Wow! I didn't see it coming!

I'm not saying I'm not hot for my mate, I am. Proudly so. But I don't mean that literally.😅

My mom got called away from her job as Principal Burke reported to her that I was running such a fever nurse Adams thought it best to take me to the hospital right away.

I was admitted, examed and medicated by the doctors who looked worried at me. It's not uncommon for mated people to go on rut, but it is highly unusual for them to heat up as I did.

An hour later, as I'm lying there with a drip hooked to my arm, taking medicine, my mom is talking to the doctors trying to discover what the hell happened to me.

"Are you feeling better, honey?" - She asked me, entering the hospital room I was in.

"I am now that your job comes with health insurance." - I snickered, causing her to laugh.

"I'm serious, Liam. You gave me quite the scare today. The school nurse thought you were gonna have a stroke at any moment from the fever." - She said, grimacing at the thought.

"My mind is still a little foggy with all the lust I felt for my mate, but I'm mostly normal by now." - I replied, sheepishly.

"I knew you could go into rut for not completing the bond. But what the hell happened?" - She comments, baffled.

"I have no idea, mom! I just felt like I needed..." - I trailed off, blushing.

"Yeah, I hear the entire school witnessed you getting what you needed!" - She snickered, reminding me of the scene earlier at the cafeteria.

"Oh my Goddess! I'm so mortified! How do I show my face in that school again after this?" - I blushed at the thought.

"Relax, Liam! It wasn't your fault! You weren't in your right mind when you did that." - Mom consoled me, scoffing at the near sex show I put on.

"I'm so glad Seb called out his friends when he did, I was just about to do something I'd regret for the rest of my life!" - I gasped at the thought. Really, I was seconds away from giving the entire student body an eye full of my mate's anatomy.😳

"He's a good friend. I'm glad you found someone." - She smiled at me contently.

The doctor entered the room.

"So, Mrs. Forsythe, William, we've been running all the tests we can think of to determine what happened to you earlier." - He started with a concerned look.

"At first, we thought it was leukemia." - He continues and I gasped in shock.

"Cancer?!" - I shouted in horror. Mom sat down on my bed she got so horrified.

"Yes, but it isn't. The test came back negative." - He said and I sighed in relief.

"All the tests came back negative. For now, the best theory we can come up with is that you're in heat from the lack of bonding with your mate." - He concluded, though that part I kinda figured by now.

"But doctor, I thought only females could get strike by heat." - Mom spoke, frowning in confusion. Me too, mom.🙄

"Normally yes, but since William's mate is an Alpha werewolf we think his body is reacting to his mate's Alpha DNA and that's what prompted the heat to strike." - The doctor explained, trying to make sense of the events.

Both mom and I sighed with a contemplative face, processing the information the best we can.

"But we will run a full work up, including DNA analysis of William to determine the cause. Rest assured, we're not stopping now." - He asserted, very confidently.

"Thanks, doctor." - Mom smiled pleasantly at him.

"William, you've been medicated for heat and soon we'll discharge you so your mother can take you home. We'll call you as soon as we have the results, but it can take a while. If you take your medicine, there shouldn't be any symptoms and you can carry out your life normally." - He explained, much to my relief.

"Thank you, doc." - I breathed out a huge sigh of relief.

Some time later, we arrive at the pack house and I was almost bombarded with people inquiring about my health. Beta Gutierrez, Alpha Stonehold, Principal Burke and several of the residents sought me out to express their concerns.

I assured them I was fine and feeling good as new. Honestly, it's overwhelming. But I also never had this many people showing interest in me before. I mean, aside from after Jeb nearly killed me.😬

Sure, I had friends back at the Crescent Moon pack and Emm. But nothing quite like this. Despite everything, it feels nice to be cared for.

Seb also came just before dinner. I wanted him to go to my room to talk, but since it isn't allowed we went to the play room instead. Luckily, it was empty at this hour.

"I brought notes from the class you missed. Are your feeling well?" - He asked me worriedly.

"Thanks for that. Yes, I'm great. It was mostly just a scare." - I downplayed it, a bit embarrassed.

"Girl, I was scared alright! At first, I thought you were just being thirsty. Then, when I saw you pulling up his shirt I realized something was off. I mean, I don't know you that well. But even I can see that was odd!" - He comments in a perplexed tone, causing me to blush.

Seb is one of those drama queens I used to love so much back home. He can be a bit too much sometimes, but I love it. Plus, it's not like there are many queer people here in this city.

To the best of my knowledge, even Justin is in the closet. Not that I talk to him anymore, but I can tell by the secrecy of George and him. Evidently, I never commented on who it was my mate cheated me with. Not that there weren't people curious about it, but I would never out anyone.

Despite everything, I don't hate him. But I never want to see him alone with my mate ever again.

"It was odd! Even if I liked P.D.A. which I don't, I wouldn't be feeling up my mate in the middle of the school cafeteria!" - I gasped at the thought, genuinely mortified.

"I know, right? And then you continued..." - Seb trailed off, blushing in second hand embarrassment.

"Girl, I was just about to pull out his dick when you called out his friends. Thank you for that, by the way. I could never live that down!" - I'm mortified at this. That's NOT normal behavior for me. Not in the slightest.

"On second thought, maybe I should've let you pull out the Alpha dick. I'm curious to see it." - He joked with a mischievous grin.

"Bitch, stop thirsting after my man!" - I slapped his arm lightly.

We laughed and talked for a bit. Then, he went home and I had dinner. There's a schedule we need to follow and I'm not about to miss on the amazing cooking done at the pack house. Not to mention I barely had any lunch today, so I'm starving.

In the next morning, I went to school with my head down. Even as I entered the bus people were already staring at me.

By the time I crossed the gate, whispers broke out everywhere. Suddenly, I'm back at being the talk of the town. And more than ever, I really wish I wouldn't.

"Good morning, Liam. Are you feeling better?" - George asks me as soon as he saw me coming close.

"Morning, George. Yes, I am. I'm so sorry for yesterday. I didn't mean to put on a sex show in front of the entire school!" - I blushed hard. It'll take me some time to get over this.

I'm not ashamed of my sexuality at all, but that doesn't mean I need it to be exposed for all to see. It's just not in me to be this explicit. Even though it could've been worse, MUCH worse.

"You didn't put on a sex show, mate! You were just a little handsy. That's all!" - He dismissed it, laughing mildly.

"A little?" - I raised my voice and eyebrows at the memory, blemishing.

"I hope I didn't cause any pregnancies." - I said, making Junior wince as he heard it.

"I'm sure you didn't." - George said, looking at his friends who were all near. He raised his eyebrows in question.

"Yeah, I don't think you caused any pregnancy. But there was a phenomenon yesterday. The entire student body got really thirsty and there was a line to get water." - Junior reported, grinning.

"Also, some students were put on the mood, if you catch my drift. And some couples may have gotten lucky yesterday."😏 - Justin told us, giving a sideway glance to Junior.

George and I gasped in shock looking at him.

"Hey, at least I'm already mated!" - He blushed under our stares. Trisha is talking to her friends, so she's not here with us.

"If only he was the only one..." - Miriam said and I'm gobsmacked at this. Though not nearly as George, whose mouth opened wide.

"What?! You've completed the bond already?!" - George practically screamed, shook.

"Of course not! But I had my mate fulfill my needs. That's all I'm gonna say in this matter." - She played coy, blushing.

"Oh my Goddess! Who else scored? Justin... did you make anyone happy yesterday?" - I asked him, curiously.

"I don't have a mate, Liam. So, no. And I'm not dating anyone." - He replied, shyly.

Yeah, I don't really buy that. He's enjoying this too much for my taste. But as long as he's not messing around with my mate, he can secretly "date" whoever he wants.

"And you, Mia? Did you finally fulfill your life long dream of catching two boys in the act?" - George smirked, raising an eyebrow to his friend in question.

"Unfortunately no. But I was close yesterday once your mate started undressing you." - She shot back, causing me to blush again.

"Oh my Goddess, don't remind me!" - I'm deeply uncomfortable.

"Did anyone got suspended?" - George asked with a devious smile. The bell rings.

"No, but several people got detention. And we don't even know the extent of how many people hooked up yet. But some people were caught behaving badly inside the restrooms." - Miriam replied as we walked towards the classroom.

"My goodness! And I was medicated soon! Imagine if I weren't." - I commented, shocked at all the news.

When I entered the classroom, Jeff hugged me. Yes, he hugged me. Liam was taken aback by it, but not nearly as I am.

"Thanks, Luna." - He said with a mischievous grin. Miriam got wide-eyed at this, surprised.

"I didn't do it on purpose, Jeff!" - I replied, slightly peeved.

He smiled at me. But he wasn't the only one thanking me for yesterday, as it turns out. Though that's not a badge of honor I'd like to claim.

"Attention students, the administration reiterates that the events that happened yesterday due to someone's heat are not tolerated on school grounds. It's absolutely forbidden to complete the bond at school and those who get caught will be expelled. Good day." - Principal Burke announced via the speaker system.

Students giggled at this and I got even more stares than before. Great! Just my luck.

"Jeff, I hope you know that what happened yesterday doesn't mean I'm going to accept you. I just needed someone to scratch my itch and it had to be you." - Miriam told him with furrowed eyebrows.

He scowls and glances at her. I gulped at the second hand embarrassment.

"I know. But you didn't reject me so far. So, I'm guessing you're the next one to get struck by heat." - He replied promptly. All the students got wide-eyed. Miriam gasped in shock, though he's not exactly lying.

"Regardless. Don't get your hopes up." - She insisted. The teacher entered and the class starts.

Some time later...

"Now that you've all seen first hand how powerful heat is, I'm sure you're gonna ace the test tomorrow." - The teacher smirked, glancing over at me.

"Mrs. Stewart, why did Liam got heat if he's a boy? And why was George so powerless against it he nearly completed the bond in the middle of the cafeteria?" - Justin asked her, causing all the blood to rush towards my cheeks.

George gasped at the question. And he wasn't alone.

"The why I don't know, Justin. I'm not a medical professional, but I'm sure Liam's doctors are running a full check up on him." - She replied, looking at me then him.

"Why was he powerless? Because heat makes your body produce and release an enormous quantity of pheromones. And to one's mate, these pheromones are impossible to resist. Heat also takes away your power of consent, that's why is so dangerous to left unchecked. George couldn't resist his mate yesterday. If he weren't pulled away from Liam..." - She trailed off, pensive.

There's a collective shock on the students' faces, especially on mine and George's.

"I want to make it clear people! Heat is a medical condition. It's not okay to let mates run rampant together when one of them is in heat. You need to be able to consent to your partner whatever it is you want." - She lectured in a dead serious tone.

"It's not because your mate is in heat that they are prepared to complete the bond. That's nature pushing into that direction, yes. But we are human beings first. That's why we have medicine. And it's okay to wait for as long as you need." - She concluded.

"Is it?" - George blurted and my jaw dropped.

Though the teacher isn't having it.

"Yes, Mr. Stonehold. It is. Would you prefer if you had completed the bond in front of the entire school?" - She asked him, staring him down.

George gets really uncomfortable under her piercing gaze.

"No, ma'am." - He blushes on his seat.

"I rest my case." - She smirked.

Yeah, bitch! Who said anything about being ready to complete the bond? I've barely got through one date so far.

However, I do need more of my mate stat.

"Hey, can I see you after lunch?" - I asked him once the class ended.

"Of course!" - He replied with an enthusiastic grin.

During lunch break, I talked it over with Seb about all the repercussions of my heat yesterday. And since he's a senior too, he saw everything play out in class earlier.

He confessed that he also scored some action yesterday, but wouldn't tell me his name even under threat of torture.

Since we don't know each other that well yet, I decided to respect his wishes. But I will get to the bottom of this eventually.🧐

After I finished my meal and brushed my teeth, I went to meet my mate. I asked him to take me wherever he used to meet Justin - I didn't use his name - and he gasped, but complied.

"I'm not nowhere near ready to complete the bond." - I started, once we're alone.

"I understand it. It's too soon." - He agreed, though his face looks disappointed.

"But I'm very ready for what we did at my room that day." - I smirked and he swooned.

"I'm so ready for more of that!" - He concurred enthusiastically.

We kiss for the rest of the break and I make good use of my hands, without taking it too far that we can be expelled.

Last thing I need right now is to give my mother another reason to worry about me.

But we had a blast enjoying each other's company. And he said he'd visit me after school and I'm good to go.

Yes, we had a tough time lately. But I'm perfectly happy to put everything behind us now. I'm ready to date my mate and some time soon, complete the bond like my nature compels me.
