Chapter 5: A name to the voice
Grian opened his eyes to find himself in a white room, like his infinity room but more legit feeling. He was pulled out of his mushings when someone started singing.
"Hush now, mo stóirín, close your eyes and sleep, waltzing the waves
Diving in the deep"
Who was that? The voice sounded kinda familiar, but he couldn't quite place his finger on it.
"Stars are shining bright, the wind is on the rise, whispering words of long lost lullabies"
Now that he thought about it, "Mo stóirín" sounded like something he had heard a long time ago, and quite often at that.
"Oh won't you come with me, where the moon is made of gold, and in the morning sun, we'll be sailing"
A golden moon, how ironic for his current situation.
"Oh won't you come with me, where the ocean meets the sky, and as the clouds roll by, we'll sing the song of the sea"
Seriously, where had he heard this voice before?
"I had a dream last night, and heard the sweetest sound, I saw a great white light, and dancers in the round"
Why does it feel like he has something to do with this song? I mean, obviously he had something to do with the song, but it was almost like it was directed at him.
"Castles in the sand, cradles in the trees, don't cry, I'll see you by and by"
A flicker of a pair of bright yellow eyes framed by purple hair filled his mind, before immediately disappearing.
"Oh won't you come with me, where the moon is made of gold, and in the morning sun, we'll be sailing"
Wait, could this be? No, surely not, surely it wasn't.
"Oh won't you come with me, where the ocean meets the sky, and as the clouds roll by, we'll sing the song of the sea"
It has been years, why was he only getting these types of dreams now?
"Rolling, rolling, rolling, rolling"
It must be the moon, it has to have some sort of meaning! Why else would he be hearing their voice again.
"Oh won't you come with me, where the moon is made of gold, and in the morning sun, we'll be sailing free"
They always said that that a red moon, or a blood moon as they called it, was a sign of the apocalypse. Not the end of the world, the apocalypse.
"Oh won't you come with me, where the ocean meets the sky, and as the clouds roll by, we'll sing the song of the sea"
He wished he could apologize, he wants to apologize so bad. But he can't, their not here anymore.
"Grá go deo"
"I'm so sorry, Ellen, I should have taken you with me. I'm sorry"
"Aww, is wittwe Gwian sowwy? Does he miss his old lover? Does he want them back?", tounted a voice, echoing around the room, but not in a nice way like Ellen's singing had.
"Who are? And what do you want with me?" hissed Grian, he absolutely hated it when people were mean to people he cared about. And Ellen was high on that list, even after they broke up.
"How silly of me! I completely forgot! Or, well, you forgot" said the voice in faux abashed tone.
"What are you talking about? I haven't forgotten anything!"
"Oh Little Bird, you are so out of the loop it's adorable!" purred the voice, amusement coating every word, "I'm sure that those two junks of metal and magic you created know more than you at this point!"
Grian was now both frustrated and confused, how could Robot Grian and NPC Grian know more about him the he himself did! This made absolutely no sense! And he had a sneaking suspicion that he wasn't going to get a direct answer from whoever this was, but hopefully they would answer at least some of his questions, "Who are you? What am I doing here? And why me of all people?"
"You ask so many questions Little Bird, but I can only answer so much, I'm afraid," said the voice, not sounding sorry at all, "But I can give you some answers to quench your desires for knowledge, you may call me Fallacy and I am the guardian of the Red Moon. As to why your here and why you, well, let's just say you might not like the answer"
"What is that supposed to mean?", asked Grian, a snarl on his lips. He had been kidnapped from Hermitcraft and forced to build through an eternal night, Fallacy could at least answer his questions.
"Exactly what it sounds like, Little Bird, you won't like the answer", a pause, "Now, since you've asked me some questions, how about I ask you some questions?"
"No way!" snarled Grian, "You took me away from my friends, my family! And you think I'm going to answer your questions? No way!"
"I would reconsider if I was you," said Fallacy, tone so cold it actually sent shivers down Grian's spine, "So I'll ask again, how about I ask you some questions?"
"Fine, but only three questions, since that's how many I asked you" relented the dirty blond, not happy with the situation in the slightest.
"Excellent!," chereed Fallacy, "Now for my question, of which I will only ask one, are you happy in Hermitcraft?"
"Yeah, I am," answered Grian with full certainty, he knew for sure that he loved it on Hermitcraft, but Fallacy just had to take that away.
"Now that's unfortunate for you, now, isn't it?" mocked Fallacy, grin obvius in their voice.
"Shut up" hissed Grian, just wishing that Fallacy would go away! Without warning the white room disappeared and it was replaced with the night of the superflat world, seems like his wish came true, Fallacy was gone.
Breathing a sigh or relief he rolled off the bed, he needed to feel the touch of nature after being stuck in the white room for heavens knows how long. Brushing his hands against grass had never felt better. And soon he felt himself drifting off to sleep, mentally exhausted.
The sleep that followed was one filled with happy memories of him, Iskall and Mumbo being happy and enjoying each others company. And for the rest of the "night" a smile was plastered on his face.
He may be in a bad situation, but that doesn't mean that people weren't trying to help him. So he wasn't going to give up, if not for himself, than for them.
So, I did part 5 quicker than I expected, so here! You now have part 5 of TRMAS! Now, I'm off to work on other projects that need finishing. See y'all another time!
