Chapter 5: Confrontations
"Lincoln you have visitors." A nurse came into Lincoln's room at the Royal Woods psychiatric hospital.
Lincoln fallowed the nurse to the visiting area. There he was greeted by his parents and sisters.
"How are doing sweetie?" Rita said to her son.
"I'm fine." Lincoln said.
"Lincoln I am so sorry I yelled at you." Lori said through tears.
"Lori you say that every time you guys visit me." Lincoln reminded her. "It's ok."
"I just... I had no idea you were so sick." Lori added.
"Are you coming home soon." Lynn asked. "We really miss you."
"Are you still hearing those voices?" Rita asked.
"Sometimes." Lincoln said.
"What are they even saying?" Lynn asked.
"Are they telling you to hurt people?" Lori said. "Or to do something you're not comfortable with."
"I have no idea." Lincoln said. "I don't think they speak English. And it's not so much a they, as a he."
"That Red King guy?" Lori asked. "That literally sounds like the name of a comic book villain. Are you sure he's not one of Ace Savvy's enemies or something?"
"You can check those books for yourself." Lincoln replied. "There is no character in any Ace Savvy comic, or even any comic that I have ever read, who's name is The Red King."
"Steven King once wrote of a character named the Crimson King." Lucy pointed out. "He was the main villain in the Dark Tower series."
"I haven't even heard of those books." Lincoln said.
"I also read a story online once about a character called The Scarlet King." Lucy added.
"Well that just sounds like a rip off of the Crimson King." Lincoln replied.
"Do you think this has anything to do with that staircase I dared you to climb?" Lynn said with a tone of guilt.
"What staircase?" Rita said.
"We found this staircase in the woods in the beginning of summer." Lynn replied. "I dared Lincoln to climb it. I... I'm really sorry."
Lana shuddered remembering what had happened to her on that camping trip. The family still didn't believe her about the monster.
...
Ronnie Anne's friend Syd had gone with her to Royal Woods for the summer. The two where hanging out in the hotel room.
"So, when am I going to meet that Lincoln guy you told me so much about." Sid asked. "He sounds so cool!"
"Well about that." Ronnie Anne said.
"Don't tell me he doesn't exist." Sid said.
"What? No of course he exists." Ronnie Anne said. "It's just... He's not exactly how I remembered him."
"What do you mean?" Sid asked.
"He's uh..." Ronnie Anne said. "Well currently he's being held in a mental hospital."
"OH MY GOSH!" Sid exclaimed. "Lincoln's a crazy person!"
"Well I'm not sure I would say that..." Ronnie Anne said.
"Did he murder his own family?" Sid asked.
"WHAT!!?!? Of course not." Ronnie Anne said. "Last time I saw him he started hearing voices and had a panic attack."
...
Lincoln sat in his room at the mental hospital.
As he starred at the ceiling, he softly sang to himself.
"I don't like my mind right now,
Stacking up the problems is so unnecessary."
He got off his bed. On the table beside his bed was the picture he took of himself and his siblings. He had given it to his parents as an anniversary gift, but the let him have the picture while he was in the hospital, hoping it will help him through.
"I wanna let go but there's comfort in the panic
And I drive myself crazy
Thinking everything's about me
Yeah, I drive myself crazy
'Cause I can't escape the gravity"
Lincoln picked up the picture and stared at it
"I'm holding on
Why is everything so heavy?
Holding on
So much more than I can carry
I keep dragging around what's bringing me down
If I just let go, I'd be set free
Holding on
Why is everything so heavy?"
Meanwhile at the loud house. Lori stood in the backyard watching the sunset as she too started to sing.
"It's not like I make the choice.
To let my mind stay so freaking messy.
I know I'm not the center of the universe, but you keep spinning around me just the same.
I'm holding on
Why is everything so heavy?
Holding on
So much more than I can carry
I keep dragging around what's bringing me down
If I just let go, I'd be set free
Holding on
Why is everything so heavy?"
Lori sat but the tree in the backyard, at the same time Lincoln sat on his bed with his ack against the wall. The two siblings sang as if in a duet though they were miles apart.
"I know I'm not the center of the universe
But you keep spinning 'round me just the same
I know I'm not the center of the universe
But you keep spinning 'round me just the same
And I drive myself crazy
Thinking everything's about me
Holding on
Why is everything so heavy?
Holding on
So much more than I can carry
I keep dragging around what's bringing me down
If I just let go, I'd be set free"
Lincoln lay back down on his bed.
"Holding on
Why is everything so heavy?
Why is everything so heavy?
Why is everything so heavy?"
Then he drifted off to sleep.

"Lincoln dear, you have a visitor" a nurse walked into Lincolns room the next morning.
Lincoln fallowed the nurse expecting to see his family again. But the man Lincoln saw in the middle of the visiting room was not one he had ever seen before.
He was a tall, slender black man. He had a fancy black suit with a matching black tie, and sunglasses.
"You Lincoln Loud." The man said.
"Y-yeah." Lincoln stuttered, starting to hide behind the nurse.
"My name is agent Jay." The man explained. "I am a federal agent, and I have some questions for you regarding a case."
"I... I want my mom and dad." Lincoln whispered to the nurse.
"Now understand you're scared." Agent Jay said. "Now that's alright I understand. Some strange guy come to see you asking questions and you're like, man who is this fool harshing my buzz. You know what I'm saying?"
Lincoln shook his head.
"Look Lincoln you're not in trouble. I just need to ask you a few questions ok?" The agent said.
"Ok" Lincoln said.
The agent lead Lincoln to a secure room with a two-way mirror, and a security camera.
This is an interrogation room! Lincoln thought.
The two sat at the table.
"You never said who you work for." Lincoln said. "You FBI, CIA."
"I'm actually in an agency above them." Jay explained, showing Lincoln his badge. "We are called SCP. Or Secure Contain and Protect."
"Oh, my next guess was going to be the Men In Black." Lincoln said.
"Well Men in Black just an awesome movie." Jay explained. "One I have personally seen many times. And I guess you could call us the Men In Black. At SCP we deal with the things that go bump in the night, monsters ghouls, stuff of legend. The things nightmares are made of. Our job is to hunt the monsters down, contain them, and make sure nobody knows about them."
"So why do you wanna talk to me?" Lincoln asked.
"Would you happen to know someone by the name of Lana Loud." The agent asked.
"Yeah she's my sister." Lincoln smiled.
"Well, when you see her next, you may want to return this to her." Jay pulled a red hat from his suit jacket and handed it to Lincoln.
"Where did you..."
"We found it in the woods. It was in a puddle of liquid not from this world." Jay explained.
"So like aliens?" Lincoln exclaimed. "Extraterrestrials!"
"Actually, we think it's extra dimensional." Jay said. "About 11 years ago, a rift opened up in space and time. Slowly creatures started coming from this rift. It was this event that started the creation of the SCP."
"So, what does this have to do with me?" Lincoln asked.
"Well a few weeks ago." Jay explained. "We received a signal coming from the rift. It was just one word. And the word was Loud. We had no idea what that meant at first, if it was a code, or maybe our species was making to much noise amongst the cosmos. I had researchers look through all of human history to see if the word Loud meant something more significant than volume. Nothing came up. That is until we found this hat, a hat found amongst the remains of a creature we knew to have come from that very rift."
"So, Lana was telling the truth about the monster." Lincoln said.
"On that hat was written "property of Lana Loud" That's when it hit me. When the signal said Loud, it wasn't volume, it was a name. Not just a name, but the name of a family that just happened to have a baby boy around the same time the rift opened up." Jay explained. "Does this mean anything, I don't know, could be a coincidence. So, the word is you have been hearing voices in your head."
"Yeah the doctors say I have something called schizophrenia." Lincoln replied.
"He's real Lincoln." Jay said.
"What?"
"The Red King." Jay elaborated. "The voice in your head. Your file says you claimed to here voices from a being named The Red King."
"Oh." Lincoln said. "Who is he? The Red King."
"We are not quite sure." Jay explained. "But your name coming from the rift, and your little meltdown, it's gotta be related. So, I have taken the liberty of having my best men find all the information that we can on this Red King. What we have found is... a bit disturbing."
"What did you find?" Lincoln asked.
"Not sure you wanna know." Jay said. "It will frighten you."
"Come on I can take it!" Lincoln begged.
"Well we have not found one single story of The Red King." Jay said. "What we found was many of them. All across the world among antient ruins of lost civilizations, we have found many legends referring to The Red King, or beings that may be the Red King or somehow related to him.
These legends don't agree on everything, but they agree on enough that we can find a pattern. Whoever the Red King is, he is as old as time itself, this is one thing all accounts agree on. He seems to be some sort of God or demon. Some say he came to realize that existence is nothing but suffering and seeks to wage war on all of existence. Others say he wants to rule over all that there is.
Writings found in antient Mayan ruins seem to describe the Red Kings abilities. They say he can turn himself into fire, that he can destroy an entire solar system with the snap of his fingers, and that he can control the fabric of reality itself. Antient texts found deep in the amazon rainforest describe the Red King as being so horrifying in appearance, so far beyond our understanding that even the strongest wills would go mad should they gaze upon him."
"That all sounds very epic... But what does this have to do with me?" Lincoln asked.
"We have found a prophecy in well..." Jay said. "Well we found it in the lost city of Atlantis... Well it's not lost anymore."
"You found Atlantis?" Lincoln said.
"Yes, but that's beside the point." Jay said. "Atlantis is where we found to most detailed information on The Red King. We found a prophecy within the ruins that stated a child will be born when the universe tears open, this child will be the end of the Red King's rule."
"So, the Red King wants to find and kill me before I can overthrow him?" Lincoln said.
"It would appear so. We also found something else of interest in Atlantis." Jay explained. "Another prophecy, that was more of a warning. Should the Red King's true name be revealed and spoken out loud, all will change."
"So, he's so powerful that even his name could end the universe?" Lincoln said. "I'm not sure I can wrap my head around this."
"Well you're not going to remember this conversation." Jay said, pulling out what looked like a pen with a light at the end of it. "You've seen the movies, you know how this works."
Jay put on a pair of sunglasses and pointed the device at Lincoln.
"WAIT!?!?" Lincoln called out. "Why would you tell me all this just to make me forget..."
The light flashed.
Jay put the device away and opened his mouth to tell Lincoln a false memory, but Lincoln raised his hand to cut him off.
"Save the fake memory." Lincoln said. "Your primitive mind eraser didn't work."
Jay looked confused. "Primitive?"
"Wasn't that hard for me to shield the boy's mind from your... human technology." Lincoln said.
"Uh Lincoln?" Jay said. "Just what have they been giving to you here?"
"Oh, I'm sorry." Lincoln said. "Lincoln can't come to the phone right now can I take a message?"
Jay looked around. "What the heck is going on here?"
"I would introduce myself." Lincoln said. "But you already seem to know a lot about me. If I didn't know any better, I would say you were a stalker."
"The Red King?" Jay said.
An evil smirk spread across Lincoln's face. "I would say live and in person, but this is more like... What I'm told you humans call Skype."
"You possessed Lincoln?" Jay said, shocked. "That is some seriously messed up..."
"Shit." Lincoln finished Jay's sentence.
"Well Red." Jay threatened. "If that is you. Here's how it's going to go down. You are NOT going to come down here with your little invasion force, demanding that we bow down to you. I think you will find us earthlings are not to be underestimated. Second you are going to patch up that little hole you made in the universe before some real freaky stuff comes out and causes some real trouble. Then you are going to turn your butt around, and go back to whatever pit you came from, before we blast you into swiss cheese. Do you understand me?"
Lincoln laughed, then he waved his hand, and Jay was sent flying back by some invisible force. Lincoln (or the being controlling Lincoln) laughed as Jay scrambled to his feet. Jay looked around.
"Your friends can't hear us or see us." Lincoln said. "The camera's gone."
Jay looked to see the camera had vanished. Then he looked back at the mirror.
"And your little two-way mirror trick." Lincoln said. He flicked his hand in the direction of his own body, and the mirror fell to the ground and shattered, revealing a solid wall behind it.
"WHAT THE HECK IS GOIG ON!?!?" Jay yelled. He tried to open the door, but found the door was painted on. "No, I know there is a door here. How else did we get in this room?"
"So, what did you want me to do again?" The creature controlling Lincoln said. "Patch up the hole in the universe, then turn ass and leave. Or else what? You and some rag tag group of plucky earthlings are somehow, against all odds going to kick my royal ass to next fuckin' Thursday?"
The creature gave a laugh through Lincoln's mouth. "Boy who the fuck do you think you are?"
"I am agent Jay of the SCP foundation." Jay said. "I am a protector of this planet and realm. And I am not a BOY."
"Ok sorry miss." The creature controlling Lincoln replied. "don't get your pig tails in a bunch there, little girl."
"What? No, I am a MAN!" Jay shot back.
Lincoln pointed his finger to the ground, and Jay was forced to his knees.
"You are an insect." The being controlling Lincoln said. "Where do you think I am?"
"Where?" Jay said. "What do you mean where?"
"I mean not this adorable little white-haired vessel." Possessed Lincoln replied. "But my true physical form. The form you described as. Oh, what was it? So terrifying and incomprehensible that even the strongest of wills would go mad to gaze upon it. Where do you think THAT is?"
"Outer space." Jay said. "Probably somewhere in this solar system to be able to remote control a human host like this."
"Not exactly." Possessed Lincoln smirked. "I am actually billions of lightyears away, near the center of what you humans call the Milky Way Galaxy. Now I have the power and technology to control a what? 3 to 4-foot-tall child, who doesn't way more than 80 pounds from billions of lightyears away. I can even channel some of my power through this vessel as I have so demonstrated, and yes I assure you this is a mere fraction of what I can do. So, what in this ever-expanding universe make you think that you have the upper hand? That you are in ANY position to call the shots."
"What do you want?" Jay growled.
"Let me guess." The Red King said with Lincoln's voice. "You wanna know what my deelio is with the Loud family. Well, uh Ray was it?"
"Jay."
"Well Jay, if I told you the connection between me and the Loud bloodline, your tiny little brain would melt and pour out of your fucking ears. That is if your entire head doesn't fucking blow up."
Jay got up and grabbed Lincoln by the collar.
"I demand that you stop possessing this child right now!" Jay ordered.
Then Lincoln slipped out of Jay's grip.
"Butter fingers." The little possessed boy smirked, as Jay wiped off the melted butter that had suddenly materialized on his hands.
"Oh, my Jay." Possessed Lincoln said. "It would seem to me that you're all thumbs."
Jay looked at his hands to see that all of his fingers had turned into thumbs.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!" Jay screamed in terror. He shook his hands and they returned to normal. "Somebody Let me out of here?!?!"
"You've seen it haven't you?" Possessed Lincoln said.
"Seen what?" Jay asked.
"That which comes from the rift." Possessed Lincoln said. "The black goo. And I know you know what kind of fucked up shit come from that goo."
Jay pounded on the painting of a door.
Suddenly the painting turned back into a door and opened up. Jay tumbled into the hall, and Lincoln fallowed.
"You stay away from me!" Jay yelled.
Then a group of guards entered the hall armed with tasers.
"Oh, look the cavalry's here." Possessed Lincoln said.
"Subdue him, but don't hurt him." Jay ordered. "He's not in control, but it's still an innocent child in there."
"How noble of you." Possessed Lincoln said.
The guards shot at Lincoln with the tasers. Lincoln lifted his hand causing the taser blasts to stop in mid-air. Lincoln made a pulling motion with his hands and the tasers where ripped out of the guards hands.
Lincoln aimed his hand at the guards and red flames shot out of his hand like a flamethrower. The flames engulfed the guards turning them to ash.
"NNOOOOO!!!!!" Jay screamed.
Possessed Lincoln looked at his hand, the skin was black and charred.
"Damn it!" Possessed Lincoln said. "This vessel is to weak for my powers. I'm going to have to watch what I do, or I'm going to kill this poor kid."
Two more guards came from the other end of the hall. These guards where armed with handguns, aimed right at Lincoln.
"Easy now." Possessed Lincoln said. "If you shoot me, the only thing you'll do is kill Poor sweet innocent Lincoln Loud. And me, the big bad Red King, will be unharmed."
James Prawly had made his way into the mental hospital while all this was going on. It was at this moment that Prawly was ale to sneak up behind one of the guards, extend a metal spike from his hand, and stick it into the back of the guard's skull.
Prawly's spike quickly drained the guards brain for the parasite inside of Prawly to feed on.
The other guard aimed his gun at the new intruder. Prawly then grabbed the gun out of the guard's hand, and headbutted him, knocking him to the ground.
"Sparky!" Possessed Lincoln said." You made it just in time."
"Your majesty." Prawly took a knee and bowed to the Red King's vessel.
"Wait, his name is Sparky?" Jay said in disbelief.
"Sparky, my loyal mind worm." Possessed Lincoln said. "And my best friend."
"You want me to take care of this one too sir." Prawly (or Sparky) suggested.
"No, I like this one." Possessed Lincoln said. Then he pulled something out of his pocket. It was the device that Jay was going to use to wipe Lincoln's memory. Possessed Lincoln grabbed the sunglasses off of Jay and gave them to Prawly. "you might want to put these on Sparky. I'm going to use this primitive mind eraser on agent Jay here. I'll psychically wipe Lincoln's mind too, then implant a false memory into the boy's brain that should cover all of this. Then I want you to posses whoever is in charge here, and have Lincoln cleared and returned to his loving family."
"Yes sir."
"Then I will break my connection to Lincoln before I give him permanent brain damage." Possessed Lincoln added. "Then I want you to find out as much as you can about the Loud family, and make sure no harm comes to them."
"Yes sir."
"Oh Sparky, By the way. I think the humans found out what you did to Atlantis." Possessed Lincoln pointed out.
"Hey, they were about to mount an expedition to find and destroy you sir." Sparky said. "I had to set those nukes off."
...
Lincoln Loud stood in the hallway, with agent Jay sitting at his feet. Neither of them could remember what had just happened.
"What happened." Agent Jay moaned.
"I...I don't remember." Lincoln said. He looked at his hand. It was singed. Smoke filled the hall. He could remember going onto the interrogation room. Then he remembered the flames filling the room, he remembered Jay being unconscious, and himself pulling the agent to safety. That's what he remembered, but somehow it didn't feel real. Must have been the adrenaline.
"I..." Lincoln stuttered. "I think I just saved your life."
...
The official story was that a gas leak caused an explosion in the hospital.
The explosion had taken the lives of four guards.
Lincoln heroically saved the life of a federal agent, (the agent wished to stay anonymous).
Lincoln Loud was commended for his bravery. A few day later he was deemed heathy enough to go home and was returned to his family.
...
"Welcome home Lincoln!" The Loud family greeted Lincoln with smiles and open arms as he came in the front door.
"So glad to have you back bro!" Lynn Jr. said.
"We really missed you son." Lynn Sr. said.
"Yeah and we heard about that guy you saved." Leni said. "You're totes a hero!"
"We're so proud of you." Rita congratulated her son.
...
That night, in the streets just outside the Loud House, black goo bubbled up from the storm drain. More and more goo spilled onto the street. The goo formed into a mound that grew bigger and bigger. The blob of black goo then began to take shape. A body, arms legs and a head.
The goo slowly took the form of a man. The man wore a straw hat, yellow plaid shirt, and jeans with suspenders. In his hand he held a large scythe.
He looked at the Loud House from under his hat and muttered,
"It's harvesting time."
