Saint's POV
"You look upset," I said to Perth after his phone conversation with his father ended.
"I am upset," Perth confirmed. "My father and Amanda's father are pressuring me to attend Amanda's birthday celebration."
"When is it taking place?" I asked, my heart rate spiking. My instincts were telling me this wasn't a good development, not for Perth's and my relationship.
"Next week," he replied.
"Couldn't you make the excuse that you are still an invalid?" I asked.
Perth frowned at me. "Please don't call me that. That sounds ableist to me."
I raised an eyebrow at Perth.
"I'm sorry," he said. "I guess I'm just being oversensitive about my current condition."
I wanted to tell him that if he hadn't been so unreasonably jealous he wouldn't be in this condition right now but I held back my tongue.
"So are you going to Amanda's birthday party?" I asked, the anxiety coming back to my chest.
"I might not be able to dodge it because her father said he would get someone to pick me up from here," Perth said grimly.
"Shit," I said under my breath.
"Your clothes are all clean and neatly folded now," Waan the home health aide announced as he carried the laundry bin out of the laundry room.
"Thank you, Waan," said Perth. "Would you kindly place them inside my dresser drawer in the bedroom?"
"Sure, I will," Waan replied already heading for the bedroom.

His name is Best Vittawin. He played the role of Good, the best friend of Cantaloupe in Love By Chance the series. In this fan fic I thought I'd give a face to Waan, Perth's home health aide so I thought why not Best who was in that same series as Perth and Saint and the others.
"Thank you," said Perth before turning to Tae.
"Do I have to go through any more strengthening exercises?" I asked.
"Actually yes," Tae replied, glancing at me, as if to gauge my reaction.
"Help me back to the floor mat then," Perth said to Tae.
Hopping with his good leg, Perth with Tae's assistance went back to the floor mat in the middle of the living room where Tae carefully helped him to lie on his back and then rolled him onto his stomach.
I stood in my place watching Perth and Tae thinking how easy it would be for a physical therapist and a client to develop feelings because of their physical proximity.
"Shouldn't these be hung in the closet?" I was startled by Waan's voice behind me.
Waan wasn't actually talking to me. His eyes were on Perth.
I answered for Perth.
"Yes, Waan, they should be hung in the closet," I said. "Come, let me show you where to hang them."
Waan followed me inside the bedroom.
I walked up to the closet and pushed aside the sliding closet door which doubled as a full length mirror.
I took out two empty hangers and turned around to get the trousers and long sleeved shirt that Waan was holding. I didn't realize how close he was standing behind me. My movement made me almost lose my balance as I tried to avoid the inevitable physical contact.
Waan caught me and held me tight to keep me from falling to the floor.
Our eyes locked. We were both wide eyed. Waan's cheeks slowly turned crimson.
I was the first to recover.
I straightened myself to recover my balance.
"Sorry about that," I said smiling awkwardly. "I didn't realize how close you were standing behind me."
"You smell so good," Waan said and instantly clapped his hand over his mouth, his cheeks turning redder than it previously was.
I didn't know how to react to his awkward statement.
I grabbed Perth's clothes and turned back to the closet where I hastily hung them inside and then slid back the door with more force than necessary.
"I ... I'm so sorry," Waan said looking very mortified. "I ... I don't know what made me say that."
"It's forgotten," I said. "Let's go back to the living room before Perth starts to wonder what monkey business we're up to here inside."
Waan was already rushing out of the bedroom before I could even finish my sentence.
What the hell was wrong with him.
