Chapter 1
It was a day like any other, the sun shined bright, the blue sky was vibrant as ever, and the hunters were killing any grimms they came across.
In the famous kingdom of Vale the Academy of Beacon was found. One of the 4 hunter academies across the kingdoms, its first year students were currently in the Grimm anatomy class, listening to yet another never ending lecture of their professor. Professor Port would usually let his stories span on, allowing the students to mostly just talk to each other and lose time.
Port:"And there I was, surrounded by a pack of ferocious beowolfs." As per usual his stories had himself as the main focus. "Each bigger than the last, but one stood out the most as his size was significantly larger than the others. Can anyone tell me why?"
???:"Must have eaten some faunus trash before the battle." A deep voice answered from the back of the classroom with a laugh as other 3 voices joined in. The young brown that answerd haired teen was the leader of team CRDL Cardin Winchester, he despised the faunus and saw them as animals.
???:"And yet again, you show exactly how much of a arrogant racist you are Cardin." Said a feminin voice that came from Yang Xiao Long, the blonde brawler of team Rwby.
Professor Port sighed at his students antics and rubbed his forehead. He and the others teachers grew tired of Cardin's comments, but they couldn't do anything since the Headmaster was the only one with authority for that, unfortunately he was busy with more pressing matters most of the time.
???:"It's because that Beowolf was an Alpha. Their overall strength and size is almost double that of a regular pack member. Easy to figure out if you at least half a brain." Another masculine voice gave the correct answer along with a not so subtle snarky comment. This was Akira Yamasaki, a teen with white messy hair that had a blue bang in it.
The rest of the class laughed and chuckeled at the comment made by the white haired teen, this caused Cardin to glare at Akira.
Port:"That is correct mister Yamasaki." He nodded. "Alpha's are known for their increased strength, however their large size causes a disadvantage since it reduces speed." From this point the gray haired man went back to his stories resulting in the students tuning him out again.
Akira himself just put on his headphones and listened to music on his scroll. The teen took out his sketchbook and use it for what it was designated for, he began to slowly tap the back his foot on the floor following the song's rhythm as he draw.
"Just some weeks until the Vytal Festival starts." Akira reminded himself in his thoughts. "Have to train some more for that. Hm... I'll do that later, after class I'll just chill." He kept drawing until the bell rang signaling the class's end.
Taking his headphones the white haired teen stuffed them in his pocket and picked his stuff up. Walking through the crowd of students he made his way to the rooftop in order to enter a balcony, it offered the most privacy causing it to be a great place where Akira could draw peacefully.
Resuming his sketch the hunter in training let his imagination run wild, each mive of his hand created a new layer of shading on his masterpiece. He is suddenly stopped by the sound of an impact, picking his gaze out of his sketchbook the teen saw a strange book on the ground.
Akira:"Could have swore that wasn't there when I got here."He mumbled and put the sketchbook was holding into his backpack. Stepping forward he bentdown and picked the black book, which turned out to be a notebook in actuality, inspecting it he turns it around to find a weird writing on it's face.
"What kind of crap is this? People have the weirdest personalizations." Akira tought rolling his eyes, curiosity took him over however and he opened it, what he saw made his breath hitch for a second.
"Ok, this just got a bit creepy. Who the hell would think this is funny?" Looking around Akira didn't find anyone who could have dropped the notebook, deciding to stop worrying over, most probably, nothing he just puts it in his backpack and goes to his next class.
*Timeskip*
The sun was starting to set over Beacon academy, most teams were in their dorms just socializing or doing homework. Akira's team went out for the night, he kindly declined the offer to join them and took a shower before sitting at his desk about to do his homework until he pulls out 'that' notebook.
"This again." He opens it and reads over the rules again. "No way this could actually work... No harm in trying, I suppose." He grabed his pencil and tought about who's name he should write until coming over the perfect candidate, and a perfect cause of death.
Cardin Winchester
He will die by tripping inside of the Beacon Cafeteria, cracking his head open against a table.
"A fitting death for a racist piece of shit." The white haired teen laughed in his head before looking at the clock and setting the notebook down grabbing his real one, starting to do his homework.
As he ended his first sentence a loud scream caused him to drag his pen down and rip the page on which he was writing. Shooting his head up he instantly looked at the clock and saw it was about 43 seconds since he wrote inside the death note. "No... No, stop thinking like a crazy person. That shit didn't actually work." Akira tried to reassure himself, but his curiosity took the better of him and he rushed to the cafeteria.
A large crowed was gathered around a table, pushing his way forward the teen managed to get a clear view. As he did his blood ran cold and his face paled. Next to the table lied Cardin's body, his head spilling blood onto the floor while his teammates looked horrified along with everyone else.
"This...can't be real...That Death note did not just actually do this!..." But the proof was undeniable, the dead body of the peron who's name he wrote was lying at his feet.
???:" EVERYONE STEP AWAY!" A commanding female voice ordered as the person stepped forward and picked up the wounded student using her semblance."All of you back to your dorms, NOW!" Professor Goodwitched rushed over to the infirmary after this.
Akira took no time and broke into a sprint to his dorm, slamming the door open he turned and closed it before picking up the Death Note with shaking hands.
"How, did it actually work?!...No, it's just a coincidence...A huge coincidence. I can't risk it tho." He quickly scanned around for a place to hide the notebook, hiding it inside the dorm was not a smart idea at all he figured that. Having no real place to put it away safely he simply puts it in his backpack in the backside hidden compartment used mainly for some money before this.
"This can work until I find a real alternative... God... What have I done?" Akira couldn't ignore the facts, his mind finally accepted the truth which caused him to run into the bathroom and vomit down the toilet. He killed someone, and there was no way to ever explain or comprehend how it was possible this 'Death Note'... was real.
*Timeskip*
A few days have passed since Cardin's death, everyone was left speechless ipon learning of the tragic event, well most of them found themselves happy about it deeply. Some even laughed at the way the bully died since it was very much a cartoonish manner that he passed away.
Akira kept himself away from people during this time, he wanted some time to think about what happened. Each day he would go back to the balcony and just stare at the Death Note in his hands, it terrified him. He had a plan for later that day to put it inside a safe and throw it down a river, in hopes of it never being found again.
Currently everyone was in the courtyard in order to attend a speech the Headmaster planned. The teens kept murmuring and talking between each other, Akira was sitting more in the back holding tightly onto his backpack handle.
Ozpin:"We are all aware why we are here today." The white haired man started causing everyone to quiet down. "Unfortunately Cardin Winchester has passed away in a accident 3 days ago. He was a promising hunter in training and it saddening to see him go... But it something that we must all learn to accept... A hunter's job isn't easy, death is always close, so we must deal with grieve and not let it overcome us."
Everyone remained quite at their headmaster's words, thinking everything over the crowd of people started to go away as the white haired man sipped his coffee and headed back to his office. Akira himself prepared to go and finally get rid of the Death Note, but gets stopped by a call on his scroll from an unknown caller.
???:"Is this Akira Yamasaki?" A female voice asked.
Akira:"Yes, it's me." The white haired teen said as his head wondered what this could be about.
???:"I...am sorry to inform you that your sister has been found dead." The caller stated, Akira's eyes widen as his knees tremble.
Akira:"W-what's the cause of death?" He asked as his voice grew angry and the grip on his phone tightened. "Sakura... I swear that if someone did this... I'll find their name and make them be eaten by Grimm after their family goes first!" He yelled in his head as tears threatened to fall.
???:"...It was suicide sir." The world slowed down to a halt, the teen's grip slipped as his scroll dropped from his hand and hit the ground. Tears ran down his cheeks as he just stared on at nothing, he couldn't procees it and he didn't want to. People passed by him, as only one thought repeated over and over again in his mind.
"Please, God... It's my fault...Give me punishment... but don't take my sister away...Please..."
