Chapter Ten

A/N So excited for this chapter!!! I've been waiting since the beginning of this book!!! SPITFIRE TIME, Y'ALL!!! (It's the same as Cheshroy's appearance in Targets... I'm creative, but not enough to come up with another idea. I guess it's hard to beat perfection.) P.S. No first day of school parts.

"Kid Flash to Red Arrow," KF said into his earpiece.

"Whatcha need?" Red asked.

"The exact height of the League of Shadows' assassin, Nyx."

Roy searched through the League database. "She's 5'4.2" and extremely dangerous. You're completely sure that you don't need backup?"

"Yep," Wally said with cheerful confidence. He searched though the crowd, using his high tech sunglasses to find a woman of that height. Green circle, green circle, green, green, green, green, green, red. The red circle was around the face of a blonde teen behind a stand. Wally's eyes widened in surprise, he'd thought that she was an adult.

He looked away for a few minutes, distracted by the oncoming arbitrator's limo. Suddenly a missile shot through the air. People started screaming. Nyx flipped off of the roof of the stand, landing perfectly on the ground. A security guard grabbed her, but she easily fought him and his reinforcements off. Wally ran up the wall of the building, launched off, and managed to deactivate it.

He sped around the Shadow, but she managed to time where he was, and leaped out of the area where he had had her surrounded. He quickly came up with a solution. He lunged and tackled her to the ground. She flipped them around so she was straddling him. All of a sudden, they were surrounded by armed guards. Nyx clearly knew that she was beat; she raised her hands in surrender.

The guards yanked Nyx off of him, and cuffed her hands, taking off her mask. She looked eerily familiar, but he couldn't place from where. Wally stood up, rubbing his wrists. He looked over at the limo, and his eyes widened in absolute shock. The unknown arbitrator was... Lex Luthor?!

-few minute time skip brought to you by the YJ theme-

A guard pushed Nyx into a cop car, and slammed the door. The girl leaned back and smirked; she seemed to be completely unfazed by the turn of events. Lex's secretary, Mercy, hung up her call and nodded.

"We have confirmation," Said Luthor. "This one is the Flash's little sidekick, Kid Flash."

'See, if Lex Luthor can get my name right, why can't most people?' Wally couldn't help but think.

"He must be questioned," One of the guards said.

''Lex Luthor vouches for him, Captain," Luthor said. "Release the sidekick." The captain did as he was told.

"Really prefer the term protégé," KF muttered. Then he said louder, "I don't need your help."

"Oh, I didn't know that you wished to join the young lady behind bars."

"You may have everyone else here fooled, but I know what you are, Luthor."

"Oh, don't pretend to be an angel. But it just so happens that this time, I'm on the side of the angels." He walked into the building, and KF followed him. Inside, the north and south ambassadors were arguing.

"Why should either side trust you?" Wally asked the villain.

"Because LexCorps is a peaceful enterprise for all humanity."

"Cut the act Luthor. I have evidence that links you to weapon sales to both Rhelasias. You're profiting from this war. So why do you want it to end?"

"The money made from war is pocket change compared to the amount to be made in an investment in a united Rhelasia. And isn't it better to have peace, even if that scoundrel Lex Luthor profits from it?"

Wally made a sound of disgust.

-Time skip-

"So... you gonna ask me anything?" Nyx asked, stretching. Her thick blonde hair had been washed free of the temporary glittery navy dye, and now poured over her shoulders, flowing wildly all the way down her back. "Or are you just gonna stand there?"

"I think you what I want." Wally said. He was still wondering why he had decided to do Lex Luthor a favor.

"I do, actually. Do you?" She lifted her leg over her head, a move that reminded Wally of a dancer.

"Who hired you?"

"Shadows."

"Who hired them?"

Artemis shrugged. "Dunno. I didn't ask. You know how the expression goes. Curiosity killed the cat."

"What's the endgame? Luthor, or the peace summit?"

"Two birds," The girl's hands had been together over her head for the last few seconds as she stretched. Now, she whipped around to face Wally, bringing her hands down into a finger gun. "One stone." Then, in a perkier voice she said, "Hey, where are your little sidekick friends? They're fun to play with. Especially J-Cheshire. I really like her."

"Not here."

"What, do you think I'm in your league?" Arty asked. She grabbed the front of his shirt, and pulled him towards her, so that they were pressed up against either side of the bars. Her gray almond-shaped eyes met his big emerald green ones. She tilted her head. "Where's your hero pals when you really need them?"

"I don't."

"Ya sure 'bout that?" She slipped her olive hand behind his head, running it over his ginger hair. She pulled his face towards hers slightly. Then, she released him and dropped into a crouch, grabbing the cell's bars with both hands.

"Oh, no," Wally said.

BOOM! An explosion shook the building and blasted a hole in the wall. An alarm sounded. Smoke and dust was everywhere. Wally coughed, trying to get it out of his lungs. Through the smoke, he could vaguely make out Nyx on the floor, coughing into her fist. She looked up and saw Sportsmaster. "Of course it's you," She said angrily.

"Beggars can't be choosers, Baby Girl," Sportsy said. "Coming?" He slid down the rope. Artemis glanced towards Wally, debating whether to go with her father or stay. In the end, she choose to follow her father down the rope as the smoke cleared.

Wally was confused. 'Baby girl?' He thought. 'Isn't that a nickname for a daughter or niece or  something?' He decided he must have heard it wrong. He'd probably said Girly Girl. That's what Wally had heard him call M'gann and Jade. Then his senses kicked in. He ran after the two Shadows.

He easily caught up to them. "I admire persistence, but..." Nyx said, throwing a  explosive shuriken at him. He dodged it. The two Shadows jumped into the waiting helicopter.

"Go, go, go!" Sportsmaster yelled. The copter took off. Wally just managed to throw a shuriken of his own with a tracker before it went out of his reach. He used his superspeed to follow the copter. The tracker had been for emergencies.

-quite a while later-

"I can't believe that when I finally get a break from you, I have to put up with you again." Nyx growled at Sportsmaster as they stood outside the Shadow's base.

The man just rolled his eyes. "Trust me, I'd love a good break from you, too."

"At least that's something that we can agree on."

Wally watched them from a parapet. He couldn't help but notice the hate in both of their voices.

"My goal was to create strife between nations. Not my assassins," Ra's al Ghul said as he walked out in front of them.

"Strife was already there," Artemis muttered.

"What was that?" Al Ghul asked.

"Nothing. My apologies, Master."

"Forgiven, client. Now, get rid of that boy." He looked directly at Wally.

The two assassins followed his gaze.

"Oh, sh**." Wally leaped down a couple feet to the main wall. Nyx leaped up, launching off a couple things and landed a few yards him. She fired a bolt from her crossbow at him. He dodged it, ran up to her, and threw a punch. Artemis barely managed to move out of the way. She started throwing punches in return. They both managed to land a few blows before a certain Sportsmaster showed up. Wally was forced to back up to the edge, over the water.

The two villains walked towards him. Nyx waved at him, crossbow in hand. Sportsmaster threw one of his javelins at him, knocking him off the edge. Sportsy threw another one down after him.

Wally landed in the water, and the javelin exploded just a few yards above him. Sportsmaster looked at the water for a few seconds and then walked away. Nyx walked to the edge and looked down, then at her father, and then down again. Then she walked away.

Wally broke up at the surface of the water, gasping. He pressed his earpiece. "Roy?"

"Yeah?"

"It's possible that I might need backup."

-an hour or so later-

"The Shadows want you dead. Including Ra's al Ghul. Maybe I should let you take each other out. " Wally told Luthor.

"That was a cute stab a pragmatism. But we need me alive. You remember the peace summit? Increase security."

-Even more time later-

Luthor interrupted the ambassadors's  argument. "You might have many differences, but you still have many similarities. Including the exquisite art of the Rhelasian tea ceremony."

An ebony teen pushed a cart towards them. "That is far enough, Nyx," Red Arrow said, nocking  an arrow. There were gasps and screams from the suddenly panicked crowd.

"You and I have very different opinions, Speedy." Nyx said. She pushed a button on the cart's handle and shoved the cart towards him. Roy forced it out of the way with a kick. It slammed into the wall, blasting a hole in the side of the building.

"It's over, Nyx," Wally said.

"It sure seems that way, doesn't it?" Artemis replied with a self-satisfied smirk. A helicopter with Sportsmaster and a few thugs appeared behind the hole in the wall. They jumped in.

"You take Sportsy," Wally said. "I've got Nyx."

Nyx smiled. "It's only our third date. Gosh, you're an overprotective one, aren't you?" Wally rolled his eyes at her comment. Roy flipped over Nyx, and Wally started fighting her.

The fight went on for a while. "You're actually a pretty decent fighter, Red Arrow," Sportsmaster said. "Better than you were in Bialya."

"How do you know about Bialya?"

"Let's just say I have an inside source. Very inside."

Finally the fight, with some help from Mercy, who turned out to be a robot. Of course, Lex got all of the credit.

"I cannot believe that we just did a solid for Lex Luthor." Wally said with a shake of his head. "You gonna tell Aqualad what Sportsy told you?"

"Yeah. Now, let's go home."

"Yep." And so they went.
