Chapter 4
I awoke to knocking on the bedroom door. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the soft body that was now cuddled into the crook of my arm. She didn't even realize what she was doing and I smirked, almost wanting to pinch her little pointy nose. The knocking grew a little louder but still hesitant. I slowly unraveled myself away from Aella, making sure to tie the rope to the bed and headed toward the door.
When I opened it, I saw it was Major Nixon. He wore an emotionless face and didn't glance inside the room. I quickly stepped out and closed the door behind me.
"What is it, Major?"
"There is a female downstairs that is going livid. She wants to see her sister." He said.
"Ok, then take her to go see her sister." I said not sure where the problem was.
"What I mean is that the female downstairs wants to see her sister who is the Alpha." He responded and it dawned on me that it was Aella's sister.
I nodded my understanding. "Give me a few moments and I will be down."
After dressing in a black sleeveless tank top and grey sweats, I headed downstairs toward the noise. When the young female saw me, her eyes turned murderous. She marched over to me and slapped me across the face. A growl left my lips as I turned back to look at her.
"Don't you growl at me." She shouted. "Where is my sister?"
Major Nixon moved to grab a hold of the crazy female. She tried shaking Nixon off. I rubbed my cheek from the sting.
"She's in her bed, sleeping." I said.
Her eyes narrowed into slits as her lips curled up into disgust. "You didn't do anything to her, did you?"
"It's not what I did to her; it is what she did to me." I smirked. She snarled as she tried launching for my throat. The sound of bare feet padding on the floor turned my head. I saw Aella running towards the stairs. She must've woken up, undone the rope and untied the tank top I had around her legs.
Sneaky female Alpha. She's smart though. I will give her that.
"Aella!" The female shouted as she struggled harder. "Let me go!"
"Isa!" Aella shouted as she reached the landing and came running towards her sister. I quickly grabbed her around the waist and pulled her up against me.
"Not so fast, whirlwind." I murmured closely to her ear.
"Let me go!" She tried to push my arms away. I held on tighter. "She's my sister."
"Then I suggest you listen to what I have to say or I will have my major get rid of her."
Aella stopped her movements. Her body now nicely molded on mine. I could feel the heat of her back on every inch of my front. It was god damn distracting.
"What is it that you want?" She growled.
"You were naughty, Aella. You were supposed to remain in bed until I came back. I did not give you permission to untie yourself." I said as my lips trailed up her neck to her ear. She shivered.
"Let her go, you nasty asshole." Isa demanded.
My arms moved around until I was holding her arms tightly inside mine. Her upper body completely trapped. I nodded for a soldier to come over.
"Go and get me some handcuffs." I ordered.
The soldier nodded and quickly left. Shortly after he came back and handed a handcuff to me. I took it before turning to whisper closely in Aella's ear.
"Nothing funny, do you understand?"
She nodded and I opened one handcuff and placed it around her wrist and the other placed around my wrist. She looked up in surprise as I did that. I wasn't sure why I decided to cuff my hand but I didn't want her to be far from me. I stuffed the keys into my pocket.
"Go on." I waved my hand toward her sister. Aella glared at me before moving toward her sister where she threw her arms around her.
Major Nixon stood nearby watching.
Isa pulled back and touched Aella's face gently. "I hope he didn't hurt you. Did he hurt you?"
She threw me a death glare before turning back to Aella. Aella shook her head before tugging on her arm hard which in turn sent my arm flying up toward the way she tugged. A smug grin came on her face.
Isa pulled back to frown at me. I knew what she wanted to know and I wasn't sure if having her Isa here was a good idea. Two sisters who are close to each other are hard to handle. I remember Patience and Kailyn—they both sent two Alphas after them because they couldn't stay inside a pack house to talk. They had to talk in the woods. Females are complicated creatures.
"Why are you here, General? What is it that you want?" Isa asked as she walked up close to me. Her coppery eyes were flaring in rebelliousness. They are definitely sisters. The way they look at you can make a male feel even uncomfortable under their gaze.
"This conversation is best taken somewhere private." I said.
Aella and Isa were hesitant but eventually nodded. Nixon followed us as Aella led us up the steps back to her floor where she took us to a door opposite from her bedroom.
When we got inside she turned around to look at us. "This is my office. It is sound proof and you should be able to talk freely."
Aella turned to me. The inquisitiveness glinting in her eyes told me she was also dying to know. I pulled Aella back to my side, just in case she gets any crazy ideas before I spoke. My eyes remained on hers as I did.
"The law states only males can rule as Alpha. Alpha Aella has committed a crime and should've been punished immediately. However, the Alpha King is going to be lenient this time. I am here to-" I started. There were many emotions that crossed Aella's eyes. One of them I saw was vulnerability before it quickly masked into defiance. She wasn't going to back down without a fight and something inside of my heart lit up with pride.
"I'm going to stop you right there." Isa interrupted me. My eyes moved to Isa. "My sister is more than capable of handling a pack."
"I understand." I replied. "But the law is put in place for a reason. It is to establish order within a group of supernatural wolves."
"You won't be able to replace me as Alpha. I took the place fair in square. This is my pack." Aella stated, trying to pull away from me. I wrapped my free arm around her body, pulling her front flush against mine.
"I know, whirlwind, I know." I said lowly. She stopped talking, her mouth slightly pouting as she looked up at me. "But we can't have you ruling, it will break order-"
"Do you always follow orders, General?" She asked and then her eyes moved to Nixon. "What about you? Do you always follow orders?"
"We are soldiers, Alpha Aella." Major Nixon replied. "We are required to follow orders."
She nodded before looking up at me. "Even if you don't believe in it, you will still follow it? Doesn't that make you a hypocrite?"
I clenched my jaw. "No."
"But you are. If you said I am more than capable then why can't I rule? Why does it have to be a male?" She questioned further and tried to push away from my chest. I tightened my arms around her. The feel of her soft body against mine was soothing to me. It kept me from letting go of my rage.
If it was anybody else who said what she said, they would've been dead before they could say their next words.
"Aella." I started. "Stop struggling against me."
"It's Alpha Aella, to you." She growled.
A lopsided grin came on my face. "But I like Aella."
"You need to stop harassing my sister!" Isa sneered as she came forward to help her sister out of my grasp. I nodded at Nixon who came to my aid by grabbing the sister and pulling her back.
"Are you two going to behave or do I have to lock one of you up?" I asked. Aella stopped struggling to glare at me.
"You wouldn't dare."
"Try me, whirlwind. We will see just how well I follow my own words." I taunted.
"General, if me ruling as Alpha has stirred up a disruption in the law, then all I ask for is a fair fight for those who thinks they can rule in my place, fight me, and if they win, they can become Alpha." Aella stated. "Otherwise, I am staying as Alpha."
I moved to rub her cheek with my fingers, the rosiness of it was distracting and I wondered how a simple can color of the cheek being absolutely adorable on such honey-like skin. The truth as I looked at her was I admired her act of bravery. I admired her logic and her radical decisions. If there were no such laws in place, I know for a fact that she will be a great Alpha.
What she said, I admit was completely true. I was a hypocrite but I am a soldier. The law surpasses what I believe in. If I don't follow these rules, my life will be in the slums. I follow even my own rules. Never again will I allow myself to find the true meaning of a bond, never again would I seek love, never again will I ever find comfort in a mate.
I sighed deeply, "If that is what you want, Aella. I will give you that chance."
Her eyes faltered a little as she didn't expect me to give in so quickly. I smiled smugly as I thought I quite enjoyed that look on her face. It quickly masked back into an emotionless look.
"Thank you." She whispered.
"Well then, it's settled, eh? Who wants to become Alpha?" Isa clapped her hands in front of her. Her eyes glinting mischievously.
Before anybody could answer, I pulled Aella away and started walking out of the room. Isa shouted from the room asking where I was taking her sister.
"We are going for a walk." I replied as her and I walked down the steps.
Now that she has answered my questions, I have some of mine that she needed to answer as well. The first one was where the hell her mate was.
We walked deeper into the woods until we reached a small clearing. The sun shining down nicely as we walked to the middle of the field. She stomped behind me as she tried catch up to my large strides. When I stopped, she hit my back, stumbling back until I grabbed her arm to prevent her from falling.
"Can you walk with your eyes open?" I asked.
She glowered as she spoke, "If you weren't walking so fast, then I wouldn't be struggling to catch up."
I smirked as I straightened her up and then walked us over to sit by a log. I was about to ask her the one question that has been eating away in my mind when out of the corner of my eyes I saw two wolves approaching us. By the power aura that I feel from them, they were an Alpha and a Beta.
