The Red Venom: Book of Fate
He took a deep breath before saying, "Hello Cassandra."
"Wow Simon, twice in one day. It must be my lucky day. By the way, how is the life of the underground boss treating you?" She said in a mocking tone.
"It is not as bad as I expected. I just have to survive a few screw loosed people," He said.
"Screw loose is your language." She smiled as she held her hair together in a band. Her eyes were fixed on her phone by her side.
"So have you seen him yet?"
"I saw him today. He looked happier in person." She got up from her sofa and she picked up the pistol on the table. "Are you sure you want to bring him into this?"
"We have no other choice. He is the only one that can end it and you know why?"
"Yes, Simon. You have mentioned it countless times." She removed the magazine from her gun. "It is starting to get really annoying."
"Besides, you need him more than you think. He is—"
"I know," Cassandra said in a loud tone to the amusement of Simon.
"I don't like this either but—"
"We have to do what we have to do," she chimed in playfully.
"Cass, I have stumbled on something compelling. It is going to reveal the real reason the Guiding Light was created." He sounded more serious than ever.
She knew the length Simon was ready to go. He always went for whatever he sets his heart to do. She had seen that kind of attitude from someone she held dear to her heart. The same stubbornness. It did not end well for him.
"Simon, you have to be careful. We all know what happens to those who have tried to do—you know." Cassandra dropped the gun she was holding. "Promise me that you will be careful."
"I wish I can promise you that."
