay."

"I'll start then. Question one...when is your birthday?"

"My birthday is August 10th, 1994...so I'm 19, if you didn't already figure that out." I laughed out. Why did I have to be so awkward? "And same question for you."

"September 13th, 1993, so I'm 20, if you didn't already know that." he said with a wink. He was so cute! "Okay, next question...I already know about your family...hmm...where did you grow up?" This should be interesting. I took a deep breath before beginning.

"Well, I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. I lived there until I was about three, and then my dad got a new job with a national marketing company. My sister was just a baby, but we all moved to Minneapolis with the new job. Then, when I was five, he got transferred to New York. We lived there for about a year, until we went to, um, I think Seattle next. We stayed there for three years. That was a long one. I loved Seattle. Eventually though, we went to Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Indianapolis, and then here in LA. After we moved here though, my dad quit his job. The moving around was just too hard on all of us."

"Luckily I got to finish my last two years of high school in the same place, so I actually made some good friends, and then, obviously I wanted to stay close for college, so I chose the college I chose. Does that answer your question?" I said a bit playfully, but it was actually a hard subject for me to talk about. Moving around was so hard on me as a kid.

"Yeah. Oh wow. I never would've guessed." Niall explained, with a bewildered look on his face. "I can't imagine moving around and all that."

"It was really hard. I just never felt like I actually belonged somewhere, because once I would finally get used to somewhere, we would just move again to some new place. I never really made good friends, because there was never enough time to form solid friendships. I guess that's why I'm so attached to my family. They were basically the only thing around me that really stayed the same."

"I'm so sorry. That must have been so hard on you." Niall said sympathetically, grabbing my hand from across the table and sending butterflies fluttering through me again. Darn butterflies.

"Ehh, I made it through. Enough about me." I said, trying to change the subject. "What was it like for you growing up?" I asked, wanting to know more about his childhood.

"Glad you asked." Niall said in a deep, game show host voice, sending the both of you into a fit of giggles. "No, but really," he said, getting serious again. "I grew up in Mullingar. It's a really small town, very traditional and all like that. I'm really close to my brother, Greg. I just had a good time in school and stuff like that."

"That's nice." I said, feeling genuinly happy for him--especially now that he has to be away for so long but can still look back on it with happy memories. "Good question."

"Okay, moving on. Question three...what's your favorite food."

"Easy. Ice cream. You?"

"Easy, Nandos. Question four, what's your favorite thing to do when you're alone?"

"I like that question." I said, taking a minute to think about it. "Probably just sitting in my room, listening to music and writing. That sounds a lot more dorky coming out of my mouth than it did in my head." I blurted, and that made him laugh.

"No it's not dorky. I'm actually really alike--just not writing. I more just strum some notes on my guitar."

"I can picture you doing that." I said, seeing images of Niall sitting on his bed struming his guitar and humming a tune in my mind.

"Yeah I think almost everyone can. Question five...favorite movie?"

"Gotta be Harry Potter. And you?"

"Stepbrothers. It's so funny!"

"I should've guessed that." I pointed out. We were interrupted by Zayn and Louis coming back down.

"Just coming down to check on you guys. Your food will be out shortly. Can I get you some more water or anything."

"Sure." Niall and I said in unison. Louis picked the glasses up.

"We'll be right back." Zayn said and they walked away again.

"Where were we...question 6, I believe. Favorite animal?"

"I'm not much of an animal person...a goldfish, I guess? I've never really had pets."

"Okay, I like dogs, but I don't have any pets either. Favorite thing to do with friends?"

"Probably just hang out or go out to eat or the mall or something. You?"

"Pretty much the same..just chilling. Um...let's see..." he said, thinking of another question. "Best friend?"

"Um, my sister, Amy, and Eliza." I said, nodding to him.

"Probably Harry or Louis. Favorite color?"

"Purple. Definitely purple.And what's yours?"

"I'm gonna go with green, but it changes weekly, so be prepared to keep up." I couldn't help but laugh out at him. Was he serious? He was cute all the same though.

"I'll try my best."

"Okay question 10...halfway there...what do you want to do when you get out of college?"

"Well, hopefully I'll get some job writing...and then while doing that I can hopefully start writing a book." I said, with hope in my eyes. When I looked up, Niall was smiling at me.

"That's great, Torre." Was all he said. I could still feel his eyes burning into me.

"Um, so what about you, what do you want to do, the rest of your life...I guess." Trying to change the subject.

"I'm not really sure, to be honest. I just kind of take it day by day."

"That's understandable." I said. Zayn and Louis appeared at the doorway, each holding a plate of food.

"Oh gosh, look at those idiots." Niall joked. I think it's adorable how close all the boys are. They all really do care about each other, and it's amazing to see.

"So here we have two of the specials, spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread. Chefs Liam and Harry hope you enjoy your meal." Louis said, in his most server-like manner.

"Hope you like it." Zayn said, as they set the food in front of us.

"Thank you very much." I said.

"Thank you boys."

"You're very welcome." They said, and walked back into the house.

"Mmm looks yummy." I said, twirling some spaghetti noodles around my fork.

"Let's hope it is. The last time Harry tried to cook we ended up with a slight kitchen fire and burnt chicken. I'm sure Liam helped him out though." Niall said with a chuckle. I took a bite and it was very good.

"It's just as good as it looks." I said.

"Well good. Should we continue the questions?" he asked. I nodded and he started questioning me again. They were just little things that neither of us knew about each other, but I was very interested to learn more about him. The sun was now almost setting, and the candles on the table gave off a romantic glow.

We were soon finished eating, and Zayn and Louis brought out desserts. There were so many of them! Niall said he went to a bakery, and didn't know what to get, so he just got a bunch. And there were a bunch! I settled on a strawberry cupcake, and was licking the icing off the top when Niall spoke again.

"So, question 20...last one." He said, and stopped. He grabbed my hand across the table again and I giggled.

"And what will your last question be?" I laughed playfully.

"Well, I've been wanting to ask you this for a while now...My last question is: Will you be my girlfriend?"

 {A/N: What do you think Torre will say?! How are you guys liking it? What's been your favorite part so far? I'd love to know :-) Thanks for all your lovely comments, and thanks for voting too! You all are wonderful <3}
