Chapter 1: The Shrine
Pit's POV
I walked into the temple's training hall. The silver and pale white walls were familiar now. As I sat down, I thought to myself. If this were a dream, when will I ever wake up?
However, it's not a dream.
I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Pit. I am the captain of the guard of the Goddess of Light Palutena. I can't fly on my own, ironic for an angel. At least, I couldn't until a few months ago when the power of the Wings of Pegasus allowed me to fly properly. However, soon after, Lady Palutena and Viridi, the Goddess of Nature, had their souls taken by the Chaos Kin. Little is known about the Chaos Kin, but it steals others souls and consumes them in the Chaos Vortex. Disturbing, I know. I felt that way too. I'm getting off track here. So with my dark self, Dark Pit aka Pittoo, the Lightning Flash, Phosphora, the mercenaries Magnus and Gaol and two girls - Nene and Molly - we met the Lunar Goddess, Artemis, who is helping us in the war against the Chaos Kin.
Phosphora walked up to me.
"Hey, Pit." She smiled at me. I turned and smiled back.
"Hey. You here to join me for training?"
"No," she replied. "You know, I thought you'd be here for food. I'm worried. You don't eat as much as before, and you want to train. Even Dark Pit is concerned." I turned away.
"You don't need to worry about me. I'm just preparing for the battles ahead." I took out a necklace with a piece of pale white moonstone in the middle. "I... I wanted to give you this. As thanks for saving me that one time. I don't want you to worry. I'll be fine." I looked at the moonstone crystal, then blushed as I gave it to her. Phosphora's eyes lit up as her cheeks went as red as a Monoeye's skin. She pushed some blonde hair away from her face as she clutched it.
"It's so beautiful," she whispered. She leaned towards me, then zapped me with a small lightning bolt.
"OW!" I yelped. "What was that for, Phosphora?!"
"That was for almost killing yourself that one time. I should tell you that you scared me halfway to the Underworld!"
"That was five months ago, Phos--" Before I could finish, she kissed me on the cheek. My eyes widened and I blushed to the point where I was redder than a tomato. She stifled a laugh at my reaction.
"That was for one: being so cute, and two: for saving my life on a couple occasions." She walked away, leaving me still stunned.
Phosphora's POV
As I walked to meet up with Nene and Molly, I heard someone say my name.
"Hey, Phosphora!" I saw Pit looking back at me, the unusual look in his eyes sending a chill down my spine.
"Pit? Weren't you just in the training hall?"
"I wanted to warn you. A monster has entered the temple."
"Where is it?" I asked, taking out my bow. The chill got stronger.
"Right behind you." I whipped around to see "Pit" changing. A single red eye with a yellow sclera opened on its chest. Its arms became shadow tentacle-like appendages, and its wings became similar to the Chaos Kin's gooey green ones, and it turned a darker color, almost black.
"Seriously? This is what you've resorted to, Chaos Kin?!" I launched a lightning bolt in its direction, but it reduced itself to ash, split, then reconstructed its body.
"I'm not the Chaos Kin. Just its top general among the Shadow Angels."
--------------------------------------------------------
Later, I was sparring with Pittoo against Nene and Molly, Artemis' students. The blades of Lady Palutena's Bow and the Silver Bow clashed with those of the Night Blade and Hunter Claws, the younger one's blue eyes staring back at Pittoo's mahogany ones, and the older one's brown eyes at my blue ones. We pushed each other back.
"I think that's enough for now," I said, reconnecting the swords to form a blue bow with a golden rim.
"Thank you for letting us train with you," Molly told me gratefully.
"Just let me know when we can do the next round." They nodded, bowed, then jolted up all of a sudden.
"Do you feel something?" Nene asked. I nodded, then she looked at me. Specifically, at my right eye. "Pit, you know that your right eye's glowing, right? Same with Dark Pit's left?"
"It has been bothering me for a while," I replied. Suddenly, we heard rapid gunshots outside. We ran into the courtyard to see a woman, over 20 years old and in a strange skintight piece of clothing, fighting some Shadow Angels. She then charged, kicking the last Shadow Angel and shooting it with a strange blue gun on her foot.
"You would think that this would be around the level of Affinities," she sighed, her strong accent revealing itself in her voice. "They're definitely not demons of Inferno or angels of Paradiso." She turned to see me. "Hm. Looks like two commanders among the grunts." She raised her guns. "Let's dance, boys!" I pulled out my bow, looking at her better now. The foot guns were attached to her high heels, and her short hair was similar to a pixie cut.
"Look, I don't wanna fight you," I protested.
"Yet you took out your bow," Pittoo replied.
"She's got guns and obviously knows how to use them. And she's pointing them at us! That's a perfect reason to get my bow out!" I shot back. We jumped out of the way of two shots, but the woman just sent a wave of bullets at us. I shot a blue arrow, stopping her shooting. How much ammo did she have in those guns anyway?!
"Impressive." The woman grinned then raised her hand in the air. "Let's see if you can handle this! Say hello to my friend! AVAVAGO!" Her hair and the dark color of her clothes formed a vortex, and a black dragon head came out of it. It roared deafeningly. We flew out of the way as it snapped, but it just came further out of the vortex and lunged at us. I barrel-rolled away and used Arrow Storm to force it to stop. The dragon then retreated back into the vortex. "Drat. Can't summon him for very long. You know, you make me think of my friend Jeanne." The woman smiled as she walked towards me, her attire's color returning. "Perhaps I should introduce myself. Or should you go first?"
"Ladies first," I insisted.
"You're too nice, Pit," Pittoo scoffed.
"No, I like to meet a gentleman," the woman replied. "Call me Cereza. Or Bayonetta. Whichever one you prefer. I'm not from around here."
"I'm Pit, captain of the personal guard of the Goddess of Light," I replied.
"I'm Dark Pit, commander of the Forces of Nature," Pittoo said as he uncrossed his arms.
"It's a pleasure, Pit and Dark Pit. Well then, I must be off. Farewell." With that, she jumped into a portal that vanished behind her, leaving no trace.
"That was weird," Pittoo muttered. Suddenly, the right side of my head pounded with pain as a light blinded my vision. I squinted to see a white-haired robed man in front of me, his blue eyes reflecting kindness.
"An enemy shall lure her in, angel," he said in an accent similar to Bayonetta's.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I am Balder, a Lumen Sage who was corrupted long ago but also a year ago. It can be quite confusing. But I am here to ask a favor of you and your dark counterpart. Protect our daughter. Protect Cereza." With that, a light poured into me as Balder disappeared. I heard a scream pierce the air. I immediately recognized it.
"Phosphora!" I sprinted toward the scream as it faded. But all I saw near the training hall was her electricity-manipulating blue scarf. "Dang it!" I yelled, punching the wall in frustration. Pittoo and the girls caught up to me.
"What happened?" Nene asked. "I saw you guys run right past us."
"Phosphora's been captured. I only have her scarf." I held it up.
"Wait," Pittoo interrupted. "There's a trail of black residue leading to the arena. We can catch up on Exo Tanks and Aether Rings. Molly and Nene, take the tunnels to the beast hold and walk up from there. Pit and I will go up ahead using Exo Tanks." We nodded.
As the girls boarded the Aether Rings, I put on Phosphora's scarf before hopping into my Exo Tank. We immediately took off.
We'll get you back, Phosphora. I promise.
--------------------------------------------------------
When we got to the arena, I immediately jumped out and looked for the Lightning Flash. No sign. But I saw a portal to the Chaos Vortex slowly closing. Without thinking, I jumped in.
"Wait up!" Pittoo yelled as he flew after me, the portal sealing itself shut behind us.
"Why are you coming with me?" I asked.
"Phosphora may like you more, but she's still my ally as a commander of the Forces of Nature. So don't think this is your rescue mission alone."
I nodded and turned my attention to the nauseating confusion of the Chaos Vortex. Eyes stared at us, and multiple troops from the Underworld Army, Aurum, and Forces of Nature flew around the drifting islands. I felt for my bow as some Shadow Angels saw me, but felt nothing. Feeling the electricity flow through me, I defeated them easily. I became more comfortable with using Phosphora's powers, but knew I had to return the scarf once I saved her. We landed on the island where we last fought the Chaos Kin, Viridi's Electro Trap still in its place, but this time with Phosphora in it.
"Phosphora, we'll free you," I whispered, looking at my heavily wounded ally. I looked up as I saw a Shadow Angel with the Chaos Kin's eye on its chest and gooey wings land.
"So you finally arrived," it growled. "I take it you're here for the girl." I gritted my teeth.
"Release her now!"
"Why should I?" he asked, leaning towards her. "I'm going to have some fun with her." Then, he licked her. Yes. LICKED her. My palms were sweaty and my knuckles were whitened as my fists were clenched in anger. "Her soul needs more time to ripen. And you saving her? That is just... Precious."
--------------------------------------------------------
Nene's POV
We sprinted to the garden where Lady Artemis was polishing her bow. She looked up.
"Hm? What seems to be the problem?"
"One of the stronger Shadow Angels managed to get in here. A woman with four guns fought the minor troops, and--"
"What?! But how could an Umbra Witch be in this realm?"
"Umbra Witch?" I was completely baffled by that term. No doubt Molly was too.
"Umbra Witches were a clan of women who used the powers of darkness and demons to battle the angels of Paradiso." I gasped.
"I heard her talk about that! And that's not all. Pit and Pittoo went after the leader and into the Chaos Vortex. Is there any way we can help them?"
"In the arena is a shrine with which I can open a portal to the Chaos Vortex. We could use that." I nodded.
"That would be perfect, Lady Artemis." We ran to the arena.
We're helping out too. Get ready.

Hey guys! Guillermo456 here. Sorry this isn't Rangers of Unova and was so late. I had a ton of homework. But I will be working on here again! Unfortunately, I can't roleplay with anyone for a while. Bayonetta: Oh no you don't! (pulls me back) You still have to make up with some characters.
Rodin: Yeah. And when are me and Jeanne joining in?!
Winry: You know, that whole incident a few months ago didn't solve anything!
Roy Mustang: (death stares me)
Me: Okay... How about we just close this up and do that next post-chapter?
Bayonetta: I do want to do some shopping.
Rodin: Need to get back to my bar, the Gates of Hell. (does a thumbs up and grins) Where we set our prices on fire, so there won't be hell to pay!
Winry: Really? You're saying that now?"
Roy Mustang: (looks at Rodin) You use flame alchemy too?
Rodin: No. I'm a demon.
Hades: That makes two of us!
All except me: SHUT UP, HADES!!!
