First things first
...I often heard Mom say that when she taught me how to eat properly for the first time, so I thought I'd put it here too.
Well, there is order in everything; in society, in daily life, even in telling one's experiences. I told you about the situation in a wide range. Now I'll put in some details, or 'touch', as Mom put it.
One of the first things I learned during the tutorial sessions (Grandmom approved it; she even pays the tutor) was about my own clan. In the first five weeks I was asked to memorize the names of the House's former leaders--my ancestors--and later on to never forget them. All. Grandpa is the 110th with the title, I think.
The weeks after that were for memorizing the names of 72 Pillars--of extinct and on-going Devil lineages--which was equally brain-racking. Then, learning to write Devil-ish alphabet...
The list may go on forever.
Phew! To think I passed all that and now get to talk about them with a smile--to you!
Um... while we're at it, you might as well know that tutorials aren't the only means by which children in this society are taught. There are schools, of course, but Grandmom said they just aren't proper places for a prince. Me.
Yes, you could say that's what I am. A prince. There is no other in the family, even the entire clan, just yet.
...What? Me, the center of attention? Maybe. Spoiled? Think again.
And all this because of one person; I have mentioned her once, and will do again. Meet my grandmom, Venelana Gremory--the strictest person I've ever known. More so than Mom, it seems. Keep the 'grand' in mind.
If you were to meet her in person, she would look a bit different. Her hair is brown, not red like the rest of us. Well, Mom's different too: her hair is naturally gray. Mom almost always wears the maid outfit; grandmom, the white dress.
What about me?
Well, normally:
How do I look? Yes, I was in the hall, practicing to greet someone. Those many servants just won't leave me, so there they are. And no, Mom's not among them.
Why the practice? Well, Auntie's gonna be back soon... Gotta keep the manners!
