Amanda's POV

"You look so lovely when you pout," Neen commented, taking a quick glance at my face before returning her attention to the road.

I wanted to say "You're not bad looking yourself" but I held my tongue, not sure how she would react to my compliment.

It wasn't going to be a lie if I told her that she was very attractive. I gazed at her lovely face and her seductive figure.

I wondered if she was married or engaged to be married, or, hopefully, single.

I tried not to say anything but in the end I knew that it would eat me up not knowing what her marital status was. I found myself saying to her, "You are an extremely alluring woman, Neen. Are you single?"

The near miss between Neen's car and another caused my heart to flip in my chest, not because we almost got into an accident but because Neen's loss of control behind the wheel was a sign that she was not unaffected by my question.

She remained quiet for a while, keeping her eyes on the road. I wondered whether she was ever going to say anything again until we reached our destination.

She did in fact keep quiet throughout the rest of the trip. I wondered if my question had touched a nerve. Had she just come from a painful divorce, or a painful cancellation of an engagement, or maybe even just a painful breakup with a boyfriend?

My thoughts were in a whirl as she maneuvered her car into a space in the parking lot of a restaurant. She was right. It was a solitary establishment along a long stretch of road by the waterfront.

The fresh sea breeze caressed my face and hair as I walked alongside Neen. I glanced secretly at her face again. She was so pretty but although she was smiling there seemed to be some sadness behind the smile. I was getting more intrigued by the second. I boldly took her hand in mine.

She turned to me with a surprised expression but she did not try to pull her hand away.

"This is a restaurant that specializes in seafood," she explained.

"I'm not surprised that a restaurant by the waterfront would specialize in seafood," I remarked, savoring the feel of her soft silky hand in mine.

I looked up at the sign above the door. The restaurant was simply named "Today's Catch".

Well for me, today's catch was Neen, I thought gleefully as I allowed her to lead me inside the small cozy establishment.

I was surprised to see that the tables were almost all occupied. We managed to find an empty one very close to the cashier's counter.

A waiter immediately approached us and handed us each a menu booklet.

"Have you been here before?" I asked Neen.

"Yes," she replied. "This is an unforgettable place for me. This is where I caught my ex-boyfriend cheating on me. Although this place has unpleasant memories for me I can't resist coming back just for the wonderful food they serve."

Well, I wanted to tell her, unpleasant memories can be replaced with pleasant ones. We can make happy memories here, so happy that coming to this place will evoke only sweet memories and obliterate the unpleasant ones.

"Which wonderful dish would you like me to try?" I asked.

Neen ran her finger through the list of breakfast menus. Her finger stopped right where it said Cheesy lobster omelet. There was a picture of it right beside it.

"That looks yummy," I said, my stomach starting to rumble now.

"Trust me, it is," she said.

"Would you like to have some tea or coffee?" she asked.

"I'm not a coffee drinker," I confessed. "I usually drink citrus green tea."

"I've never tried that before," she remarked, "I wanna try it and see if I like the taste. If I don't then I can always order my usual sweet black coffee."

After Neen gave the waiter our order, she leaned close towards me. My heart flipped in my chest once more as she extended her hand to brush away a strand of hair from my face that the sea breeze earlier had blown loose from behind my ear.

"What's that perfume you're wearing?" I asked, to break the awkward silence that fell between us.

"Ysatis by Givenchy," she replied.

I made a mental note of it. I could buy a bottle for her later as a birthday present or for a special occasion.

"How about you, what is that scent you're wearing?" she asked.

"I'm not wearing any," I replied. "That's my natural body smell whenever I sweat."

I followed that statement with laughter to let her know that I was joking.

"You're probably smelling my shampoo," I said.

"What shampoo do you use on your hair?" she wanted to know.

"Mermaid Hair shampoo," I replied.

"It smells of a combination of orange blossoms and coconut," she remarked.

"That's what the main ingredients of my shampoo are," I said. I marveled at the keenness of her olfactory senses.

Our conversation was interrupted by the arrival of our omelets and tea drinks.

Neen took a sip of the citrus green tea.

"Mmm..." she said after swallowing, "I like the taste. From now on, I will alternate my coffee with this kind of tea."

"Great plan," I remarked with a wide smile.

I picked up my own cup and had just finished sipping from it when I almost spat it onto my plate of cheesy lobster omelet.

The entrance door of the restaurant had opened and in walked Saint with someone I didn't recognize. It definitely was not Perth. It was someone taller than Perth and just as good looking but more muscled and well built. And he was guiding Saint by the hand to a corner table that looked almost secluded.

My mind was circling faster than a cyclone. Should I call Perth and tell him all about it? Or should I just mind my own business.

I was startled by the sound of Neen's fingers snapping in front of my face.

"You look like you've seen a ghost," she remarked, not bothering to hide her curiosity.
