Chapter 28: Daddy Issues [Part 2]

Liam

I'm sorry, what?

Excuse me, I think I went deaf just now.

I could've sworn the teacher just said someone's pregnant inside the class. I mean... what the flying fuck?

I'm barely 18! I don't wanna be pregnant!

I've only just discovered I COULD get pregnant. I haven't even wrapped my mind around it. I don't wanna be a dad now.

Not at all!

Anyway, the point is moot. There's no use debating this subject at this moment. Now, it's only a matter of determining who, in fact, is pregnant.

Fingers crossed it's not me.

Right...🙄

"There's no need for panic, people. It's completely fine if you're pregnant. The school has resources for this individual. It's not that big of a deal. I've already mind linked nurse Adams to come here and talk to this person." - Mrs. Stewart spoke in a reassuring tone.

"Patricia, step forward please." - She asked Junior's mate who seats at the front of the class, next to him.

A very nervous looking Trisha does as she's told. Junior is sweating buckets already in anticipation.

As soon as she's closer to the teacher, she takes a good inhale of her scent. Werewolves can detect if a person is pregnant by their scent.

But in order for a person to be able to do that, first the werewolf in question must've been around pregnant people before. That is after they already shifted (if you've been around your pregnant mom as a child, it doesn't count).

Second, the pregnant individual must be close enough in order for you to scent it. And the fact that we're in a crowded classroom full of students doesn't really help matters.

But the scent must be strong enough for Mrs. Stewart to sense it. Now, she just needs to be certain of who it is.

"It's not you, Trisha." - She told a very relieved looking girl.

"Oh thank Goddess!" - Junior blurted. Then, he blushes at the attention he got from his classmates.

"Miriam, please step forward." - The teacher asked her in a stern tone.

She looked very nervous. Though not nearly enough as Jefferson is. He's freaking out.

"You're going to take care of the baby, Jeff! I'm not giving up college!" - She yelled at him, who practically fainted.

She walked up to the front of the class and let the teacher take a whiff of her. This would be weird for most people. But we are werewolves.

"It's not you either, Miriam." - She announced it.

"Thank you Goddess!" - Miriam screamed, relieved. Jeff literally raised his hands in praise. However, to be perfectly honest, it's probably too early to tell if she's pregnant. They were the last of us to complete the bond.

On the other hand, they did hook up on the day of my heat. So...

"Liam..." - She looked over at my direction. I knew it. I fucking knew it!

Tears come to my eyes. I stand up from my seat and walk to my mate instead, who hugs me tightly.

"It's fine, Liam. We'll deal with it." - He reassured me. I frowned a little.

"What do you mean by deal with it?" - I questioned him, suspiciously.

He gasped at this, taken aback by my question.

"I meant we will love them. I love you." - He stuttered, nervously. He looked at me flustered.

"Today, Liam!" - The teacher snapped at me, impatiently.

I got sidetracked a bit, but walk away from my mate and towards the front of the class.

The teacher took a strong whiff of me. And then she looked at me puzzled.

"It's not him." - Nurse Adams announced it at the door. I almost cried from the relief I felt. George also breathed out a relieved sigh.

"Good. You're here. Laverne, help me out here." - Mrs. Stewart told the nurse, who entered the classroom worriedly.

"Alright, girls. Stand up now. Let's see who's carrying a bun in the oven." - Nurse Adams prompted all the female students to get up so she can have a sniff.

All the while, I returned to my seat feeling so relieved I can't even put into words.

20 MINUTES LATER.

All the girls - mated or not - have been sniffed and verified. None of them are pregnant. I am not as well - thank Goddess. Both the women are looking at each other puzzled.

"Is it me, Laverne? What's happening?" - Mrs. Stewart asked her colleague, utterly confused.

"No, Anna. I would've scented it already if you were. I'm right beside you." - She rebuked, also looking confused.

"Maybe George is. Like father, like son." - Jeff teased, causing my mate to growl in annoyance at him.

Both the women looked at each other like a light bulb went off in their heads.

"George, step forward please." - Mrs. Stewart asked him in a serious tone.

Unless I'm missing something, he can't be pregnant. Not by me, anyway.

Great. Just what we needed at this point in our story, an unmated pregnancy by the guy he cheated on me with. And lied about it.🙃

"Mrs. Stewart, it can't be me. It's impossible!" - He argued, slightly peeved. I hope so, mate. Because you'd have some explaining to do, if it is.

"Then you won't mind stepping in front of the class, would you?" - She insisted, her eyebrows shot up and her tone condescending.

"Thanks, Jeff." - He grunted, looking mad at him.

He did as told and both of the women scented him.

"Thank you, Alpha. It's not you either." - Nurse Adams stated, much to MY relief.

"Thank Goddess!" - I blurted, sweating in nervousness.

"Why were you so apprehensive? I can't be pregnant!" - He asked me in a "duh" tone.

"Not by me, you can't." - I blurted, rolling my eyes.

A collective gasp can be heard by the entire room at my outburst. Though it's not a secret that he cheated, no one knows with whom and the extend of it.

"Not by anyone, William!" - He glared at me.

"People, this isn't about pointing fingers. We just need to offer the pregnant individual some assistance. Especially if they're not mated yet." - Mrs. Stewart interjected in an empathizing tone, looking all around the classroom.

"Laverne, we're gonna have to sniff all the boys too. We have to get to the bottom of this. One way or the other. We don't know which one of them had a same sex relationship!" - Mrs. Stewart proposed in a concerned tone, glancing at her colleague.

And then it hit her.

Nurse Adams let out a loud shriek, startling every single one of us inside the classroom. We're all looking at each other absolutely puzzled as to what conclusion she just reached.

I mean, they are. I know who it is.

I've suspected it for a while now. I just couldn't say his name out loud. I don't have it in me. But the nurse finally figured it out.

"I know who it is." - She stated, completely gobsmacked.

"Who, Laverne?" - Mrs. Stewart asked her, intrigued. And so was everyone else in the room.

"Seb, come with me." - She looked over at my friend at the back of the classroom, who looked at her like she's a crazy person.

"Is this a joke, auntie?" - He shot back, mesmerized by the implication.

Literally all the students gasped at the revelation. And everyone stared at him.

"No, nephew. It isn't." - She replied in a dead serious tone. Her expression was of dread.

"Wait, she's your aunt?" - I interjected, surprised at this. Everyone glares at me for interrupting them.

"Liam, tell her you're pregnant. You're the omega." - Seb pleaded, almost crying.

"I would if I could, my friend." - I said, feeling remorseful. Though I don't want to be, in this instance I'd trade places with him in a heartbeat.

"Wait. Sebastian is an omega too? How? If he were an omega, then he would be mated to the Alpha. Not Liam." - Mrs. Stewart argued, confused. I gasped at this.

Though she isn't strictly speaking wrong. If she could, the Moon Goddess certainly would've paired Seb and George together. That's an easy match. But she couldn't. Rules are rules.

"Except he can't, Anna." - Nurse Adams told her in a somber tone.

"Sebastian is the son of a Stonehold. And he couldn't be mated to someone sharing the same blood as him. Even a distant relative." - She continued, causing a collective gasp to escape our lips.

"Oh my Goddess! I didn't know he was a Stonehold too!" - Mrs. Stewart is gobsmacked. And she's not alone. Though I already knew that.

"Stop this, auntie! You're scaring me! You didn't even smell me yet!" - Seb cried out to her, sobbing uncontrollably.

I got up from my seat and rushed to comfort my friend, embracing him in a warm hug.

"Laverne, is he... Is Sebastian..." - Mrs. Stewart trailed off, trying to ask her what everyone else already knew. He is NOT mated.

"No, Anna. He isn't. But he couldn't have known to prevent this from happening. No one had any clue he was an omega." - She replied, feeling sorrow for her nephew.

I tried to be there for my friend, but he needed to go with his aunt. Some uncomfortable conversations are ahead.

Also, there's the small matter of...

"Who's the father?" - Jeff asked from his seat. Because of course he did.

"It's none of your business, Stockwell. Stay in your lane!" - Nurse Adams reprimanded him, angrily.

Finally, Seb got up from his seat and went along with his aunt. He was inconsolable, crying non stop.

The school bell had already rang and we're all late for the next class. Thankfully, I don't have any until after lunch break.

George hugged me after Seb left with his aunt.

"I'm sorry for your friend. I really am." - He told me with an empathizing tone.

"Thanks. I just wish he was mated, at least. Now he has a delicate situation on his hands." - I commented, feeling sorry for him.

"Do you know--"

"I'm not gonna answer that. Don't even ask me!" - I rolled my eyes, feeling annoyed.

"I understand, mate. Sorry I asked. I appreciate what a loyal friend you are." - He said, blushing. We all start walking out of the classroom.

"Are you okay, J? You look numbed!" - George asked him, worriedly. He noticed his troubled state as we walked.

I avoided looking at Justin precisely to not give away his "status" and preserve his privacy. But he looked absolutely gutted.

When we're at the door, Justin started to cry. Immediately, George turned around and hugged him. He tried to comfort him, even though he didn't know why he's crying.

Mia, Junior, Miriam and Trisha all stared at him, confused. I closed the door with all of us inside, trying to preserve him the best way I can.

All of them stared at me confused, while Justin cried inconsolably. I just waited patiently, giving them space.

"My dad is gonna kill me! I know it! He's gonna throw me out of the house!" - Justin told his friend, crying on my mate's arms.

At this, they all looked at each other and realized what's going on. And they gasped in shock at this revelation.

Miriam and Mia joined in on the hug, feeling concerned for their friend.

"No one is going to expel you from anywhere. You couldn't have known he was an omega!" - George argued, trying to make him feel better.

"Do you think my dad is gonna care about that? Now that his son has an unmated pregnancy! I'm a fucking Underwood!" - He spoke in a desperate tone.

"Do you want me to go with you to your house? We can tell him together." - George offered with a hopeful expression.

"No, Alpha. Thanks. It would be worse. If I bring you to my house he'll say I ambushed him and it'd be far worse for me. I have no other choice but to face this alone." - He replied, sobbing.

"I'm so sorry, Justin." - I told him, feeling remorseful. Though this isn't on me. I mean, except for the fact that they hooked up on the day of my heat.😳

"Thanks, Liam. I thought someone might get pregnant because of the Luna Effect. I just never thought it'd be him." - He snickered, trying to make humor of the situation.

"Wait, you hooked up with him on the day of the heat?" - George gasped in shock. And he wasn't alone.

"Yeah, I did. I just never would've thought..." - He trailed off. Then, he cried again.

It took him a minute to get better. They missed wrestling practice, but it was for a good cause. Of sorts.

George tried to be there for Justin all through the rest of the day. Meanwhile, I sought out Seb who also needed a friend.

"Are you okay? I mean, how are you?" - I asked him during lunch break. Almost every student of the school has been staring at him since we stepped foot in the cafeteria.

We can also hear them whispering about him. Everywhere. At the same time. It's nerve wrecking.

"I'm hanging in there. My aunt said she's gonna go to my house with me and help me break the news to my parents." - He replied with a saddened tone.

"Good. Did you talk to you know who?" - I speak nervously. Seb looked deep into my eyes.

"Not yet. I don't see him racing to talk to me either." - He responded. I could tell he's broken up about it.

"Give it time. I'm sure he will. He has to deal with his parents too." - I tried to reason.

"Yeah, sure. But he can't escape me now." - He smirked with a forced smile.

"Are you gonna keep it?" - I asked him in a low tone.

"I don't know yet. I don't know anything about being an omega." - He replied, honestly.

"Welcome to the club!" - I snickered, laughing mildly.

"Thanks. I know we have so much in common. But for once, I'd rather you're the only omega." - He told me with a joking tone.

"Trust me, I kinda wished I wasn't one too. For a moment there, I really thought I was pregnant." - I admitted, blushing.

He smiled uncomfortably and we tried to finish our lunch break enduring all the uncomfortable stares his way.

This is going to take a while to get passed. And some resistance to endure. And I feel for him.

I wish it wasn't such a big deal. I really do.

But it's the biggest taboo in werewolf society. And with high profile families such as theirs is even worse. Soon enough, everybody will know who the father is. Secrets don't last much in this school.

I just hope for their child's sake that they can make it work. Because for better or worse, they're linked forever now.

A|N: BOOM!

I do love me some unpredictable drama!

And this is as good as it gonna gets (from me). Though next comes the repercussions.

A storm is brewing.

Love,

Léo.
