Chapter 39: A demon, creeper and zombie go on an adventure

<Hopefully this is the week where my writing schedule get's better! Anyways, sorry that this was late. So enjoy this now! (also, long title is long)>

Tango doubled over with a gasp, nearly falling onto the floor if it wasn't for Zedaph.

"Tango? What's wrong?" Asked a panicked Zedaph, not understanding why his boyfriends suddenly fell over.

The demon tried to answer him, but all that left him where pained gasps and wheezes. Seeing that talking wasn't working he tried mouthing it, but that was hard because of the gasping.

Zedaph was hyper focused on Tango, which meant he could see the already transparent man fading even more. "Your fading!"

Impulse quickly walked up himself to see it close up, and Tango was most definitely fading. "I think you're waking up."

The blond shook his head violently. If this was waking up then he'd rather sleep through all of eternity, because it's just so painful. He let out a cry that didn't sound human at all, claws digging into the ground.

Zedaph looked over at Impulse with scared eyes. "Are you sure he's waking up? Because I don't feel like he is."

"He's waking up." Reassured Impulse. He didn't know if their boyfriend actually was waking up, but he had to stand sure. If he did then at least Zed would too, and maybe some other Hermit or Evolutionist also.

Doc was now in a similar state as Tango too, but Cleo stood unaffected. Sure she was also fading, but she wasn't keeling over and in pain.

When she brought this up to Joe I didn't really know either. "Maybe it has something to do with how alive you are? Perhaps even with the pain of death. You have lived through dying, so that might be why you are not affected?"

"Perhaps." Hummed Cleo, watching the other two writhe in pain. "Is it bad of me to say that I'm thankful to not be either of them at the moment?"

"Not at all."

No one barely saw what happened next.

One moment Tango and Doc were in pain and the next the room flashed for a second, showing a cell with bodies in it, and then they -along with Cleo- were gone.

"They better be awake." Said Iskall to no one in particular. "Or I swear I'll drag their sorry asses back up here."

<--_--_--_--_--_--_--_-->

Doc woke up with a gasp, eye snapping open as he jerked awake. In other places of the cell Cleo and Tango had similar fates.

"Well, we're certainly awake alright." Commented Cleo, looking over all the bodies of their group. She stood up without much trouble, not feeling stiff at all. So they hadn't been here that long then. "What now?"

"Break out?" Suggested Tango, looking at the bars keeping them in. "It won't really be too hard."

"I recommend against that, petit filou." Cooed a voice.

The threes heads snapped up, looking at the cell in front of them. But it was empty. So they turned their eyes to the cell to its right, and there sat a pale brown humanoid owl. The three stared at them as they looked back, neither side gave up.

Doc finally looked away when too many tears built up in his eyes, making his eyes hurt. "Damnit!"

Tango patted him on the back, also looking away from the owl. "Don't worry man, you couldn't have helpt it."

"Filou's right, you know." Hummed the owl, tone soft as they addressed them. "Humans blink nearly twice as much as an owl, so I'm at an unfair advantage here."

"That's...cool?" Said Cleo, frazing it more as a question. "Um, is it too much of you to ask a few questions?"

"Not at all!" Cooed the owl. "I promise to tell you all nothing but the truth!"

Cleo nodded at that. "Good. Now what is your name?"

"Varity."

Tango narrowed his eyes at the name. Where had he heard it before? "What titles do you have to your name?"

Varity smiled at the question. "I am the deity of truth and justice."

"You're a deity?" Asked Doc. "Then why are you trapped in a cell? Aren't you powerful enough to break out?"

"Normally, yes. But since when was anything having to deal with Fallacy ever easy?"

The tree winced at that. All think back to what they've been seeing. "What's your connection to Fallacy?" Asked Tango.

"Opposites. Me being the truth to their lies."

"Opposites." Said Doc, eyes looking off into a blank wall. "Do you mean it like two sides of the same coin, or something else?"

"Coin." Answered the feathered deity. They continued before the creeper could get any ideas. "But I can't kill them, and they can't kill me either."

Tango looked confused. "How so?"

Varity chuckled. "I hope you all know Harry Potter ("Wait-you know about Harry Potter?"), because there's a line from there that I feel fits. 'Neither can live whilst the other survives'. For lies to exist there must be a truth to twist, something to lie about."

"Just like life and death." Concluded Cleo. "They need each other to exist, and without the other one can't be."

"That's right."

Silence filled the cells, Varity not speaking again and the trio think to themselves and whispering to each other. Eventually Doc exited their little circle. "How can we kill Fallacy?"

"Conquer." Chirped Varity, as if that explained everything.

"I hope you mean an item of some kind, and not that we need to conquer this place."

"I mean an item." Laughed the owl deity. "Conquest sword to be more precise."

"And how do we get this sword?" Grinned Tango, excited to find the item that could save them.

"Get the fourhorsemen of the apocalypse in the same place." ...Why couldn't things ever be easy for once? Why not just once?

Doc rubbed his face. "Send me to sleep again. I can't handle this shit."

"No!" Cried Cleo, startling the two boys. "This is our only chance to kill Fallacy, if that means getting the horsemen in one place then so be it!"

The other two still looked unsure. "My god!" She turned to Varity. "How high is it that the horsemen will kill us once summoned?"

"Very low." Hummed the truth teller lightly. "Even lower than normal since you're all friendly with Death."

"So we won't die?" Asked Tango, now a bit less apprehensive. At the avians nood he sighed in relief. But the relief was short lived as he remembered that they were trapped in a cell. "But, uh, how do we get out of here?"

"I'll be teleporting you once you three are ready." Answered Varity. Pale maroon wings shifted slightly as they stood up and walked as close as they could. "You'll have a map that leads to where Lady War's temple is, and a map that shows where you are of course."

Cleo raised an eyebrow at him. "And you can do all of this because...?"

"It's required of me too." Was their only, and very confusing and cryptic response.

The three huddled up again to talk it out. And after around fifteen minutes of harsh debate they came to a decision. "We're ready. So teleport us."

Varity nodded before closing their eyes, the blue markings under their eyes glowing. And in a flash, quicker than the one that woke them up, they were at the edge of a towering birch forest maps in hand.

They looked at each other. "You two ready?" Asked Tango, hard determination already in his red eyes.

"Naturally!" "Born ready."

He smirked at them. "Then let's go save the world."

<Owl person is Varity! But most of you already knew that so I'm not gonna pretend it's a big surprise. Any who, we are now splitting the party once more! I don't have anything else to say here so stay safe and have a wonderful time everyone!>
