Chapter One: Key To Undivine
Melancholy songs quietly played in the background, the morning dawned and at this moment you might as well have been smelling the fresh aroma of breakfast in the kitchen.
"Place it back in the oven Woman! Its color needs to be golden!" A old man with a tattered beard snaps.
Not so pleased with her husband's bickering, the old woman silently complied; placing the biscuits back in the oven.
In this town, this couple are known by the names of Mr. and Mrs. Gluxin. They are known for their delicious baked goods and spunky attitudes, and that's saying something for someone in their late 60's.
Mr. Gluxin tightened his suspenders a bit as he got up from the table. "That damn girl best be not sleepin in again."
"Honey, you do know she is only 17. She cant always be at your bec en call. Let her sleep a bit more wont ya?" Mrs. Gluxin quietly spoke.
Mr. Gluxin scoffed as he takes a swig of his blackened coffe that may or may not have a swig of tequila in. The old man stands quietly as he stared at an old photo of him and his tractor.
"REBECCA ALISTER GET YER ASS UP AND GO GET ME SOME TOBACCO!"
Without a second to spare, you could hear a loud thump, followed by panicked footsteps running down the stairs. Moments later a average looking girl emerged from around the corner in a panicked state.
"Sorry pa, I'll wake up quicker next morrow." The girl spoke; messing with her tangled golden locks.
"Ye better, now get sum log wood and my tabacco yer wasting sunlight!"
With her final order, Rebecca made her way out of the small cottage and toward the forest line. This forest was a sacred forest, none are aloud past the gate that stood a bit off from the line. This is what they called "The Undevine Passway." All who pass the fence dissapear, no trace found. Some thought it was a refuge hideout, yet whoever went to check, again, never came back.
Rabecca smiled as she gathered some log wood by the gate to the undivine. Her eyes wandered looking past the gate, to wonder, what is really behind there?
"Hey, miss!" A hushed voice called.
Rebecca perks up a bit, she looks around to see nothing but the forest and a cobbled stone wall.
"No, no miss! I'm down here!" The hushed voice called again.
Rebecca looks down and tilts her head a bit. On the ground was a small glowing light.
"What? I must be dreaming! A mere light couldn't be speaking!!" Rebecca spoke to herself.
"It tis! I am speaking!! And I need your help!" The light flew up a bit and was now right in front of her face. "I am gwen. I am a knight of the fire fly queen."
Rebecca looks at the light with slight confusion. "Odd, peculiar even, I didn't think insects could talk."
"Only special one miss. I am knip and I come from past the undivine."
"The undivine! No one has ever escaped the forest! How did a mere firefly escape?"
The firefly bounced up and down as it was thinking of a reply. It then flew towards the gate and glew brighter. "Cause the undivine is not a forest miss. It's a realm. The realm of fireflies. "
Rebecca tilts her head, "A realm? Like the ones in the fantasy books I read?"
"Indeed. But this is a real realm, filled with chaos and war. Especially after the princess went missing." The light flickered and went back over to the girl. "That key.. around your neck. That will work. Unlock the gate and join me on this adventure miss!"
Rebecca looks down at the key, hanging around her neck. It was the last thing her mother gave her before her parents dissapeared and left her with the Gluxin's. She holds the key for just a moment. Then with a deep sigh; she walks towards the gate.
