A New Prosphey and Brother *
Chapter 4:
*Percy's POV*
I sat alone at the Poseidon table, searching for Marina. She still hadn't turned up for dinner. Even though it was a common occurrence, I was beginning to worry
Annabeth slid beside me, ignoring the looks from the other camp leaders, "where's Marina?"
"I have no idea,"
"Two weeks, she's often late to dinner, it's like she had something to do that more important than a basic necessity,"
"Beats me," I shrugged and went back to stabbing my steak. Thoughts of the upcoming Chariot Races taking precedence.
A chill ran down my back, the other campers felt it too. Automatically we all turned to see a shuffling figure, clad in ghostly light walking to the pavilion. Green tendrils snaked around her body and I knew of the presence that I hoped never to experience again.
"The Spirit of Delphi," Annabeth whispered.
"It is Rachel?" I asked, confused.
"No, I'm here," Rachel said under her breath and coming to stand next to me.
The figure came closer to the light, but the cloudy mist prevented us from identifying the person.
They rose their arms, the green mist billowed away in a dramatic gesture, it turned around.
An orange Camp Half-Blood shirt, serrated raven hair, lightly tanned skin, familiar wide eyes which glowed with a strange light.
"Marina?"
The body stiffened, when it spoke, it spoke in three voices;
"Betrayed and cast by ones' own friends
Spurred a darkness till the end
Free the Delphi at a price
Stopped new dead via thrice strife
Clouded eyes cause thee to shriek
And lose a love one at their peak,"
After the dramatic prosphey, the green smoke faded away and Marina collapsed to the ground.
I rushed to her aid, "Marina wake up!" I shook her shoulder, "Marina!"
"What?" She groaned, "Percy, I told you not to wake me up until brekky,"
I grimaced, a nervous laugh flittered through the crowding campers.
"Move away, give her some air!" A few Apollo children pushed through, Chiron behind them.
"The spirit of Delphi... How?" Annabeth asked.
Marina looked confused, "what?"
Everyone shuffled and spoke amongst them. The Spirit of the Delphi wasn't supposed to be free, if it was, the gods would've warned us. Or at least hinted...
"HURRY! A new camper! And it's like he's bringing an entire monster entourage!" A young Ares camper cried with a sword in hand, he ran to Half-Blood Hill.
Marina with newfound strength, quickly pursued the crowd of demigods, barely glancing at me and Annabeth.
We arrived at Half-Blood Hill where a thin crowd of demigods stood to watch the entry of the new camper.
There was a boy, alone, running for the entrance, "He's not going to make it," one of the campers cried out.
Hellhounds and a squad of cyclopes followed the boy, without thought, I ran towards him, past the border. One particular cyclopes with a very flat face lashed out at the fleeing demigod, grazing the back of his legs.
"Ma Gasket," I barely heard Piper gasp.
I bundled the boy onto my shoulders, he was a few years younger than me, but painfully light.
The campers stood there, stunned at the pursuit of monsters. "Well?" I yelled, "come on! Fight!"
The campers that were in battle gear (mostly the Ares cabin) and a few that weren't but were armed (the rest of the Ares cabin) charged forwards and made quick work of the monsters.
I set the unconscious boy down, Marina rushed forwards, "Marina stay back, he needs help,"
"Dilan! Wake up please!" Her voice was choked, tears streamed down her face.
"You know him?" Annabeth asked cautiously.
"His name is Dilan Fishing-Dale," Maria choked out, "he's my twin,"
So the introduction of another character, even though this chapter wasn't super long, it was still longer than a lot of my chapters.
Percy: Got that right
Me: hush Percy, go to your room, knowing you, you'll probably drop some spoilers.
Percy: Am I allowed to say one thing?
Me: What?
Percy: Even though Gracey would like to be super complicated with her prosphies, she isn't very good at the whole "Poem" thing, don't worry about the poem being super complicated like Master Rick Riodan.
Me: okay you've said enough, go to your room
Percy: *storms off to room*
Me: heh, geddit? Storms?
You probably don't
