Chap 21 Hania's Plan

Several days have passed and the Sikander family was living like how normal families live.

Minhaaj was working on a project and was staying in his study room for one week. He went out to work in the morning as today was no lecture at his university.

Dadi Jaan was praying the whole day and watching her favorite dramas at the night.

Hanan was also going in and out in Sikander's house mostly when Minhaaj was not present. And these small encounters have been changing Hania slowly but steadily.

Although she didn't take a step out of the house, her personality was coming back a Lil.

She was trying hard to mend her relationship with Dadi Jaan but the death of her mother in front of her eyes was not letting her open up.

She was scribbling something on her notebook when Dadi Jaan knocked at her door.

Hania beta (daughter)! Are you busy? She asked politely as she was not expecting much from her.

No, I'm not. Just three words came out of her mouth with a forced smile.

Can you check my sugar and blood pressure? I don't know but today I'm not feeling well. Minu is not in the house that's why I thought I should come to you for help as my eyesight is very weak.

Dadi Jaan was feeling dizzy since the morning but she didn't tell Minhaaj because she knew he was busy with his work. And she doesn't want to put her burden on that poor boy's shoulder. He had already done much for Dadi Jaan that her children couldn't even able to do for her.

They even throw her out of their houses after getting the money that Dadi Jaan's husband left. Minhaaj was there for her in the worst.

Listening that Dadi Jaan was not feeling well Hania become tensed.

"Dadi Jaan please sit here. Let me get the equipment from your room." She ran in haste towards her room and came back at the same speed because Dadi Jaan was not looking well.

She checked the blood pressure it was 70/40. It was quite low which could endanger her life too.

Hania took the blood drop on the sugar machine strip and to her surprise, the sugar level was also down.

She gave Dadi Jaan lots of sweet things but still either was not coming up.

Hania unlocked her phone to call Minhaaj but saw his message that he would be out of reach as he would be doing some important work.

This makes Hania more anxious as she couldn't step out of the house. And there was no one she could call for help.

Her best friend Fatima's name popped into her mind but soon she remembered that she went out of town because of some VIP surgery.

She was walking here and there in nervousness when someone ranged the bell of their house.
She quickly ambled and opened the door thinking it might be Minhaaj.

"Asalam-o-Alaikum! Miss Hania can I meet Dadi Jaan? I have to give her some medicines which she as-"

Hanan words stuck in his mouth when he saw Hania's face. Her face was wet and pale. Those crystal drops were coming out like a river but she didn't even know that she was sobbing.

Things in his hands fell on the entrance.

"What happen? Why are you crying?" Hanan felt something was not right.

H-Han... She shook her head.

No, S-Shahreyar. Dadi Jaan is not well. Minu is not...at home. Please help my Dadi Jaan. I-I can't live without her. She and Minu are the only ones left in my family. She stuttered but finished her sentence.

Calm down Hania. She will be alright. Where is she? Let's take her to the hospital. He grabbed both her shoulders firmly giving her assurance that nothing would go the wrong way.

Hania just nodded and took him towards her room. Dadi Jaan was lying down on her bed with her eyes close.

Hania felt like someone threw her heart out of the window.

Hanan hastily strode towards the bed and immediately searched her pulse. It was slow but was there.

Dadi Jaan opened half eyes and glanced towards her with a Lil smile. Hania felt like nostalgia hit her again.

The fate was repeating itself. Her mother did the same when the truck hit her. She opened her half eyes and smiled towards her. She was drenched in sweat.

Hanan took her in his hands and walked out of the room shouting at Hania that to follow him.

Hania was standing there like someone had glued her feet right there. She was continuously staring in the bed's direction.

Hanan put Dadi Jaan in the back seat and turned back to see that Hania was not behind him.

He ambled inside the house, grabbed her hand, and dragged her with him. They were on the road to the hospital and Hania was sitting very still like her body was in the car but she was mentally not present.

Hanan knew that the trauma of her mother's death was coming back so to change her mind he spoke up.

Miss Hania don't worry. She is alright. I checked her pulse and it was back to normal. I'm just taking her to the hospital for a Lil check-up. Hanan peeks at her.

She was not responding. Like she was in another dimension.

Miss Hania! Hanan shook her shoulder that brings her back a Lil into life.

I'm talking to you, Miss Hania? Are you alright? Concern was dripping from his tone.

With each blink, the tears cascade down from her eyes. She glanced towards him with an expressionless face.

Well, it's rude to stare at someone with that look and not to reply Miss Hania. Hanan was trying to divert her attention.

I'm sorry. A muffled voice came out while her gaze goes down with it.

Hanan didn't know how to reply when she said sorry in such a cute way.

She glances back where Dadi Jaan was sitting with a seat belt on. She was looking at them with half-open eyes.

Dadi Jaan are you alright? Hania uttered instantly.

She just nodded a Lil. Soon they were in the hospital and the doctor was examining Dadi Jaan's health.

Hania was biting her lower lip in anxiousness. Dadi Jaan was a bit better when they took her into the room but still, she was not in the best condition.

Hanan was filling the form as he knew that Hania couldn't talk to a stranger. He even paid the bill and bought a coffee with a sandwich.

He sat near her who was now biting her nails.

"Miss Hania don't you think you're old enough not to do this." He pointed towards her mouth and let out an awkward laugh.

Hania noticed that her nails were too short to even bite now. And she felt embarrassed about what Hanan said. She turned her face to the opposite side to feel less embarrassed.

In the middle of their conversation, the doctor came out from the examination room.

Who is with Rafia Sikander? Hearing her Dadi Jaan's name Hania stood up in haste.

Yes, I'm with her. How is she now? Nothing's wrong, right.

Yes! Yes! She is alright you don't need to worry about her. You just need to give her a proper diet and she will healthy again. She is on the IV of glucose. We will discharge her if the reports came out good. For now nothing is serious. She is sleeping right now. We will shift her to the ward but if you want a private room please fill this form.

He brought the form in front of her and suddenly all the fear which was resting in the corner of her mind came running out to the front.

Her hands started to quiver and she started to sweating immensely in no time.

Hanan intertwined his hand in hers and glanced at her with his enticing smile.

Don't worry I'm here. Just stick close to me. He whispered near her ear.

Hania felt like she came into a secure circle. All the terror and fear she was feeling flew away with only a hand and smile.

Hanan took the form and told him that he already booked the private room and that they will shift Dadi Jaan there. The doctor nodded and went back to the room.

They took Dadi Jaan in the private room. Hania was sticking close to him as someone glued her with him until the nurses and doctor left the room. She immediately steps away when only those three were left in the room.

Dadi Jaan was sleeping and Hania was sitting on the stool near Dadi Jaan's bed.

Hanan was sitting on the couch with adoration for her in his eyes.

She used to be so brave that she even worked with him who was known as a Monster doctor in the whole city. No one liked to work with Hanan but she was the only one who was standing with him without any fear.
But now everything changed. A mishap happened and she took the 360 degree angle change in her personality. She was not the Hania he knew 9 years ago. A weary smile came on his lips.

Hanan cleared his throats and asked something.

Ahm! Miss Hania if you don't mind could you please tell me who is this Hanan guy? And why you always call me by that name? He really wanted to ask this question because he disguised himself as someone different from Hanan. He even changed his voice when he met Hania then how could she guessed so perfectly.

Hania looked towards him with a Lil smile.

He is the man I love wholeheartedly. She blinked and spewed out innocently with her elegant smile.

Hanan felt like he would die millions of times just to see that smile on her face again.

But-

She paused.

He left me alone like others do. She glanced down at the hands which were resting in her lap.

Hanan felt a throbbing pain in his whole body.

Maybe that's why I'm trying to find him in everyone. She looked up again with a weary smile.

Hanan was on the edge of hugging her and telling her that he never left her but he stopped himself because today is not the right time.

"Oh! So you're betrayed in love. Then why are you searching him in everyone?" He also wanna know that if she thinks that he left her then why didn't she move on.

I'm not betrayed in love. I'm just left on the edge of cliff. On the one side, there is a deep ditch and on the other side, there is a deep well. So I'm searching him to find where should I go. The ditch or the well.

Those words shattered his heart millions of times.

"Miss Hania, maybe I'm not the person you're looking for but I want to give you advice. That guy left you on the edge of cliff right then he was never a good and trustworthy person. Try to look around that cliff maybe another person is standing in front of you with a hand to hold on to."

Hanan tried to show her the silver lining of the clouds but he didn't know the thunder clouds have already taken the place.

Mr. Shahreyar would you help me to give him a message for the last time. If you met him tell him that:

تیری مشکل نہ بڑھاوں گا
چلا جاوں گا
اشک آنکھوں میں چھپاوں گا
چلا جاوں گا
آپنی دہلیز پہ کچھ دیر پڑا رہنے دے
جیسے ہی ہوش میں آو ں گا
چلا جاوں گا

(I'll not increase your difficulty
And will go far away
I'll hide my tears in my eyes
And will go far away
Leave me on your doorstep for a while
As soon as i wake up
I'll go far away)

This was the last poem he wrote to Hania. Lil did he know he would listen to it back in this situation.

His eyes become wet but he turned his face on the opposite side not to get caught by her but he forgot that she was Hania.

She deliberately read this poem for him to get a reaction. And to confirm whether he was Hanan or not. The conclusion was what she was expecting from the start.

He was definitely Hanan. Why? Because it was his habit that to hide his teary eyes he always turned his face to the left side acting as something went into his eyes.

She smiled with tears in her eyes wholeheartedly as she finally found him. Even though she knows that no man would accept a girl like her but still, she would go to any limit if it's Hanan standing in front of her with a hand to hold on to.

And about your advice Mr. Shahreyar, I will keep that in my mind. Moving her head to a Lil left side she asserted with a smile.

Hanan wanted all her anger and frustration to come out but the way she was behaving was something he didn't expect.

It was a harsh treatment she was giving to him with sugar-coated words.

After that, they didn't talk to each other.
Dadi Jaan woke up around 10 pm. The doctor discharged her because it was nothing serious just a Lil weakness.

The doctor gave the whole chart of diet to Hania and they went back home. After letting Dadi Jaan rest in her room Hanan was about to take his leave when Hania spoke up.

Mr. Shahreyar please stay for a while. You haven't eaten anything since morning. Let me cook for you.

It's okay Miss Hania I'm not that much hungry. And right there his tummy growled.

Hanan drops down his head in embarrassment while Hania tried to suppress her laugh by putting a hand over her mouth.

Sit down at the dining table and give me 15 minutes. I'm sure you will give me time to thank you properly for saving my Dadi Jaan's life.

Hania left him there and started heating the food. Hanan couldn't able to say NO because he was hungry too.

The table was set and both were eating in silence. Only the forks and knives sound could hear.

Mr. Shahreyar you worked as a professor at LUMS university, right? She threw the net to capture him.

Hanan didn't understand why she was bringing this up.

Yes, but why are you asking?

I use to be a children's doctor but because of some brutal incidents, I have to leave this profession. But now I'm thinking to go back to the things which I use to love. So to do that I need a teacher who could help me out.

These words make Hanan so happy. The hospital conversation was a success that's what he thoughts but something different was going on in her mind. He was always a fool in Hania's case.

That's great to hear. Do you need my help? He asked directly.

Well only if you're available. I don't want to put you in a tough spot.

She feigned innocence on her face but inside something was going on.

Don't worry Miss Hania I have time on weekends. You can take my classes then.
He stepped into her trap.

Can I ask for another favor from you? Please don't tell Minhaaj about it. I wanted to give him a surprise.

Hanan nodded and start eating where he left.
After leaving for his house Hania came into her room. She was staring in Hanan's house direction from her window.

You left me all alone when I needed you the most. All those promises were empty pitchers. Only if you come on time that day my family would be here with me. I hate you, Hanan. I will never forgive you.

The tears were sliding down and her voice was becoming hoarse. Just what happened that day only Hania, Hanan, and their Allah know.
