Chapter 2: My UA Debut!

(Warning: I am shit at fight scenes)

I stood at the entrance of UA, Hayloft II by Mother Mother blasting through my headphones. I guess this was it. After so many years of waiting, I was finally here.

The place was crowded, filled with people from all over the country. There were stalls, balloons, and some fireworks had blasted in the sky a couple minutes ago. This could be none other than the hype of the UA Sports Festival!

Not that I really cared. Sure, it was fun to compete against others at times, or to show off what you can do. However, there weren't just citizens and pro heroes watching, but villains as well. I preferred to keep my capabilities secret, from both villains and heroes.

A man dressed in all black and wearing a grey sweater stuck out from the crowd. He was wearing bandages on his face and arms. His black hair was long and a bit messy, but his piercing eyes met mine and I knew who he was.

"Shouta Aizawa, I presume?" I lowered my headphones, the blasting music still audible.

"You're Kaela Locke then." He tipped his head.

I smiled a convincing smile. "Thank you for letting me join the school so far into the semester."

I tried to appear as grateful as I could, but it was hard to remember what that feeling felt like, especially with the overwhelming anticipation of the crowd.

"The semi-finals are beginning soon. I'll show you to where the students from the class you'll be in are sitting." Aizawa turned around and began to walk to the arena with the first years.

I put my headphones back on, delighted that Happy Face by Jagwar Twin was playing.

Bopping my head along with the music, I thought about the exchange with the UA teacher. Aizawa's voice had sounded flat, his eyes lacking life, but he radiated pride. He radiated pride toward his students. He must be an excellent teacher.

Aizawa went to sit in the middle of the front row, and I went to sit next to him.

The semi-finals piqued my interest for sure, but what I was really here to watch was the finals. If the finalist is good enough, he may survive me.

The battle between Todoroki and Bakugou was incredible to watch. There was no doubt in my mind that either of them could survive me, they could both provide solid entertainment.

"Hey, Aizawa," I started, eyes glued to the match. "I want to go against the champion."

Aizawa didn't even blink, but I felt all the students' gazes on me.

"Who are you, and what are you wearing?" A pink girl said.

"I'm Kaela Locke, and I have yet to be dress-coded." I replied, sparing the pink girl a glance. I lied earlier; I am most definitely not wearing the uniform. Can you blame me though, who wants to wear the same thing as everybody else?

Aizawa pointedly ignored the implication to dress-code me. "I'll let you face the champion, if—and only if—you promise to follow the rules."

"If you mean the rules that the others drilled into me before I came, then I can only simply promise to try." I smiled sweetly at him before turning back to the match, which seemed to be coming to an end.

I leaned forward, a slow, cheshire smile spreading across my face as I saw who I'd be facing. "Oh, this'll be perfect."

...

"You can't let her go against Bakugou; he never shows even slight mercy toward any opponent!" One of the students yelled.

They had all started arguing as soon as the winner had been announced. I ignored them. Slipping my headphones back on, I selected a Melanie Martinez album.

I walked down to the arena, where the announcement was being made, and Bakugou was looking royally pissed. This was going to be fun all right.

I stepped into the arena, the crowd in shock not just to see another challenger, but one not in the usual attire.

I had on my purple converse, cargo pants, and a tank top. My tattoos were on show for all to see, especially the flaming purple angel wings spread across my shoulder blades.

Bakugou stepped into the arena a second later, a scoff evident in his features.

"Give me all you got, bomb boy." I challenged in a mocking tone.

"GET READY...AND BEGIIIIINNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Present Mic yelled out.

For five seconds, the two of us stood on opposing sides, watching, seeing who would make the first move.

From the other matches, I'd observed that Bakugou launched into a fight with all his might, but this fight was different. This fight was against me. He has no idea who I am or what my quirk is, whether I have experience or power in my corner. He's taking his time. Smart.

I pulled out Moonlight, flipped it, and caught it by the tip. My opponent's face screwed in confusion upon seeing my weapon.

I smiled and threw my blade at lightning speed. Bakugou dodged, barely. The blade still managed to nick his ear. I knew the kid had reflexes, but few could dodge my blade, even when they know what I'm capable of.

"Locke, no weapons!" Midnight yelled.

I glanced toward the hero who'd spoken and smiled innocently. "I was testing his skills. If he couldn't dodge the knife, then he'd have no hope against me."

Turning back to face my opponent, I turned up the volume on my music; it was time to get serious. I rolled my neck, my feet bouncing slightly to the beat.

"...Running through the parking lot, he chased me and he wouldn't stop..." I sang quietly.

Bakugou charged, his hands blasting. I dodged every blast he sent at me. For now, I would stay on defense. Once I learned his fighting style, and the basics of his emotions, I'd go on offense.

Anger was a definite no for this guy, sadness would be boring, and he could most likely fight through fear. Hopelessness was the answer; I'd take away his will to fight, if I could.

As I slowly transitioned from defense to offense, I started to take away his sense of worth. The feeling of your quirk being worthless was a feeling many struggled with; I'd memorized it well.

Steadily, I added the feelings of being unwanted and rejection. Fully on offense now, I started to amplify those feelings.

Bakugou was strong, I'll give him that, but nobody was immune to feelings. I could see in his eyes the battle raging within him, but he was losing. His eyes were looking more frantic by the minute.

"What are you doing?!" He screamed at me. He threw a right hook but feinted at the last second and changed it to an uppercut. I barely had time to block.

"Amazing!" I exclaimed, a cheshire smile growing on my face. "Such strong will you have; being able to fight so well in such a state. I'm going to have to level up my game."

I kept amplifying feelings of worthlessness, being unwanted, and rejection. However, no matter how much I increased those emotions, he kept fighting on. It was frustrating, no one can have this much determination all on their own. How can someone fight this hard only for himself?

It didn't just make me mad; it brought back memories. Memories of my old life—memories I did not wish to roam freely in my mind's eye.

My previous wide smile dropped to a harsh scowl. "If I can't take away your will to fight, I'll take away your will to live." I growled.

I dredged up the feelings I'd felt in my first life when Adelaide had been killed. It had been a time before I had ever thought of revenge.

My vision became doubled as I poured those feelings into my opponent, who seemed to flicker between Bakugou and the school shooter. The audience morphed into the villains responsible for my hero's death.

My quirk was getting hard to contain to just Bakugou—who I faintly registered was on the ground screaming—it wanted to escape. My quirk was begging to devour the crowd and perhaps letting it wouldn't be such a horrible idea.

I smiled and threw my arms wide. I tilted my head toward the sky as power raced out of me. A laugh bubbled up inside me as I heard their screams of terror.

"My friends don't walk, they run
Skinny dip in rabbit holes for fun
Popping, popping balloons with guns
Getting high off helium"

I closed my eyes.

"We paint white roses red
Each shade from a different person's head
This dream, dream is a killer
Getting drunk with a blue caterpillar"

I swayed side to side to the beat.

"I'm peeling the skin off my face
'Cause I really hate being safe
The normals, they make me afraid
The crazies, they make me feel sane"

I lifted my hands to my face.

"I'm nuts, baby, I'm mad
The craziest friend that you've ever had
You think I'm psycho, you think I'm gone
Tell the psychiatrist something is wrong
Over the bend, entirely bonkers
You like me best when I'm off my rocker
Tell you a secret, I'm not alarmed"

My shoulders shook as I began to laugh uncontrollably.

"All the best people are crazy
All the best people are"

My voice amplified as I turned the terror to madness.

"Where is my prescription?
Doctor, doctor, please listen
My brain is scattered
You can be Alice, I'll be the Mad Hatter"

My fingers twitched.

"I'm peeling the skin off my face
'Cause I really hate being safe
The normals, they make me afraid
The crazies, they make me feel sane"

I scratched my face as my control began slipping more and more.

"I'm nuts, baby, I'm mad
The craziest friend that you've ever had
You think I'm psycho, you think I'm gone
Tell the psychiatrist something is wrong
Over the bend, entirely bonkers
You like me best when I'm off my rocker
Tell you a secret, I'm not alarmed
So what if I'm crazy? The best people are"

I pulled my hair.

"You think I'm crazy, you think I'm gone
So what if I'm crazy? All the best people are
And I think you're crazy too, I know you're gone
That's probably the reason that we get along"

I rocked back and forth.

"I'm nuts, baby, I'm mad
The craziest friend that you've ever had
You think I'm psycho, you think I'm gone
Tell the psychiatrist something is wrong
Over the bend, entirely bonkers
You like me best when I'm off my rocker
Tell you a secret, I'm not alarmed
So what if I'm crazy? The best people are"

My quirk stopped, but I continued to sing and spiral farther into madness.

"All the best people are crazy
All the best people are
All the best people are crazy
All the best people are"

Purple smoke glittered in my vision. It was calming, and I welcomed the sleep that accompanied it.

So, I'm just going to come out and say it: Elloise technically has two quirks. This second one, Siren, ties in with her emotional manipulation. She hardly uses it, and never has memory of using it, or the events that occurred then and around that time.

I hope this chapter was good and that you all enjoyed it. I sure had a fun time writing it. Since I'm shit at writing fight scenes but amazing with writing emotions, Elloise's quirk is a bit of a cheat for me.

I have yet to decide who she will become attached to, if anyone, but it will probs be Aizawa. Also, next fight scene is in chapter 4 (most likely) and it will be against Stain. So, music recommendations are appreciated!
