Chapter 4: The surprise guest
The creature controlling the body of James Prawly returned home from taking care of business in the woods.
"James where have you been." James's wife asked.
"Taking out the trash." Prawly replied.
"Listen about our fight the other day." His wife said. "I'm sorry about calling you a parasite."
"Parasite?" Prawly said, a metal spike extending from his hand. "Lady you have no idea."
...
"MOM!" James's Daughter screamed when she saw her mother's body on the ground, and Prawly standing over her.
Prawly looked at the little girl and smiled. "Don't worry kid, it's going to be alright." Prawly moved in on the little girl.
...
It was a couple days into the summer now.
It was midafternoon and Lincoln was playing video games on the couch. The door bell rang.
"I'll get it!" Lincoln announced. He got up to answer the door.
The person on the other side of that door was not someone he expected to see.
"Surprise!" Said the visitor.
"Ronnie Anne?" Lincoln said. "I thought you were living in great lakes city now?"
"I am." Ronnie Anne said. "But me, my mom, and Bobby are going to stay in Royal Woods for the summer."
"Oh, why hasn't bobby told Lori about that?" Lincoln asked.
"We wanted to surprise you guys." Ronnie Anne said. "So wanna hang out?"
"Well I was going to hang out with another friend today." Lincoln said. "But you're welcome to tag along."
"Great!"
...
"My friend and I were going to meet at Gus's Games and Grub." Lincoln said as they reached the front door of the arcade.
They opened the door and walked inside.
"Oh, hey look my friends here." Lincoln said.
"really?" Ronnie Anne said. "I don't see Clyde anywhere."
"Oh, no this is a new friend." Lincoln explained. "Come on I'll introduce you!"
...
"Ronnie Anne, I'd like you to meet Stella." Lincoln introduced Ronnie Anne to the new girl who would be hanging with them.
"Oh..." Ronnie Anne said. "Your new friend's a girl?"
"Is that a problem?" Lincoln asked.
"Not at all." Ronnie Anne said, a twisted forced smile spread across her face. "I'm just sssooooo happy you made another... FEMALE friend."
Lincoln raised an eyebrow. "Well I'll let you two get acquainted. I have to pee."
"So, you're one of Lincoln's friends?" Stella said.
"Yeah, I used to go to school here." Ronnie Anne said. "Lincoln and I were, REALLY close. I'm sure he's told you a LOT about me."
"Actually, he hasn't really mentioned you." Stella said. "Ronnie Anne, right?"
"Oh, he hasn't?" Ronnie Anne said through gritted teeth, her eye twitching.
"Well it's a pleasure to meet you." Stella said.
"You too." Ronnie Anne growled.
"Do you have to go to the bathroom too?" Stella said. "You seem... distressed."
...
As Lincoln was in the bathroom, calmly doing his business he heard a voice.
"Lincoln." It was that same dark but calm voice he had heard in the woods.
"Who's there?" Lincoln asked.
...
Lincoln, Stella and Ronnie Anne sat down to eat some pizza.
"Hey Lincoln," Stella said. "I have an extra breadstick, you want it?"
"Sure, thanks Stella." Lincoln said.
"Yeah, well I have two extra breadsticks." Ronnie Anne said. "You want them?"
"Uh sure." Lincoln said. He noticed a news report on the tv about a boat being capsized in the ocean. "So, what do you guys think that's all about?'
"Probably a storm of some sort." Ronnie Anne said.
"I dunno." Stella said. "The news said not a cloud was seen in the sky."
"I dunno then..." Ronnie Anne said. "Godzilla?"
"Ronnie Anne are you ok?" Lincoln asked, "You seem agitated."
"Agitated? Who's agitated? I'm not agitated." Ronnie Anne said.
"This is starting to get a bit uncomfortable." Stella said, getting up from the table.
Ronnie Anne's cheeks grew red.
"Maybe a change of scenery would help." Lincoln suggested.
...
Lori sat on the couch scrolling through social media, when the doorbell rang.
Lori was filled with joy to see Bobby standing at the door, dressed more formally than usual, and holding a bouquet of flowers.
"Surprise Babe!" Bobby smiled.
"Boo Boo Bear!" Lori said. "You're back!"
"Yeah, my family and I are spending the summer in Royal Woods." Bobby explained.
...
Luan sat out in the back with her now boyfriend Benny.
"Hey Benny." Luan said. "Why is Peter Pan always flying?"
"Hmm..." Benny thought for a moment.
Luan opened her mouth to deliver the punch line, but her words were drowned out by the sound of a low flying helicopter.
"What the heck!" Benny said.
"Oh come on!" Luan said, irritated. "You ruined my punch line!"
Benny noticed Lisa running into the house.
"Hey Luan," Benny said. "Looks like the helicopters spooked your little sister."
The two fallowed Lisa inside as more black helicopters flew by.
...
Lisa rushed to her room and unlocked a safe containing some sort of alien looking device.
"Good you're safe." Lisa sighed with relief.
"Lisa what's going on?" Luan barged in. "Benny said you looked scared."
"Woah what is that?" benny said.
Lisa shut the safe. "NOTHING!"
"Lisa, you can trust us." Luan said. "We're family."
"Well Luan is anyway." Benny pointed out. "But I assure you I am TOTALLY trust worthy."
"Well just know that if for one second I think I can't trust you with this secret. I am going to have to kill you." Lisa warned.
Benny put his left hand on his chest and raised his right hand. "You have my word."
"Seriously!" Lisa added. "I have connections and WILL have you killed if I need to."
Luan and Benny gulped.
Lisa pulled out a red glowing device. It was round and the size of a baseball. The red light in the mechanical device pulsed.
"What is that?" Luan asked.
"I think it's some kind of..." Lisa said.
"AN ALIEN DEVICE!!!!" Benny loudly interrupted.
"Benny be quiet!" Luan warned. "You heard what Lisa said, she'll have us killed."
"Don't worry Luan." Benny said. "I already know a TON of top-secret information that I could be killed over."
"You do?" Luan said.
Benny draped his arm over his face, like a vampire's cape.
"Oh by the way I've cracked the code." Benny started to sing.
"Uhh... what's going on?" Lisa said.
"I've figured out these shadow organizations." Benny continued singing.
Then Benny jumped onto Lisa's table with an intense look on his face.
"And the Illuminati know,
They're finally primed, for world domination."
Then Benny jumped to the window and pointed out the black helicopters flying by.
"Soon you got black helicopters comin' cross the border.
Puppet masters for the new world order."
Then Benny popped up between Luan and Lisa.
"Be aware, there's always somebody that's watching you.
And still the government won't admit they faked the whole moon landing.
Though control rays, psychotronic scanning.
Don't mind that, I'm protected cause I where this hat."
Benny then placed a tinfoil hat on his head.
"And it's made from aluminum foil.
Wear a hat that's foil lined,
In case an alien's inclined, to probe your butt or read your mind.
Looks a bit peculiar.
Seems a little crazy,
But someday I'll prove, there's a big conspiracy."

Luan and Lisa looked at Benny speechless.
"Nice going Luan." Lisa said. "You're boyfriends a nut."
"I don't know "nut" you're talking about." Luan laughed. "That whole song just cracked me up. But seriously Lisa, I'm sure Benny was just joking about all that stuff." Luan's face got serious. "You... were joking, right Benny?"
"No, I was totally serious." Benny said with a straight face. "You... believe me don't you?"
"I... I don't know Benny" Luan said.
"You're not one of those idiots who thinks the earth is flat are you?" Lisa said.
"WHAT?!?!" Benny said. "Of course not! I've... actually seen the curve of the earth... when I was abducted by aliens."
"You were abducted by aliens?" Luan said.
"When I was about 8." Benny said. "I'd go into detail, but you've probably seen the whole thing play out in movies and on tv. You know the whole, blue light filling the room. Those creepy grey aliens that look like hairless people with big heads appear and take me up to their space ship."
"Did... did they hurt you?" Luan asked, not sure if she should believe him, yet also getting concerned.
"I... I don't like to talk about what happened on the ship." Benny said. "It was a great view though. The next day I just woke up in my front yard, still in my pajamas. To this day no one knows how I got out there. Neither of my parents saw or heard me get out of bed. That's... that's how I got into this conspiracy stuff."
"So, what is this thing you found Lisa?" Luan asked, changing the subject.
"Well I found it in the woods after that meteor shower" Lisa said. "In a creator."
"So, it did come from space." Luan said.
"Precisely." Lisa said. "Though that doesn't exactly mean it's alien."
"It could be some sort of Russian spy satellite." Benny suggested.
"What are those symbols?" Luan pointed out the strange symbols printed all over the device. "I've never seen anything like them. They sure don't look Russian."
"Maybe Japanese?" Benny said.
"I did a bit of research on those too." Lisa said, pushing her glasses further up her nose. "These symbols have not been seen in any of earth's history. They do however have elements of ancient Mayan, Aztec, and even Egyptian hieroglyphs. My theory is these symbols pre-date all of them."
"So... this device was made by the Dinosaurs?" Benny said.
"Don't be ridiculous Benjamin." Lisa said.
"Well this does point to the whole alien thing." Luan said.
"More disturbing is that this device seems to be sending some sort of signal." Lisa said.
"What kind of signal?" Luan said.
"My guess is it's some sort of beacon." Lisa said.
"A beacon for what?" Benny asked.
...
"Why are you acting so crazy Ronnie Anne!" Stella yelled.
Lincoln had brought the girls to a near by skate park, hoping it would make things less awkward.
It didn't.
"I'M NOT ACTING CRAZY!!!!" Ronnie Anne yelled.
"Oh, you're not?" Stella said. "Let's see, when you first met me you looked like you were about to explode. Then when I offered Lincoln an extra breadstick, you offered him two. And every move I do in this skatepark, you seem to copy, making sure Lincoln sees how much better you are at skating than I am."
"Well that's just because everything you can do I can do better." Ronnie Anne said
"You're not going to start singing, are you?" Stella asked.
"No, why the heck would I do that?" Ronnie Anne said.
"You like him, don't you?" Stella said.
"Huh?"
"You like Lincoln." Stella accused.
"Well of course I like him." Ronnie Anne said. "He's one of my best friends."
"No, I mean you LIKE, like him." Stella said.
"WHAT!" Ronnie Anne blurted out. "Of.. of course not."
Ronnie Anne's face became flush and she started to sweat "No.. Lincoln... He... He's Just a friend. Right Lincoln... Lincoln?"
Lincoln was kneeling on the ground, his hands clenched his hair, and his body rocked back and forth.
"LINCOLN!!!!" Ronnie Anne and Stella both yelled.
Lincoln could hear that ominous voice in his head, chanting in a language he did not understand. His vision started to turn red and mysterious symbols flashed in his eyes.
"Lincoln are you ok?" Ronnie Anne asked. "Stella call 911, I think he's having a panic attack."
Stella got out her phone. Ronnie Anne slowly approached Lincoln.
"Lincoln it's me Ronnie Anne." Ronnie Anne said softly. "It's going to be ok. Do you know where you are."
"R-royal woods skate park." Lincoln stuttered.
"Does he usually do this?" Stella asked as she got her phone out.
"This has never happened before. Not that I know of." Ronnie Anne said. "Lincoln is it ok if I touch you?"
Lincoln nodded.
Ronnie Anne tenderly held onto Lincoln's hand.
"Lincoln remind me? What was the latest Ace Savvy comic again?" Ronnie Anne asked a simple question to help get Lincoln back to reality.
"Th-the return of the Card Shark... I think." Lincoln responded.
"An ambulance is on it's way." Stella cut in.
"I-I GOTTA GO!" Lincoln pushed Ronnie Anne away and ran off into the distance.
"Lincoln wait!!!!" Ronnie Anne called out.
...
"Oh, Bobo bear I'm so happy to see you." Lori cooed.
"Oh, I have missed you so much Babe." Bobby said. "And I would like to express my love for you... in song."
"Ooo." Lori said. "How romantic."
Bobby cleared his throat. "I found a love, for me.
Darling just dive right in, and fallow..... Oooooffff!!!!"
Lincoln came bursting through the front door running over Bobby and Lori in the process.
"LINCOLN!!!!" Lori barked with rage. "Get back here you little twerp!"
Lori fallowed Lincoln up the stairs. Lincoln ran into his room and slammed the door shut.
"Lincoln get out here!" Lori yelled pounding on the door. "I am going to rip you limb from limb!!!!"
"Wow." Luna chimed in. "You usually threaten to turn him into a human pretzel."
"Yeah well that threat was getting old." Lori replied. "You have to mix it up a little if you want people to take you seriously."
"What's going on?" Luan poked her head out of Lisa's room.
"Lincoln's being a little jerk is what's going on!" Lori said as she returned to pounding on the door.
Just as Bobby got to his feet, Ronnie Anne and Stella burst through the door knocking Bobby back to the floor.
"Ouch!" Bobby moaned.
"Guys! Something is wrong with Lincoln!" Ronnie Anne announced as she reached the top of the stair case.
"Something is GOING to be wrong with him!" Lori yelled. "You don't just barge in like that and interrupt people's songs!"
"I think my ribs are broken!" Bobby called out.
Lori managed to break the door open. The siblings all gasped in horror at what was inside.
Lincoln sat pretzel legged in the middle of the room, his back to them. Lincoln had found a red marker and colored all over the walls. The same symbols on the device Lisa had found, along with the words
"The Red King is coming." Written over and over again.
Lincoln turned to look at them, a crazed look in his eyes.
In a soft yet somehow crazy voice, he uttered, "He would like a word with us."
