17. Charlie and Kane
The 150th game. Looks exactly the same as the room today, except with different people of different backgrounds. Two kids look around twelve and the rest are last teens and young adults. The biggest difference from that game and this game is that there was no winner that season. All fourteen faces are all eliminated or something big happened for the winner not to be announced.
The final three doesn't even notice the wallpaper. Pharaoh is balled up in a corner sleeping for however long he can to get away from the troubles of this game. Roy is sitting in the chair staring at nothing thinking about life outside of the box. Winter is standing up in front of the only podium left in the game. Staring at the only buttons on the screen- one half red and the other is blue. One fatal click that ends people's lives in a second.
"Maybe there is a way out of here. We have to try." Winter worries Roy.
"There is no way out of here. One more round then they can go home. Too late for change, eleven people already lost their lives." Roy exclaims.
Pharaoh slumps and rolls around to face the two. "I checked everywhere for a door already. The only way outside is the chairs and you only go down there when you die. Go down there alive would not end well."
"Y'all shouldn't worry this round. It's the last round. We just have to promise not to play Swift's game during the final two. No more backstabbing at final two and both can stay alive. Just look at the walls now. Two winners because they worked together."
The walls are now on the 151th game. All fourteen faces diverse from an alliance of tiny boys and old people holding hands. You can tell by the ways that there was a lot of drama going on that season. With a picture of a middle aged woman yelling at a blue haired young woman to a little boy smiling in one picture speaking with a group of guys to the next picture of him sitting alone crying in a corner. That season had girls confidently sitting on each other's lap in the chairs and a tall slim boy with dark hair yelling at everyone at one point. But what catches the final there's eyes in one picture of William sitting next to a girl around her late teens or early twenties. He looks more worried that season trying to explain himself on the very first round. From the clues given they proceed to recognize that that game was last year and that this game is the 153rd game.
Winter is shocked the most compared to the guys. She sees the names 'Charlotte Dean #152' and 'Kane Lawal #152' rotate around the room. They are so young and they have to be ruined by the game.
William never really said what happened to them, but by context clues that it wasn't anything spectacular enough to be remembered. They could be living on a resort area having the time of their lives. Or they could be slaves to Swift with the other winners. No one will know what happened to the winners until someone wins.
In the collage of history pictures. You can see the winners in all stages of their games. You can see Charlie on the second round holding her stomach as if she was pregnant next to a veteran crying in his hands. Kane being replaced in the seat by an old Asian man sacrificing himself for the winner.
"I guess this is the end of seeing past games until we are up there." Pharaoh says.
A hologram appears with the faces of two people this time. And neither of them are Swift. They are last years winners Charlie and Kane. They both have on all black suit with their hands uniformly before their backs. Kane still has his short dark tight curls in his hair. In the time between his game and now he grew to be almost Charlie height. His jaw has gotten sharper and his body has gotten longer. Charlie looks practically the same. Same long nature red hair straightened to point down over her shoulders to a slight curl at the bottom. Same figure and same boss stature.
"Hello final 3. You might recognize us from the pictures of the game from six months ago. I'm known formally as Charlie and this is my co-winner Kane Lawal."
Kane continues in a new voice.
"Life outside has great improved outside for us prior of our game. We live on our fortunes given to us by the help of the game. All you have to do is win and everything will be fine. To make it easier don't pull the red cube four times in one game." Kane jokingly says about Charlie. They laugh together on cue as if they practiced their laugh together to sound normal. Charlie takes the mic again.
"This could be your last round so make this worth it." Charlie winks off cue directly into the final three as a code she hope is delivered. She looks to her left with a worried expression. No one can see what she's looking at because they aren't on the hologram.
"No! I prom-" the hologram shuts off for a minute and turns back on with just Kane standing there.
"Charlie is alright if you asked. It is now time for you to choose your final cube of the game. There is only one blue cube and two red cubes. Only a slim chance of you automatically being safe so good luck to you all."
Roy again instantly grabs his cube with no repercussions again. He digs his young arms into the bowl and pulls out a familiar cube. Another red one. He takes a seat in the red chair and wait for either Pharaoh or Winter to join him.
"It's just us now. I didn't expect this the first round." Pharaoh says to Winter and Roy.
"And don't pull a red cube." He quotes Roy from the beginning of the game as he chuckles his way to the bottom of the tube. His opens his weak lightened hand to show a blue cube. Winter looks at his hands and understands while she sits in the blue chair next to Roy.
Either Winter or Roy will not make it to the final two and it's all up to Pharaoh. They both worked with him in the past and both are equally determined to stay. One button is going to instantly eliminate one more person.
One last button before the curtains fall. The show will be over, but not for long. Swift will just ask for encore after encore until he is satisfied by the first show.
"It's the last round and I can now say I'm done. I feel drained from myself in a matter of hours. I just want to go home and sleep for days." Roy argues.
"I'm with him. If I make it out of here somehow, I want to move to Paris and forget that everything happened. I will make sure that this game will be over forever." Winter says.
"Well we made it to final three. We did make we promised the very first round. I wish all five would be here with us, but this game had to ruin us. I wish I could have met you guys outside of this game. It's time for my final decision. I hope you two understand that I'm doing this to keep myself alive."
"We understand. " they say in unison.
"The person I choose to make it to the final two is..." he presses the last button on the lone podium facing them.
The wristband of the player begins to beep frantically and quicker than the other eleven. The blue dots swarm quickly to their brain and in one swift action the blue dots glow as bright as they can through skin. Roy's body joints one quick time and his eyes roll to the back of his head. One final chair and podium drop before the final two gets to go home.
"Winter I chose for you to stay. Roy isn't the same intact boy he was the first round. He could not make it in the real world. Especially without Nathan. I need you to stay strong and prove my decision was right."
She nods. "We won" she cries and hugs Pharaoh, but the sound of swift interrupts them.
"Um. No. you did not win. The game isn't over for you two. Get ready for the final showdown, round 13, the finale. May the best winner or winners, wink wink, win."
